Oh Pepsico Fritolay, where do we begin? So at first working in this “finely established” “rich and fun” “professional” organization you tend to think, hmm this place isn’t have bad, getting good hours having good trainers, but then you slowly come to a realization that this place, this place is absolute garbage. They treat you like a robot over working you and not paying you a dime extra, constantly sizing you up against eachother like you’re in some type of competition, yet you dont get paid for extra by doing any extra work. Which YES at other companies if you do more then the average you get paid an extra bit of money at the end of the day, depending on how much more you do. Which brings me to this, if you go out of your way all the time and constantly do more then an average employee is supposed to do, like take leadership on the floor, pull out bulk trucks, plug them in, clean up the facility to a tee, train peers how to safely and effectively do the job properly ( BECAUSE YES THERE IS A PROPER WAY TO DO THE JOB example Picking up your boards, pulling porduct up, NOT clocking in and out of job codes to make your rates faster, actually doing the job how its meant to be done.) they dont care they just look at you like some idiot and may take shifts away from you just because they may not like you, well sorry your HR idiot may not like you. also picking more cases then Your supposed to, they just reward you with more cases the next day. This place also loves to choose favorites, especially if you know how to kiss butt and ride the managers croch. If your good at doing that type of thing and putting on pretty lipstick and puckering up to some nice hairy cheeks, dont worry your existence  in that company will go far. Anyways thats establishing that the management is corrupt and absolutely pathetic, they dont understand the job nor care to recognize when youve done something extraordinary comparing to an average worker. If your a hard worker you better emphasize yourself and shine light up on it or else someone will throw u under the bus and take your credit, people are shady so dont think for a second your in the clear. Im talking about managers by the way, they will say in an email that they got the extra cases done because they motivated you to do them or something in the lines of making themselves sound good. Leads in there absolutely sad and pathetic they are looked at way too highly of and have the biggest power tripping problems. They are supposed to make your days go easy by being the most established and knowledgeable on the floor, but that is never the case,because these dudes got their lipstick in their purses and high heels on and know how to ride that crotch to get that position and as soon as they get the position they sit down in an office all day and act as if they’re busy yet they take 2-3 hour lunches and disappear for long periods of time and the bosses have no clue of what goes on, people are so easily manipulated in there its not even funny, you put on a fake smile and play the whoa is me card a couple of times they basically look past all the truths and fall for all the lies being spat into their ears. One last thing about these bosses, some of them are unquestionably unqualified for the positions they’re in and know how to hold grudges like little females in high school. That being said, if it was me in that position id learn real fast on who to trust and not to trust, the job is easy and mindless if you know how to play your cards right, just do the absolute minimum from the beginning they wont fire you, theyre too lazy or scared. Make sure you eventually pick up the paste  because whats the point of doing your absolute best when someone there is doing the absolute bare minimum and still getting paid the exact same as you 

In conclusion Pepsico Fritolay is the worst company and organization ive ever worked for in my entire life. They have the worst attitudes and dont know how to forgive and give someone another chance, as soon as you have done something to upset someone in management or by sinply having a bad day or maybe by calling in for actually legitimately being sick they write you off completely and have no cares in the world if you come in the next day and absolutely kill it. Or if you eventually get really good and confident in the job they still want more from you. So dont be surpirsed if you get way more cases then Someone who does barely anything. The people in there that you work with though i will say is the ONLY thing that actually make the job worth while. And probably is the only reason why people are still there to this day. If it was me re applying and i knew what this job held id say absolutely not and move on to my next best option. So good luck if you dont go for this job and my condolences to you if you do.

I loved working here.  I was on a contact and they didn't need me at the end (end of summer/busy season).  Pay is phenomenal for the amount of work you do.  If you do Route Sales you're making at least 50 grand a year.  Drivers make a flat rate of 200/day, my typical day as a driver - I started at 3AM to load my truck, normally finished around 11AM.  Some days were 10 hours (which they base your pay on.  4 days a week working, 10/hours a day flat rate).  I had maybe 3 11/12 hour days because of long wait times for other trucks to deliver and get out of the bay.  I had about 5 days where I was done my delivers and back in shop heading back home and I only worked a total of 5-6 hours (still getting that full days pay feels great!).

