I have had the pleasure of working with Onstream Pipeline Inspection, and it has truly been an excellent experience. The level of professionalism and camaraderie within the company and its team is top-notch.

Very small window to learn very technical job with no trainers in sight whilst you try to struggle your way through. Get handed weeks of online learning/hundreds of pages procedures while you work in the field. Put with five different techs who all have their own spin on how to do things. Received very little in field training as it was "too busy" to train you and feared you may make a mistake and be held responsible. Moral was so negative and low in shop, I knew after a week I wasn’t staying. Everyday was new gossip, gripe or rumour. Nobody gave any feedback as to your progression except that you’ll "figure it out" told to watch out for certain guys and then come to find out those guys threw you under the bus. 
Over complicated systems and programs, lack of accountability and oversight. Management looking to hang guys over any field issues, even if through no  fault of their own, withholding of bonuses. Shop moral was never addressed and it took a whole department to March into the office to demand equal compensation from company. Project managers promise the world to clients and expect you to deliver. Redundant procedures. Illusion of team atmosphere but coworkers constantly complain to management about issues that should be dealt with in the field. This company was recently acquired by another, larger corporation and it shows. High turnover rate, absent/incompetent training staff, low pay and field vs shop mentality made my time there less than desirable. To end on a positive note, there was a few guys that did understand what I went through and were supportive.  To those guys, who were honest, thanks. 


A typical day at work starts by organizing your daily tasks followed by any instructions or job changes that are needed for that day. Re-prioritizing job tasks is done throughout the day as needed. A usual day involves troubleshooting PCB's to the component level, Fixing electro-mechanical devices and teaching field personnel how to operate the equipment, building a variety of sensors, and checking component stock levels and ordering parts when needed.

Since working at Onstream Pipeline Inspection I have developed greater troubleshooting techniques. I have also learned a great deal of the role of a manager and how to deal with both the upper management and the field workers.

My co-workers are great. The company has a fun and interactive environment.

The hardest part of my job is having to always re-prioritize my daily tasks due to the high volume of work that comes through my office.

The most enjoyable part of job are my co-workers.

At Onstream there is a high value on character in the people and the culture. Career development can be difficult at times, but for those who put in the work and excel, you can do very well and go into many different disciplines within the business. 

I have developed a career born out of this business and I will likely be in this industry for a long time to come, for that I have only Onstream to thank.

If you have a good attitude and work ethic, you can build a career inside the walls of this business. This business is a home as much as it is a place of work.

An entire crew of “men” backstabbing and belittling each other like they were in grade school again. 

“Training staff” that are so out to date on how field techs are doing their job they should be retired. Literally paying someone to wander around aimlessly. 

The way the pay scale is set up it literally makes everyone resent each other. Makes the Freeswim VS Wireline battle real when you see the difference and pay and know that amount of work required. 

Technical, a lot to learn and to maintain, not for everyone.
Busy work schedule, shifts fill adequately.
Learnt a lot over the time here, invaluable amount actually.
Challenging work with and adventure every day. The travel is great for those who like it.

Although often quick paced and sometimes demands extra time, managers engage with you to make sure you can make it work. There is good give-and-take in this regard. 
I am given many freedoms to accomplish my work without mirco-management. 
During COVID - no layoffs were experienced. Job security despite challenging times is a big piece of mind.  

This company is rapidly growing and full of opportunity. Despite my short time as an intern, I had no trouble finding ways to contribute. Management made sure the team was functioning well and deadlines were being met, yet fully respected the importance of work-life balance. This is an awesome company to work for if you are a passionate and hardworking individual.

My experience at Onstream has been a cut above other O&G companies I've worked for. The family-like culture, the skill level and drive of co-workers, and the management team on their own would be impressive, but to have all three was simply fantastic. Everyone is working towards a common goal, and management empowers you do your job.

This is a good place to work if you enjoy travelling.  Management seems more focused on themselves then the employees.

They hire very young people with very little experience.  This can be good and bad at the same time.

If you have ever heard of "bait and switch" then you will understand what happens here.
