Our owners are very flexible and will bend over backwards to help you. Best management ever

Like all trucking companies this go array so dispatch may have to reroute last minute it’s a minor grievance

Awesome The crew are friendly and helpful

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Long hours and outside for usually around four of them.  You go at your own speed and if you can’t complete the job in the allotted hours then finish it tomorrow. Stuff happens and they understand that

Northwest is an average company. The same pluses and minuses of any company.
They prioritize owner operators over company trucks. This leads to feast or famine when it comes to work. Instead of giving O/Ops steady work and having company trucks pick up the slack they try and maximize the O/Ops and then anything that goes wrong causes a ripple effect leaving operations short handed and scrambling.

This company is a textbook case of toxic work culture. There is an expectation that employees work beyond their hours and will be criticized for their work almost on a schedule so management can maintain leverage. The micromanagement is unbearable, and you will find that most of your day to day is ensuring you work around the egos of upper management. Working at Northwest Tank Lines was sincerely one of my biggest regrets professionally and I do not see this company being successful in the long run. 

North West Tank Lines gave me the opportunity to find, explore and add to my abilities as an employee and individual. This company is limitless, not only in future endeavours but all employees are encouraged to purse individual desires and dreams. This company is based on clearly defined roles and goal setting. These keys to success made work stress free and fulfilling with no shortage of work. Highly recommended.

What is the best part of working at the company?
There wasn’t a best part. Very toxic work atmosphere. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Dealing with the Class 8 dangerous goods.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Toxic work culture and poor management.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
In the truck at assigned times deliver goods to Port Alberni. 2 loads a day. 12hr days

They treat Class 1 Drivers with no respect once they are hired. Personally I recommend Drivers to ask more questions about the operations and pay. They are always looking for drivers because it seems their Company Drivers dont want to stay because of low pay and drama.

Schedule is accommodating but unless you want to work 25 plus days a month you won’t make it with the rates they pay. Loads can be changed 3-4 times a day. Dispatch always claims the importance of their planning but doesn’t expect that drivers do the same. Lots of work but you need to do 20% more to be in line with competing companies.

This is the company where there is zero percent job security. You have no clue if the day you're working will be your last, even after putting in a lot of effort. Some managers, who were the reason for half the team getting fired, got terminated themselves.

I've been a driver on a designated run now for nearly 2 years and I love it, dispatchers are the best I've ever worked with, equipment is top notch... Safety is paramount so your not pushed....

Sturgeon (Edmonton) location opened in late 2021. In just under 2.5 years, 9 people have quit or been fired. (Total staff of roughly 10 in the office at a time). Not a good sign that they've had about 100% turn over.