As a Route Sales Rep you load your truck, drive to your stores, drop off the chips and merchandise them on to the shelves.  Place your order, and go to the next store.  You get a flat 8.5% commission on the product you deliver to the store.  Typically I was taking home about 850/week on average.  Working 8-11 hours a day, 5 days a week.  When busy season really started, I got moved to delivery driver.  If I was able to stay on as Route Sales Rep during the summer I would have been pulling in about 1400/week after taxes.  Some Route Sales Rep guys make 75k a year... to deliver and merchandise chips... not bad.  Some days you have to haul but, it's not heavy work, but you have to move fast if you don't want your day to be 14 hours long.

Co workers are awesome, friendly, helpful.  You really only see them in the warehouse when you're loading your truck or at the end of your shift.  Management are mostly bright, friendly and helpful.  Most of them have been through the ropes so they know what you're dealing with and can empathize.

Hardest part of the job: I'd have to say dealing with your hand held and printer... it can be frustrating when you have to reboot your handheld and waste 15 minutes of your time.  As a delivery driver, you have to download your trip - and that normally only takes 25 minutes, so you do that while your loading your truck - no time wasted.  But when there's an issue and it takes 2-3 hours to download and you're sitting there for 2 hours or longer waiting for it to finish, and you're not making any more money for your longer day... well... it's frustrating.  You don't know if it will finish in 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 3 hours... so you just wait there for it... you don't even want to leave to grab a coffee because 10 seconds after you leave it could finish.

Perks: Pay is great!  Easiest money I ever made.  I've had jobs working 10 times more physical and made 1/2 as much.  I've had jobs in IT using my brain 5X as much and made just a little less than working here.  If you get on full time - you have a company pension, flex benefits and RRSP matching.

Unionized so you start at the bottom which usually means straight night shifts Monday-Friday. You also start out $2/hr less than starting until your probation is over (300 hours if I remember correctly) then it’s $1/hr less than starting until you’ve completed your first year.

Maintenance crew on night shift is very friendly and helpful (when they show up, very big attendance issue). In maintenance, you are provided with a tool chest but have to supply your own tools. It took them 4 months until they provided me with the tool chest and also it took 6 months before they provided me with uniforms/coveralls, hopefully it’ll be faster for you.

Store room is poorly stocked and managed. Lots of times where a part you need isn’t there.   How it’s organized also makes little sense so it can be a chore trying to find a specific part. The planners are relatively inexperienced so there are a few situations where a job is poorly planned (sometimes between changeovers when you only have a short window to complete it) and it leads to more downtime.

Maintenance Supervisors (“Resources”) can vary. I’ve had a couple that had zero maintenance experience so working under them can be challenging. On the other hand, I’ve had a couple that were great to work with. They don’t seem to stick around too long though, they either quit or they’re let go entirely. What the criteria is for hiring the supervisors remains a mystery to me, I never figured it out.

Single-handedly, the worst place I have ever worked at when it comes to communication. Jobs are passed off between shifts with almost no direction or information from the previous shift as they are gone by the time you get to the job and the supervisors have no clue what the problem was or what was done to it.

It could be because I was on night shift but I never saw or heard anything from management, which I guess could be a good thing? Depends how you look at it I guess but I rarely saw or interacted with them. I would describe it as very “hands-off” unless something went wrong.

So to recap, the pros are:
-Friendly and helpful coworkers
-Fair pay (what I consider fair anyway)
-Relatively laid back for the most part
-The weekly chip sales are a very good deal
-$250 yearly tool allowance
-Optional overtime, never mandatory although in my experience, they never say no to it if you ask

Cons:
-Poor communication every way you can imagine. Adds unnecessary stress.
-Attendance/“man-power” issues
-Most likely straight night shift until you build up enough seniority to bid for another shift (likely at least a couple of years)

Work here used to be fun and there was a solid culture in place. People were respected and the company took care of its employees and ensured that people were happy.

