What is the best part of working at the company?
Being able to create your own schedule to fit your lifestyle and the opportunity to work at multiple sites and experience different settings.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Having to follow multiple sets of policies and procedures, both from the company and the facility you are working at. Remembering who to call for what and when and what you can and can’t do as agency staff.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Warm and welcoming, they are always so excited to have new team members! They are happy to work with you to find a facility that is a good fit for you and/or make sure you are comfortable working in given scenarios. In my experience everything has been over the phone or through Zoom calls so you rarely go into the office. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Typically you check your StaffStat to see what shifts are available and try to keep up with your minimum monthly commitment(3 shifts a month at that time). If it’s a day you’re working, you get ready as usual and head to the facility. Sign in in the Plan A binder and go about your shift as normal. At the end of the day you sign out in the binder and return any keys. There is also usually an app for education and you check that routinely to keep up on any documents or education that needs doing.

If you are a new recruiter, you will learn a lot- the day is extremely busy and you grasp a lot, for a recruiter with experience, it’s not for you- lots of micromanagement. They should have been on an HRIS ages back especially when you have more than 3000 candidates on your database. Employees with small children- there is no regard and very little flexibility for things. They did tell me that they ll accommodate when my child was sick and they did but brought it up at every review meeting bi-weekly- that they have been flexible but the email numbers are still up (when emails were a group effort) and I need to come up with a better childcare plan (cos my daughter was in the team morning meetings- never once I said that I cannot complete the tasks given or attend a meeting- just asked flexibility at the end of the day as my 2 year old was not well (along with her babysitter who had the same sickness ) not a very supportive atmosphere. Managers from other teams pick on their subordinates during the morning team meetings. I was very disappointed. Hope they change their management style soon as 4 recruiters have quit in last 8 months. Good luck.

I can’t say enough about this company.  I love being part of their team.

The owners/management treat you like a human being.  They know you have a life outside of work; and while their performance expectations are high for good reason, they are also there to support you when you need them which is a quality most healthcare employers do not possess.  They will always go to bat for you and they will always speak highly of their staff prospective clients.

In terms of workload, you have to keep in mind that you are a stranger going into long term care homes.  Sometimes it can be overwhelming because you don’t know the residents, but once you get the hang of it, it gets easier to learn the home’s routines.  And when you struggle because of staff for example, or other means, management will be there to support you.

The pay is awesome for the industry.  And picking your own hours through the app makes your work/life balance perfectly manageable.

I highly recommend Plan A as an employer.  This is where you want to be if you’re a PSW.

Plan A is the best employer I've ever had! For many different reasons. They are prompt at getting back to you through phone call or email, when you have any questions or concerns. They also show concern when you are not well, to ensure everything is ok. 

Our employee benefits are very good, prescription drugs, and even eye care...I am extremely happy with our benefits, not to mention lots of perks to their employees.  The appreciation and recognition you receive for being a hard worker and good employee is very refreshing.

Plan A has given me employment, with benefits, that I was looking for, and having a hard time finding since finishing nursing school 5 years ago. They reimburse you for your yearly licensing and will offer programs we need on a yearly basis. 

My position allows me to have a better work life balance than any position I have had previously, the freedom to pick my own shifts, and also enjoy my well deserved time off as needed.

As an "agency" worker, you get matched with a local LTC home and fill hours that their staff cannot. Used to be worth it when we were getting paid more, but now the regular staff are getting paid more than us and they're expected to do less. They say you can choose your own schedule, but they call you every day asking you to take more shifts, work overtime, an extra weekend, etc. Minimum 3 shifts per week and 2 weekends a month, but they'll push you for more. Plus, even if you're on a line, you can get sent to any floor in the building without being trained or learning their residents/routines and expected to keep up. Theres a HUGE divide between the staff at the homes and the agency staff unless you've worked there FT for a long time. A lot of the time they're placing you out of town, no mileage reimbursement, and if you asked to switch locations they'll say nothing's available - and then immediately hire a new person to work in the city you requested. 

Joined this company more than year ago and have not worked once. Anytime I have inquired when job will be available I was told "hang on tight"? Or that the region doesn't allow for RN's to be given any shifts as they "don't need RNs at this time". No communication at all from management. You must use app to book shift which was then blocked for me for no reason. You have to also pay for the app which was not discussed at all. The Mississauga PLan A switched management and no communication regarding to this. The sad thing is that you have to complete lot of documents and paperwork on your own with no pay or orientation. No respect for hired RNs and rather hiring new staff instead offering job to staff hired. Too much hassle to be hired with no jobs. They vet you as if you were to work for the Queen and then no jobs?Don't waste your time with this company PLAN A Mississauga or Halton!

I was hired for the position for recruiter and Scheduler. These guys will involve you in meetings, meetings and a lot of meetings in training period ( your first week itself) even when you're not needed to attend those. And the meeting will last for atleast an hour or two. P.S there are atleast 3-4 meetings each day. Instead of training on software and other daily tasks, they will indulge your whole day with meetings and still expect you to be better on working with software and other stuffs. Because of their meetings, it leaves you no time even to finish your other work. They badly lack time management as well as prioritizing tasks. And due to lack of training, they will review your performance and ask you to resign as you don't performed well. This company is a big time confidence breaker. Be aware abs and run as far as you can.


A typical day at work includes helping clients with personal care, meals, mobility, and making sure they feel safe and respected. I learned how to stay calm, be patient, and support people with different health needs. Management is supportive and always ready to guide me when needed. The workplace culture is friendly, caring, and team-focused. The hardest part of the job is dealing with emotional moments or when a client’s condition changes suddenly. The most enjoyable part is connecting with clients, seeing their appreciation, and knowing that I am making a positive difference in their daily life.


Good option for nursing students. Offers flexibility by choosing your own schedule. Unfortunately, not many hours are available, and it is based on seniority so the large staff pool is competing for very few shifts. Some LTC home staff do not seem to be educated regarding agency staff,  and often act rude or unwilling to provide training and support. I suggest that if the client is using Plan A, they make an effort to educate their staff of our potential presence and emphasize that we are there to help out, not cause a hassle and that their cooperation is necessary for the benefit of all. Some LTC home locations are also quite poorly run, and potentially unsafe. Run from these assignments for your own sanity!

I never worked for a nursing agency before, so I didn't know what to expect. Managers/owners contacted me for an interview within a few days after I submitted my resume online. The interview was via zoom due to the pandemic. Once you get hired, you will have the company handbook which is basically the policy and procedures, and you need to download the app where they will assign you the shifts after you provide your availability. You also have on-site training/orientation at the facility where you agree to work. Every step was very clear which made me feel that I was part of a very professional organization. I highly recommend this agency.
