This company is constantly hiring for clinic locations that do not have an immediate need for a practitioner. You are expected to bring in clients on your own, which is very difficult when you are just starting to build your professional network at a new job. So unless you are bringing all of your previous clients with you, you will be struggling for a very long time. New grads especially need to be weary! You will not be making enough money to support yourself while working here, unless you happen to be taking over for a very busy practitioner who is leaving the company and all their previous clients. New grads will be charmed by the large size of this company and the promises made about rapidly growing your practice through all the wonderful opportunities that will be available to you. It's all a smoke screen! Their information nights and outreach events are poorly designed and carried out. Growth is very slow at this company, with very little tangible results. The established practitioners (who have been at the company 10+ years) are not collaborative or helpful to new practitioners - they see you as competition rather than as colleagues. There is also a lot of internal drama that you are not told about, until it somehow makes its way to you. When you ask head office for help/guidance to grow your client base or to deal with the drama you've walked into, you are not given any useful advice or tools. They will print you as many business materials as you want, but as far as mentoring or guidance - there is none. This company also has a high turnover rate - both practitioners and clinic assistants. There is a lot of micromanaging that comes down the chain of command for small, trivial things. Practitioners especially will find that the lack of mentoring, slow growth, and thus very low pay is demotivating. Usually, people just end up quitting and finding work elsewhere because the average-to-low pay is not worth the headache they get from head office or other practitioners. And lastly, depending on the clinic you end up at, your clinic assistant will either turn out to be a good friend or someone you can't stand. Which in turn makes a big difference to how your patients/clients will respond you. The only plus side to working here is that most of the patients/clients are quite friendly and personable. Bottom line, you're much better off trying your luck elsewhere.

Working with your immediate team is great because usually your team is very understandable and positive, encouraging and supportive. (This of course depends on which location you are at.)

Management, however, is another story. With high turnover, condescending emails and aggressive micromanagement, this money-hungry company does not put patients first and in fact only focuses on trying to fit as many practitioners under one roof, even if there is quite literally no room. Each role in management focuses on busying themselves with tasks that aren't pertinent to the daily runnings of the clinic, but are more so focused on unnecessary busy body tasks to self validate their earnings for their paycheques. Management spends more time online shopping than they do dealing with issues at the clinic level. Poor communication is an understatement and very often changes will be made that directly affect patients, practitioners and the clinics without any notice whatsoever. Management will replace you in your role, because it's easier to hire someone than to take ownership for their faults. Lack of communication is to be expected regularly from all members of management.

If proper staff training was given, the margin of error would be much less, however this company believes it is easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission. Don't expect much training, if any, and do expect to get thrown in and know how to properly run a clinic. When you need help, other team-members are the proper source, because not only does management not know what is going on, but they will ignore your calls/texts/emails when a matter is urgent and pressing.

Even if you are desperate for a job, I wouldn't recommend this position to anyone. You'll likely get a job because of the high turnover and the desperation this company exudes, but I highly suggest you keep looking.

I have learned and grown a lot in my two years with Optimum Wellness. I came from a reception background with no medical knowledge and it was absolutely a learning curve at first.  The training was very hands on. I was given scenarios and then walked through it on the system. 

When it came to in clinic learning there was a day or two of watching and soaking in the atmosphere and then it is very hands on going forward. I'm very much a visual learner and it was a great learning environment for myself. The clinic manager and other CA, as well as head office were all very supportive and were always there if I had any questions or needed to be walked through anything on the system.  

It is very busy, but it's also very rewarding. We have many patients come through the doors and they are in so much pain, and to see them leave with some relief or come back for their follow up and hear how much it helped is always very rewarding.  I was also well prepared in the interview process and informed that it is a very busy and fast paced position.  A lot of multitasking is needed for the day to day tasks but coming from my past position where I didn't really have much work to do, I much prefer this. Most days are busy, there's always work to be done and the time flies by.  

In my particular clinic the workplace culture is incredibly positive. Everyone is very respectful and it's a fairly tight knit community.  The practitioners are all very communicative and appreciative of their peers. There's lots of internal referencing as well. If someone is seeing a practitioner and they could benefit from something another practitioner offers they have no issues with recommending them to try out something different. They are very much for the patients. It's really amazing to work for a team that really, truly cares for the patients and honestly most of our patients would vouch the exact same thing. 

A typical day at work is busy but rewarding — I get to connect with patients, collaborate with other practitioners, and truly see the difference we make in people’s health and well-being. I work alongside some of my best friends, which makes even the busiest days enjoyable.

Over my time here, I’ve learned a lot about teamwork and interdisciplinary care. Working closely with other healthcare providers has strengthened my ability to collaborate on patient care and deliver well-rounded treatment plans.

Management and head office are generally quick to respond and take action when important issues arise. I feel that I’m treated fairly and supported in my role, and that means a lot. The workplace culture is friendly, professional, and focused on patient care — it’s an environment that makes you want to do your best.

The hardest part of the job for me has been adjusting to the charting system, Juvonno. I’ve used other systems like ChiroTouch and Jane, which I personally found a bit more intuitive, but with time, you get used to it.

