I've been with Onyx for just over a year and have greatly enjoyed my experience so far. I've worked for multiple medic companies and Onyx has some of the best MTC's and gear that I've come across. Supervisors and managers are always available to answer questions or address issues, and they care, you will never be a number here. Supervisors are happy to come out to site and run through scenarios. Our dispatcher is absolutely amazing, she communicates frequently and makes sure that we are happy with the work we are accepting.  There is opportunity for bonus pay during winter and when working longer shifts. Onyx also offers to pay a portion of personal benefits for ALL employees, not just the fulltime staff.

I've been out of the oilfield for a few years but with a change in circumstances I had to come back into it. Onyx has been incredibly flexible with my scheduling needs and has entrusted me to work across multiple areas of the company. Like most oilfield Healthcare and rescue, work can be a little streaky depending on season but ONYX has been inventive looking for ways to expand the company. It's been refreshing working in a place where I can walk into anyone's office from dispatch to the GM and I am addressed by name, and if I have a concern they are addressed then and there for the most part. The GM also clearly cares about the company as he has been busy working both in the field and the office  

The work is seasonal at best.  You might be busy for a few weeks or you might not be working.  January to February is most busy. 
I used to think management was great but then they changed everything and everyone.  We had a great dispatcher and then an awesome  dispatcher but they both left.   My guess is they got sick of the same stuff that the rest of us left over.   
My pay has always wrong,  except once beginning of February, other than that it's pulling teeth to get paid for the little bit you did work.  
Highly don't recommend. 

Safety measures are severely lacking and appear to be a complete disaster, micromanagement is a significant issue, evident in their annoyance with employees taking breaks and their overly strict enforcement of the exact 30-minute lunch break, and there's a noticeable trend in hiring practices where predominantly individuals from one specific country are employed.

This company is head and shoulders above the rest in the industrial EMS industry. Management is easy to talk to and cares about your success. It has a family environment feel. They always have your back in any situation. The pay is excellent and the work/life balance is perfect. I have nothing negative to say about Onyx.

Very professional and positive place to work. Management is top notch and very supportive.

Communication lines are always open and management is always there to help mentor. Theres no fear of micro management here. 

Forward thinking company that promotes autonomy and respects its employees for their full scope of practice. Place trust in their employees and everyone is motivated to work and learn from eachother!

Hands on management that care about their staff. Lots of projects on the go- This is a forward thinking and will only keep growing into the future with lots of opportunity for work. I feel like employees are supportive and it’s a good crew of people to work with. 

Run away while you can! Company and employees were great under old management, however when the company sold, they were terrible! Always issues and issues about anything! Then they bought another company resulting in even worse issues that were never resolved! 

Excellent management and owner. Great working environment. Salary is on par or above industry standards. Management is always available for questions.
