Left home at sometimes 545am In the winter go to the corners of the city on the henday in the worst possible conditions to start at 645am. Get home by 530 do this 4 times a week with one short day Friday (home by 3) depends on work site of course as it will vary I’m just relaying how it was at times.  Work your tail off. Climb sometimes 70+ floors a day. Drop a deuce in minus 20. Invest about $200 in tools. 

No recognition from owner - quite thankless in many ways. never reached out beyond interview stage. 

Was laid off less than 4 months. Found same 1st year job reposted online on kijiji a few week after this, even though I worked hard every day never late. 

Benefits were good though and I used these to my full advantage while I could. 

Bright spot- Journeyman and coworkers/ most of these guys were very good to me and most guys had high work ethic and were very patient and that’s very important for first year)

I felt some were unhappy after being there for so long but that’s just my view. 

Wasn’t sad to leave.


 





Working for Petrin has had its ups and downs but everyone I’ve worked with has been lovely, supportive and helped me achieve my goals I hoped to achieve by coming into this organization.

The management team is comprised of people that understand what it’s like to work in the field as many of them are journeyman plumbers themselves. Despite the size of this company, it feels like a small family run business. Even higher up management is easy to reach and will sort any problems you have in a timely fashion.

This company is also very safety focused and will make accommodations to fit your needs in a timely and caring fashion.

Typical construction plumbing company, only with far less pay for journeymen/women than comparable companies. Tons of nepotism and a huge disconnect between the office and the field guys. Had everyone sign an hour averaging agreement on the promise that if we worked 9 hour days from Monday to Thursday then Friday would be a half day so guys could go and get errands done that they would usually miss a day for. They only stuck to this agreement for a few weeks and then had us working four 9's and an eight on Fridays but without overtime pay because of the hour averaging agreement. If you spoke up about it then your job was threatened. Would not send even my worst enemy to Petrin.

I started my apprenticeship here. Was probably my favorite employer of my trades career. Wages are a little higher. Never a problem getting material. Never a problem getting paid on time. Excellent Christmas parties and summer golf tourneys. They are particular about how they want things done however (ie: no power tools on mechanical joints. no clear primer on PVC joints they want to see the dye) Office management leaves a little to be desired on social skills, but straight shooters and smart.

Overall great experience with this company.  Sadly I was laid off due to economic difficulties and lack of overall work.  I learnt a lot of valuable skills with this company from very talented and caring superiors who helped and made me really enjoy and appreciate the work I was doing.  My only wish is that I could have continued to grow and learn within such  brilliant atmosphere and under a great management team, but now I am hoping to continue with a new company and put forth my experience and thrive under a new organization.

Broke into plumbing here and had the opportunity to learn alot. Got to experiance working on just about everything you can do in plumbing here but can be a tough environment at times. They have their favorites and its hard to become one. Do not expect to get into real plumging right away your first few months will be just acting as a pack mule and it can be quite thankless. Most people don't make it past there first week and this company is like a revolving door. Pay is low and responsibility is high but not a bad place to get your feet wet.

Worked here for many years. The company has great respect in the industry  and are standing role models in the Mechanical trades services. From multi-story to commercial projects they are the leaders.

You'll find some good guys working here and the pay meets or is above-average from what I find in the area. My only complaint is that they just treat you like a worker in the office not like a human which is pretty common in the industry I guess.

great hours , good place to learn commercial and light industrial plumbing, wages are comparable to other companies, home every night unless working out of town...

- they were all about productivity but were very helpful and understanding when I didn't know how to do something.