Over the last few years there has been a drastic change in the way the company operates. No one listens when there is problems - it always comes to down to people not working hard enough. Doesn’t matter if the execution plans to hit an astronomical target are lacking in customer support or are just simply unrealistic - “you’re just not working hard enough!”. The fingers are always pointed to the frontline and their perceived “inability to execute”, no one higher level is ever really held accountable for improper or flaky communication, or for a lack of clear direction. “Control what you control” is uttered 10 times daily by every manager and employee.  The company loves to do a million things really poorly instead of focusing on a few key things and doing them very well. 

 The majority of retail customers the frontline have to deal with on a daily basis are miserable and awful to PepsiCo employees. The grocery industry is not a happy place - I don’t know anyone that actually loves working in it or around it. This will not change...ever. Not PepsiCo’s fault but if you’re reading this and searching for a job in the industry, it’s important to know this. Not everyone is miserable, but there are a lot of them and trust me, just a single encounter with one can ruin your whole day. And you will encounter at least one person like this, per day if you are working in the retail grocery stores. As a rep or vendor you are “guests” in their stores - therefore they have every right to treat you like trash if they see fit. Grocery store managers love to go on power trips and take their frustrations out on vendors in their stores - get a thick skin now. You’ll need it.

There are virtually no staff events anymore with PepsiCo (their vision of a staff event is getting frontline staff to drive to an airport hotel, miles away from anywhere central, DURING prime work hours - Just to hold a meeting. But hey there’s sandwiches!)  There is no plan to rebuild any sort of culture, and the company continues to lay off people and workloads are increased for remaining managers and frontline without any sort of compensation.

Guess you should be happy you have a job right? That about sums up the culture at PepsiCo. No thanks!

Day to day life of warehouse tech is easy enough, you'll start with pre shift and then depending if you can drive forklift or not you'll either be working on the pick belt with a partner loading trailer and rotating after breaks. Or you'll be driving fork loading trailers either by hand or just dropping off pallets and moving product around the warehouse. There is an expectation to maintain a work speed to keep your numbers up for the day but from my experience if you go negative a few times in a week it's not the end of the world. New hires can look forward to forklift training after 3-4 months a long with a nice pay increase. Seasonal hires won't get trained on forklift but often times they have a chance at full employment and forklift training. 

Management can be hit or miss depending on the shift you work some supervisors are more laxed then others. Upper management seems to try and provide different ways for communication but often ends up in delayed response. 

The people I have met be it management or just fellow everyday workers over all have been nice and welcoming. If I had any questions during training or something I've never encountered before people were more then willing to help or direct me to someone who could help. 

The hardest part of the job is maintaining your numbers especially during summer when its super busy and hot. This job is very physical and the standards that are set to meet your numbers in my option aren't very forgiving or realistic especially when driving forklift where any number of problems could arise killing your numbers. 

The most enjoyable part of this job was being rewarded for the amount of effort you put in, we use to get gift cards and the money value would based on your numbers so the more effort you put in the better. Outside of that where I work in summer they provide frozen treats or Gatorade and there's a chip store you can buy cases of chips for super cheap.

Overall I would say this is a decent company to work for, The people are nice and the pay/benefits are decent and you get paid OT.

You are expected to drive 40' tractor trailer into places that they do not belong. The company will sacrifice safety for delivery. I have had 8 managers/supervisors/interns in the last 4 years, none of which had any driving or delivery experience. The trucks break down daily, the trailers are trashed and full of black mold, and this is the second summer of no AC (they continue to look into it), and the equipment is always broken, or falling apart. The "Drivers Board" is based on seniority, based on hire date, and based on work available, so many times your left waiting for a 4:30 am phone call each day that doesn't come. You have an option to Merchandise (fill store shelves) for far less pay and tends to be more work, all while driving your own vehicle to each store. Many times you only get two driving shifts a week and on those two days senior drivers are in on OT or Double OT. If a route opens up and nobody takes it you are forced based on seniority to take it, often times being thrown on a 7pm-3am night shift 5 days a week, usually with 2 days notice. As a new driver, with the least seniority this is the route you will start on. 3 days off in a row are rare, even after working 4x10's they will call you with one day off and expect you to come in. This is not a company you want to try and start out in, their is no advancement, you lose any and all seniority if you leave the drivers board to work in the warehouse or anywhere else in the country in the same position. There is no schedule, no routine, and must be available 6 days a week.

