My day was 10 hrs in length; on a daily basis i was responsible for the cleanliness of a 49 unit trailer; with 8 unisex bathrooms/showers. I was able to utilize my time management skills to ensure that all the tasks necessary were carried out on a daily basis in the time permitted.

My co-workers were a great group of men & women, they were able to  provide assistance and knowledge to help me become more efficient. The only downfall was staff shortages, when this was the case we were required to rework our schedule to ensure all trailers in the compound were cleaned on a daily basis, this sometimes meant splitting another trailer with a co-worker to ensure the job was complete.

This camp was a relief camp for flood victims and I sincerely enjoyed working with the individuals and families that were displaced from their homes. Was a great experience, that I would do all over again.

I had returned home in November and was offered a position, unfortunately the funding for this position was not concrete, therefore I had resigned my position prematurely.

Working as a janitor for outland was great .the way that I got trained was exceptional I never realized how much hard work there was. Very early start and long hours.very tedious work. there was never a moment in which you had nothing to do. being a janitor took a whole new meaning. i worked out on a well site with all the rig guys. i was in charged of making sure that all  15 small buildings were taken care of . i worked around workers at desk   jobs and then all the crews (150)people that came in for there time at camp. my duties included cleaning all offices and all bathrooms. and the boardrooms. mopping sweeping dusting. taking out garages and replacing them.  and making sure that the main lunchroom was tidy all day long and at the end of the day that all recycling and garbage  was taking out to designated spot away from the main buildings. at the very end  of day I made sure that the company vehcile was parked in the right spot and all tidy and ready to be used the next day. all  kilometers were logged and written down and how much  fuel left.

Tree planting is not for the everyday person. The work is hard and is not for the squeamish or the weak-willed. Expect not to make money for at least 3 if you are new. The Ontario forests swamps. At one point in time, you will freeze from the cold rain and faint by the hot sun. As a first-year, it was my pleasure to be able to plant 3k in a single day along with my team who each planted over 3k. This was no easy feat as we were 11 out of at least 60 individuals and we by the end of the year totalled over 1/4 of the camp's production. 

The pros of the jobs are the money once you start getting into it. and the parties. in two months you can earn between 7 - 10k as a first-year. One person, if she had stayed 2 more weeks, would have made more in her first year. People are all chill. and the food is great. 

At the start of the season which typically for most companies starts at the end of the spring semester for university students. There are nights where you could freeze if not prepared. But in June and some time in July it can get above 30 degrees Celcius

I worked at the white river OUTLAND camp, overall i would never go back. Myself i had a awful time with management, my manager expected too much out of the staff, with herself taking 30 min- 1 hour smoke breaks and left stuff that needed to get done to the very little staff that we had. she continually asked to much. When someone confronted her about asking too much, you got meet with anger and resentment. When you had a issue with a room that you had to clean, you take it to the manager and usually nothing got done about the issue. Like once a guy continually kept peeing in a bottle that got on his sheets (that you have to clean) and leaves it all for you to clean up, and nothing got done about it for weeks. The only good thing i have too add is the coworkers. i had many amazing coworkers they were so friendly with myself, and the mine workers. You get a great relationship with your coworkers and the mine workers.

Great company to work for. A real team that supports it's staff and encourages initiative. 
I have worked for Outland for the past year and have found the company to be outgoing and forward thinking. They put the clients needs first and take care with details to ensure that clients feel as comfortable and at home, as possible. Camp life can be difficult and stressful for everybody as it involves long hours and being away from home for extended periods of time. Outland gets that and tries to create as comfortable a situation ad possible for both clients and staff. I found the food much better than other camp caterers I have worked for. Essentially, if you work hard and care about what you do, then you will fit in at Outland.

It was physically and time demanding, but was very satisfying. Good team spirit of all personnel who worked with me (save for one). 12 hour shifts without a break most days, but lucky for them i can't sit still for more than 2 minutes anyway. When camp had 120+ men, it was challenging to get everything done... we really needed a full time breakfast cook at the 125 man mark, but it all managed to get done. the hardest part was working with a key co-worker (who was supposed to be Red Seal) but was lazy, somewhat incompetent and not a team player, thus putting more workload on the rest of us. Other than that, it was awesome. The rooms were clean, warm, beds comfy, and had tv and internet... nice little sanctuary after a hard shift.

The company shows no loyalty when your camp shuts down and you are laid off. You have to try and find another camp on your own, as if you had never worked there. 

The camp life suits me and I enjoyed the camaraderie and took pride in my work until the last camp where the manager treated it like her personal fiefdom and we were her minions. She undermined us at every opportunity, constantly correcting or micromanaging until you were so confused and insecure that you began to have a mental breakdown.
The company doesnt know who you are and doesn't care. 
The money is good as they pay overtime and we work 77 hours a week for 3 weeks. 
Outland is probably no better or worse than other camp catering companies, with the exception of my last camp, which was a nightmare.

What is the best part of working at the company?
was nice to work there but soon as a philipino lady works, she didn't work at all, was on her phone most of the time or taking off somewhere else.

a co worker did not work,  a philipino lady

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
was nice to work there,  i also met some really good workers,  when the covid it was nice to see the manager made sure that the workers were safe from the sickness, hardly anyone got sick only if they came back from there 2 weeks off.  The head cook were great.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
6-6pm but when the covid began, we would work from 8 am to 8 pm

Long hours in a day (somedays up to 14)
No overtime hours because of the day rate contracts.
Low standards for management (They will hire anyone when in need)
You can advance up in the business if you are ready to do so. They were pretty good for that. The main boss can be ignorant and self centered. He will not show sympathy, empathy or even admit when he is wrong because he is too caught up in his business lifestyle. The executive staff are great and very skilled. They taught me a lot and I am still in contact with them today. If you would like a normal camp job, want the run around and don't mind no benefits and day rates apply here.

Out land Camp is an alright place to work. The money isn't bad and the hours are decent. But its hard to work there because the schedule is never up, the manager is all over the place changing the schedule when she does make it, so you never really know when you work. A typical day at work could be one of three things, either i'm housekeeping, making sandwiches/serving food, or washing dishes. My co-workers are great, we get along famously. I'm good at my job so I don't really have any challenges. My favorite part of my job is making sandwiches and serving food because I get to interact with the guys that come there.
