I thought that being on a major infrastructure project was going to be fun during the pandemic despite the fact that I had a 40k setback in my annual pay. I gave them my confidence and it was my first time working for a major contractor but the Management decided to add people on top of the Org Chart that were more Boomer then the next oddball and they decided they were now your new Acendants despite the fact they had no clue about your expertise and no relation to your discipline whatsoever. Expenses paid for out of town trips after a month and free accusations of whatever they heard in the grapevines and free harassment and gaslight culture meaning they  have no major projects experience but sell that they do. Worst experience in my life. I will make sure they get out of my next projects. In fact they have many safety incidents on their sites. Would not recommend but they give out brown envelopes to get them civil projects if you enjoy Civil arrogant ignorant culture

I joined the Pomerleau team with an understanding that I  would be able to expand myself professionally with a comprehensive training program and a new mentor. This was far from what actually happened within 3 weeks of  getting my Alternate Company  Security Officer designation my manager left on vacation without leaving a training program in place. During weekly reviews I was told I was doing exceedingly well and had no complaints about my quality of work although there was no formal training program put in  place . Within weeks of my managers return I was let go offered 4 weeks severance without explanation 60 days before Christmas .   

Weeks later I saw that the position being offered was downgraded to a minor clerical position with minor responsibility in security. I surmised that as an ACSO I was there just to cover my bosses trip as two ACSO's are required to replace a company CSO when they're on vacation. 

Pomerleau is one of the leading construction companies in Canada obtaining projects in civil engineering, industrial and commercial.  It was founded in Quebec and has offices in six different provinces.  

The team is always changing, relocating employees from all over which makes the working day all the more exciting because you never know whom you will be working with next.  

It is definitely not boring, there is always something to be done every minute of everyday and one day is never the same as another.

This being construction, there are always stressful situations and sometimes long hours; however, there is always a team backing you up. Pomerleau has a very competitive Vacation Package and summer hours that allow me to spend more time with my family.

Excellent.  Very positive safety culture. Training and continuous improvement  with inspections leading to corrective actions is the notm

Writing documentations, training on documents, observing and inspecting

Working with this organization I am on a fly in/fly out schedule. They are really great about providing me with adequate time off the job site in oder to ensure I perform to my fullest when at work. This organization always ensures that their workers are comfortable while living on the road and provide great housing units. Management is knowledge and experts in their fields, and the resources and support provided within this organization is in abundance.

The job itself required strong organizational skills and attention to detail, which I appreciated. However, support from management was limited, and communication felt inconsistent. The workplace culture lacked inclusiveness, some employees seemed to be treated more favorably than others, and opportunities for growth were not equally accessible. The hardest part was navigating this environment. The most enjoyable part was taking pride in doing quality work, despite the challenges.

Started here and they had the worst training program. I didn’t have any direction and just got thrown into big responsibilities and then got punished when I didn’t do something right. Very on edge working here with people always looking over your shoulder and talking behind your back. Very little opportunities for advancement. Got let go from the company with no explanation at all. When I would work through my lunches every single day to get my things done. Very poorly managed office. Wouldn’t recommend anyone working here.

Not the worst construction company I worked for but it was stressful mainly due to the site I was working at.

Was definitely treated differently from their other workers due to the fact I only spoke English, if you want to work here and fit in you should be able to speak French fluently.
Besides the language barrier they weren't too bad to work for.

My yearly review went great, was told i was doing an excellent job. Within a month, they terminated my contract with no cause.  No warning, nothing, right before christmas. I quit another company much bigger than this to come work here and management had minimal knowledge on how to run projects and is for the most part non existent because they take more than a month of vacation per year. Keep it up Pomerleau, youre doing great!