A typical day at PepsiCo involves fast-paced quality checks, constant coordination with production, and making sure standards don’t slip under pressure. I’ve learned a lot about HACCP, GMPs, food safety, documentation, and how things work on a high-speed line.
Management, especially local to middle, is where things fall apart. Decisions are inconsistent, communication is poor, and accountability is selective. There’s a clear gap between what they preach and what they practice. Good ideas often get ignored if you’re not a favorite, and there’s little respect for experience or ground realities.
Culture on the floor is driven more by the people than leadership. Union staff and coworkers carry the load with grit and teamwork.
The hardest part is dealing with poor leadership and watching capable people get passed over. The most enjoyable part? The team on the floor. They’ve got your back when things go sideways.

Seemed like a promising job at first but a few months in i realized how bad it actually was. Management was a complete joke, never around if you needed help and massive favouritism. Useless mandatory (and unpaid) meetings almost every week. They expect you to make this job your life with constant emails they want you to read and meetings you must attend. If you dont have high seniority there then say goodbye to all of your weekends as they will make you a swing driver which has a thursday to monday schedule every week. Good luck getting any time off you want either as they bid for vacation time at the start of each year and all the good weeks get taken quick by higher seniority people. Their trucks have constant issues and warehouse messes up orders/loading trucks fairly often leading to longer days. Merchandising the chips is very tedious work and having to work around people shopping can be frustrating. Management will always push you to sell more even if its a store that doesnt sell a lot leading you to have stale bags that come off your pay. Talking to other drivers it sounded like it was once a pretty good job but the company always cutting the commisions to profit more make it not really worth it anymore. Seemed like most of the long time drivers have just been working there too long and have nowhere else to go.

All in all its just not a good place to work unless youve been there a long time and have a good monday to friday route close to the building.

Worst company to work for. Zero Communication, poor pay especially when given extra work/tasks to do daily, which is every day.
Management if out of touch of what a human is able to do in a day and too afraid of upper management to say NO.
This company doesn't want to hear suggestions of how to improve. Their new system of Dynamic routing is an absolute and complete failure.Months and months of absolutely poor and disruptive deliveries, highlights that the company doesn't care about their customers. Management refused to listen to drivers concerns, even when management hold meetings.
The new ordering system, precision ordering is a waste of time and energy. Management told staff to ignore the instructors that were briefed and to always modify the orders to bring in more product. The question is then why bring in an ordering system if staff is not able to utilize it  in the manner it was designed for.
If you bring any observations as constructive criticism you will be labelled as being difficult.
They only way Pepsico continues to grow is they force product into stores thru auto allocations. 
Bringing in Sales Management team (CDMs)directly out of University with little life experiences and placing them in charge of growing multi million dollar accounts, stores managements connect and respond better to more mature staff, especially since the CDMs change over yearly.
Run away from this company.

Never work at Pepsi with a salary/commission pay structure. You will have merchandisers that get paid by the hour not doing anything. I had one merchandiser tell me “I don’t care if the shelves stay empty I get my 40 hours no matter what’. If shelves stay empty you don’t get paid very well. Told his manager and was told there is nothing that can be done about. To add salt to the wound I heard he might get my job because of his collage degree. What kind of manager would do this after all the warnings??? So you will find yourself stocking shelves to get a decent paycheque and adding more hours to your week. Be prepared to spend lots of money on your own vehicle that you will have to use. Yes the reimburse some of your vehicle expenses however if you can’t do your own repairs it’s not enough. The targets were next to impossible on my route. You will get display targets that you have to meet each quarter. Take pictures and submit and if there is something missing you have to go back to the account and do it over again. Customers and some coworkers I considered to be my friends however management didn’t even care I was leaving the company. After 37 years I didn’t even get a goodbye. That made my decision to to leave a wise choice. These young college or university management have no clue about how the beverage industry works or how to treat customers. All they care about is numbers. If you want to work here become a truck driver.
