The pay is better than minimum wage and the hours are good - Mon-Fri with weekends and holidays off. But the management is terrible and they don't listen to employees. Office staff gets treated better and paid higher but most of them can't even do their job and it causes problems for everyone down the line then the line workers get yelled at. The work itself is not too complicated if you already know what you are doing. There is no real training and no advancement opportunity or internal job postings. Wages should be higher for a factory of this size in the $25-30/hr range. There is a permenant hiring sign out front which tells you all you need to know about turnover. They don't hold your vacation pay, it goes on each paycheck like a seasonal employee. If you are just looking for a job for a few months or a year, this is ok but don't expect to retire from here or provide for your family. This company is extremely behind the times in company culture, products, policy. Needs HR staff/team to bring it into the 21st centurey and treat all employees equally.

A typical day of work would involve the manufacturing of park model and manufactured houses. These houses were built on a line which put a large emphasis on production. However, Northlander Industries prides itself on building the most quality product of its kind in all of North America. Management continually stressed the importance of quality control. Therefore, I learned how to produce a quality product in the most efficient manor. I worked exterior to interior learning a wide range of carpentry skills from framing, sheeting, and roofing, to cabinet installation and trimming. The hardest part of the job was learning how to time manage in a manor that would allow for high levels of production while maintaining strict quality control guidelines. The most rewarding part of the job was seeing my skills build to the point where I could produce quality products at an efficient level.

If you want to work somewhere long term, this is not the place. They cannot keep people. When you enjoy working in one area they move you to another. You can work hard and do your job but your never appreciated. Very poor communication  in the office between drafting,  engineers, and production. You end up wasting a lot of time and material and are expected to keep up no matter what. No pay increases. There paying you to start, what people that have been there for a very long time are making just to get people in the door.

Good people,hard workers. Reputable company with benefits and wages are competitive with today's market.

Nothing to complain about and would rather not  say.

Could improve work environment.

Good mostly. Do your job and don't pay attention to gossip.

This is a very discriminative place to work. Different strokes for different folks. The lazy socializers get away with doing exactly that and the hard workers get picked on religiously. Do yourself a favour and walk away before you even start working there. Most of you won’t take anyone’s word for the review so go ahead and find out for yourself! I give you a month at most and you will regret it. Pension sucks

I had amazing time at Northlander Industries, people are very friendly, fun loving and very helpful, very peaceful and relaxed environment in the office,  I have learned lot of good things not only professionally but personally as well, definitely recommended to others

The hardest part of the job was waking early in the morning and start working at 7 am

very hard place to work. doesnt matter how many hours you work you only get 2 15 minute breaks. sit on a pail cause no lunch room.when you get hired its the luck of the draw as to where you will be put.they are on the 10 hourr shift that goes from the first long wkend to the last. DUSTY also.you work 48 hrs a week with only 4 paid overtime

busy factory setting , lots to do . Had to learn time management and material scheduling in a fast paced setting. Management were always available for problems that arose on the floor. Great people to work with. Early start to the shift was hardest part , co-workers were the best part.

It takes a bit for other employees to relax around you when you first start, but after a few weeks and your in the routine, things get a little more relaxed.  The hours are awsome. Should have more OT opertunities though.  The pay could be better though it isnt horrible.
