Typical day:

Inputting dockets, drafting, proofreading, revising and issuing documents such as Share Purchase Agreements, Resolutions, Closing Agendas, Minute Books, Take Over Bids, Mergers and Acquisitions, Term Sheets, etc., drafting and finalizing correspondence.

4 years of being responsible for managing Local Chair of the Business Law Group’s confidential and administrative tasks including:
-	Associate Reviews on a semi-annual basis
-	Budget documentation
-	Hiring and Termination Processes
-	Approvals of expenses
-	Arranging meetings relating to the interview process of Associates
-	Drafting charts, tables and other related confidential documents
-	Handling complaints, concerns and praise
-	Preparation of confidential memorandums to be sent to other local chairs in other practice groups.


Responsible for conflict searches and approval process of new clients.

Responsible for maintaining individual files for each Associate and Partner in the Business Law Group.

Managed Senior Partner’s practice on their behalf in their absence and while on sabbatical
•	Arranging meetings, travel and accommodations
•	Opening and Closing files.

Independently communicated with external clients on a daily basis.

Compiled Record Books and participated in numerous Closings.

Maintaining centralized filing system.

Managing business expenses.

Preparing files for storage.

Worked with detailed lengthy documents.

Managed heavy paper workload for Senior Partner and Junior Associate.

Active member in the following committees:  Social Committee, Health and Safety Committee and United Way Committee and Move Committee.

Work with Senior Partners on lengthy transactions at special request.

Most difficult part of the job is the lack of knowledge in other departments when needed.  

Most enjoyable part of the job was the work, the people and the team work amongst other co-corkers.

Over the 9 years of working at this Firm my co-workers became family.  We always helped each other with no hesitation.

Busy work environment and every day was different which I enjoyed.  Great team of legal assistants and business services members.  Overall good work environment except for a select few that made my life miserable.   Mixed messages, insults and disrespect, not to mention being micromanaged from the HR Leadership team.

Lawyers are friendly, knowledgeable and respectful towards assistants.  

If you don't have to report to the HR Director, you will be fine.  If you do, be prepared for someone who is not approachable and someone who will not support and mentor you.  Will not share information that is important to the HR Team.





Or articling student, but if you are in Comms or Marketing this is a horrific place that you should avoid. Unless you are a spineless sycophant who wants to just blindly follow orders from an incompetent sociopath, you're better off at another firm. The CMO will lie to your face with a big smile on her own because she knows she's setting you up for failure. But hey, as long as you're willing to dive under the bus when she throws you there, you'll make good coin, meet some nice people and have a lot of fun! 

If you are seeking to learn, grow and utilize your best talents and skills, you should look someplace else like Bennet Jones or Dentons. I cannot warn you anymore clearly than this.

A typical day started with opening, which is printing the daily schedule for meetings happening that day or events; then brew coffee, and open kitchens on seven floors.I learned to be professional, do we job properly, and always smile. The management was organized and excellently operated. My co-workers were the best, because they were understanding and fun to be around. The hardest part of the job was, it got extremely busy and almost never ending. Having slow days and setting up events for the lawyers enjoyed the most from working at Norton Rose Fulbright.

Slow Network, old computers, outdated Software... need I say more ?
You will be hired for a specific job. When the tasks are done, do your filing slowly (or check Facebook), but do not try to help others or be creative: it will not be appreciated and some toxic staff will feel resentment toward you, making your work life difficult. Management will politely remind you that you should not stand out from your colleagues with your outstanding achievements. It's a shame, since some employees are pretty amazing and smart, willing to improve the way they work to gain efficiency and quality.

Hard to communicate with higher ups, HR is not welcoming and acts really underhanded despite having an "open door" policy, expectations that people will work late or be available for overtime hours but there is no overtime pay. They take advantage of good employees, management is all about perception/how they look to others with very little care for employees day to day, any employee care is performance only. Upper management is completely tone deaf

They treat the employees with respect. Offer flexed remote work.

Sometimes working on tight time lines but otherwise non stressful

I can’t say it was stressful. NRF has great resources making it easy to find what you are looking for and everyone was always happy to help

I was working 2 years for this company . The manager answered very seldom to emails and/or phone calls . Lawyers and Assistants have no respect for IT Department .
You have the meetings set during your lunch break and compensation is free lunch. 
There is almost no support from Management and Senior staff. In my two years they fired 7 people , replaced with 3. The training is formal. Knowledge is chaotic and outdated.

The people that work there. Lots of great people.

The leadership and HR team has favourites.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very separated. Legal professionals don’t talk to office employees. If you don’t have a law degree, they don’t want to talk to you.

Very busy and a lot of meeting. Generally meetings could have just been an email.
