I’m proud to work for Pivot Point Family Growth Centre. The organization truly cares about the people we serve and the staff who make it all happen. There’s a strong sense of purpose in the work, and it's amazing to see the difference being made in families’ lives.

Management is supportive and approachable, and there’s a lot of flexibility in scheduling, which makes it easier to balance work and personal life. The team environment is collaborative, and there are always opportunities to learn and grow.

Sometimes it takes a little longer to get answers or decisions, but it’s clear that everyone is doing their best to improve systems and communication as the company grows.

Overall, Pivot Point is a great place to work if you value meaningful work, flexibility, and a positive, supportive culture!

I worked as a lead instructor for several years, and eventually it just became too ridiculous for the little pay. One of the managers of the program is living under a rock stuck in the 60s. Too many unrealistic expectations and rules. For example, no use of electronics for any students at any time of day, even though for middle school students, technology is one of the most reinforcing activities after working hard to complete assignments. Not to mention, the students are all enrolled in ONLINE SCHOOLS, so how is it reasonable for students to NOT be using technology?

The other program manager, and all of my coworkers were always so lovely and supportive, though. I miss the kids, but not the overly stressful and demanding work for barely more than $20/hour.

Management is full of nepotism - only hiring their underqualified friends and friends of friends. Local management will tell you that they love to hear feedback and your ideas. However, that only applies if what you're telling them aligns with their views; if you're not patting them on the back, they don't want to hear from you.
Everything that I was told about Pivot Point and what they stood for upon being hired was completely thrown out the window by local management, and what was created was a toxic, dictatorship environment.
Pretty disappointing experience working here. Easily the poorest leadership I've ever encountered at any job. 

If there is a specific job you are interested in, ensure you understand how long they have been looking for people, and what trouble they have in filling the position. As many care providers do in BC, they take funding through what is given to the primary caregivers through the ministry, and use that money to hire staff to support the parent, pay administration, consultants etc. on behalf of the primary caregiver. They are therefore incentivized to keep clients at all cost. So employment is not based on any more complex criteria than 'are you liked'. If you end up working with a great person, you won't be judged on how well you succeed with them, but rather if you can appease their primary caregiver. Some of them are exceedingly thin skinned. 

This organization cares only about money developmentally disabled individuals can bring them, not about actually serving or supporting this population. Managers spend majority of their time on useless meetings instead of supporting staff, the pay is terrible for workload, and you will not be paid for all your travel. You will be paid a "training wage" to start and after that at times youll be asked to travel 12 hours to (paid) training at your own expense. Staff turnover is unbelievable because staff get paid 25% of what theyre charging families, theres a ton of unpaid work, and inconsistent hours. I was personally asked to forge a document for a manager on more than one occasion. Run away!

You can work your tail off here and watch people with lower work ethic and poor attitudes make more money than you, while maintaining managements good side. 

Don’t bother speaking out about things that are unfair or unjust as this will ALWAYS be overlooked by middle and upper management and nothing will be done. 

Management will clearly pick favourite staff members and treat others as though they should not be there. And while on the topic, if you are hired to work in any program other than Complex Care prepare for other colleagues to treat like you as though you are unimportant. 

Overall, would not recommend working here to my worst enemy.

Although the work is quite independent, working 1:1 with children and youth with diverse needs, the Behaviour Consultant and Program Assistants are super supportive and able to provide help.
I like how Pivot Point also has Mental Health and Education Programs, providing a multi-lens approach when needed. The training offered, in each of these areas of support, is very useful.


Pivot Point FGC is a fantastic place to work. They realize that the staff are human beings with human needs. The work with families is supported by management and is very fulfilling. The Guiding principles and values are consistent with who I am so I feel like it is a fit. I love the variety of services that they offer families and people with disabilities. 

I would not count on this job for getting 40 hrs a week unless you are a professional or in management.Your hours will never be consistent. The job requires lots of driving to and from clients home. This would be good for a student or someone that wants to top up their income while having another job. The Management is supportive of their staff and they are flexible with appointments , vacation etc. 

I have been working with Pivot Point for a bit over a year now and I love it! I feel incredibly supported by our team, everybody is communicative and collaborative, and I am never in a shortage of help if I need it. I have never felt so appreciated in a workplace. I love the relationships I've built with the children, youth and families I work with, as well as the community. If you're thinking about applying, do it!