The most enjoyable part of the job is without a doubt the people — my patients, my colleagues, and the overall atmosphere. My clinic is small, but it functions really well, and the location is excellent.

I didn’t give a full five stars because there’s always room for improvement (no workplace is perfect), but after working in four different chiropractic offices over the past six years, I can honestly say this is the best one.

This job is VERY stressful to learn, but extremely rewarding and enjoyable. I had no prior clinic experience which did not help. There is a lot to learn and you are expected to learn fast. Optimum offers a lot of support and training and patience to learn. Once you get the hang of it, it’s so fun. I have most always felt support and trust from management. It isn’t terribly difficult to get time off and they offer a benefits plan for fully time employee. It definitely varies from clinic to clinic. The busier clinics are a lot harder as they are fast paced. If you can meet that pace and enjoy quick thinking they’re perfect. The slower clinics are nice too. You get to know the patients well. The only issue that caused problems for me is often the practitioners do not understand how difficult it is to be a clinic assistant. They pay admin fees so often they treat you like a personal assistant, and forget that you manage multiple practitioners at once and have entirely separate job duties of your own. Expectations of you are high, but reasonable. The problem with the busier clinics is that the expectations of you are higher, but the pay is the same. Regardless, I think the pay is fair for the expectations. I feel respected and appreciated by optimum wellness centres and I would recommend working there. 

A typical day can see hundreds of patients. You are expected to run the clinic have time to rebook, run insurance, answer phones, take care of practitioners and maintain a smile on your face at all times. It's not easy. I loved the job but the culture was lacking. Practitioners can be nice but you can't trust anyone. The manager loves to talk to people and will get up from the desk and leave to talk to patients or practitioners or even private phone calls and leave you to do all the work. The manager will also leave on her lunch break and say they have to do banking etc and won't come back for hours. The other CA'S are clicky and will say rude things to you and will give you the work they are supposed to do/help with like cleaning of the clinic and scanning/uploaded to patients files. The owner of the clinic seems to have no say and when there is an issue doesn't seem to care. Says what did the manager say. Seems to hide behind the manager and take no responsibility for his business. Benifit package sucks. Doesn't have much in it and is expensive for what you get. Seems like the cheapest blue cross plan you can get. Pay is OK but is below the standard for a CA position. 

When you sign on with this company, no one tells you , you will be seeing clients that are in lawsuits, and will be treating them for FREE till their court case settles. It could be 10 years before you see their settlement! Cheeky Front desk people will tell you, it's like a savings account and one day you will get this big cheque!! Doesn't pay my mortgage though does it?? They will also stagger your percentage. So you might start out with a higher percentage( they want to help you build your clientelle) and you do a ton of these Freebee clients (Irrevocable) at that rate, but when they finally pay you out, it will be be at your CURRENT percentage which might be lower as they can't seem to feed enough clients to you. All I can say, as well as anyone else I know who has worked there...is: DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THEM!! RUN!!! FAR AWAY!!! You deserve a better work place, even if you are right out of school!! Plenty of places that will treat you right and pay you properly when you are NEW. I learned the hard way..Please..DO NOT WORK HERE!!

I strongly advise potential candidates to think twice before accepting a position at Optimum Wellness Centre. The promises made by top management during the hiring process are completely misleading, and once you start working, you quickly realize that. But, if you care about money only, you can try to go here. 

The work environment is extremely toxic, with staff members engaging in unprofessional behavior, gossip, and favoritism. Instead of fostering teamwork and support, the clinic is filled with negativity and backstabbing. Some of the staffs are not only incompetent but also manipulative. Gaslighting is a common tactic used to make employees doubt their own experiences. 

If you're looking for a healthy and professional workplace, this is not it. There are far better opportunities out there where your skills and mental well-being will be valued. Avoid this place if you can!

Do what you love, love what you do. If you put in the work and are truly passionate about your field, the opportunities within Optimum are endless. The culture and atmosphere are upbeat and positive, the team environment encourages growth. The more you become involved, the more you will learn - from how you choose to practice, to how to run a business, and everything in between. There are plenty of opportunities for mentorship, and systems in place for assistance on everything from marketing to bookkeeping to techniques. Don't expect patients/clients to magically walk through the door, but with the guidance of experienced practitioners, a thriving practice is attainable and you will be rewarded for the work that you put in.

On top of the 60% therapists are payed. The head office takes a huge chunk out of our salary for admin and appointment fees. I understand that we get bookings through our admin, however if you're a therapist that does not see a lot of patients then it's a huge blow to your income. Head office seems to focus on their more established therapists than their new ones. Meaning, you'll probably sit in your massage room for 8 hours hoping that at least one patient comes in. Weeks with open schedules but head office does not give you the resources, nor book you with patients. Chiropractors and physio with full schedules. it seems like massage therapist have to start from zero. Thanks optimum for advertising the average salary of a massage therapist. Most of your therapist don't even make close to what you advertise. Other than that staff are friendly and encouraging.
