What is the best part of working at the company?
At the start i enjoyed working here, the pays was good the hours were okay, a little overtime here and there.
 Summer always sucked with early shifts when i started was almost always 10 hour days and later shifts getting a little less ot, it was pretty good and i liked it and when my personal life changed and i needed to change start times and departmwnts the process was easy and supportive.

But the last two years have made me regret ever starting here, to start i had 12 changes to my shift times and 5 department changed over a  12 month span resulting in no routine and of course a difficulty getting to work on time consistantly. 
When you call in more than once every month or punch in one minute late they pull you into an office and make you sign a paper pledging that you will not call in for a valid reason more than once a month, and arrive late at all for a 12 month span, if not met it will escalte another level eventually resulting in being fired.

They say they value you, but to me my first 3 years felt like i was just another number and i could be replaced easily.

Micro management another big problem and its only on department manager thats the problem, and i had the misfortune of starting under them. My first 3 months i struggled to adjust to my shift time and that manager stuck thier neck out for me and kept me there while i got used to the schedule, i was thankful at first but after that they acted like i owed them everything and had to serve them. My other problem with this manaher is that they cant say NO unless they are revoking time off, if management comes to them with an unrealistic order they will say yes and then get upset with thier subordinates when they dont complete it in time. And if you spoke up you got screamed at.

The only reason i am still there is because some of the management structure changed so its getting better but my resentment and bitterness will never go away.

If you want to become a functioning alcoholic with no time or energy for thier family then this is the place for you.

If not RUN, it may seem good but i have seen guys who get paid more than me turn sour in thier first 3 months here.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The constant expectation for more production for other people in management so they get thier bonus

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
A complete lie, there is a huge rumour mill, and most of the management is toxic and careless

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Unrealistic, you get given a schdule that requires you to break your back and give every ounce of your soul for just enough cash to pay bills

I enjoyed working for this company. In my first years employed with this company I was sent to various trade shows, professional development courses etc.. Hard work was acknowledged and rewarded, once I was even given an iPad. Equipment/tools were always industry leading. 

Then some people moved up the ladder that didn't necessarily have any basis being there. Their egos were (over) inflated and the whole atmosphere of the workplace went down hill. Any and all communication had to be routed through a single person, creating a bottleneck in the workflow and causing certain communication being lost in translation. The phrase "Fake it Till You Make It" was taken literally.. but props to them, management ate it up and continues to. It is unfortunate to say that management was unable to see past their buddy's B.S., who they promoted, and re-adjust. There was no longer any credit given where due, because anything 'good' would be the persons idea that all the communication had to go through. But of course, anything bad would never be (rightfully or not). 

This person did not like being shown their errors or told when they were wrong. I guess it is better to let your coworkers proceed telling falisies than to correct them. It is to my understanding that because I was not aware of this I was fired. I was given no explanation, by HR nor my supervisor, as to the reasoning of my termination. I can only assume it was due to a certain individuals disapprobation towards me.

All in all, I would recommend this as a place of employment. But only if you are able to get along with EVERYONE. If you revolt in the least in any way (no matter the reasoning, because it WILL be spun), you will be seen as a bad seed and removed. This is a place for sheep. Good luck!

I typically get to work and everyone is greeting each other in a friendly manner!!! I get on the floor and I feel like I'm home!!! Everyone works together so well to accomplish day-to-day tasks! We overcome challenges and obstacles that arise everyday but we do it together as a team! Some days aren't easy and I wish I was at home with my dog! But other days I'm excited to see what the day has to throw at us because I know the people that I work with will get it done together as a team!!! The overtime is nice! Management is really friendly and understanding!! I've learned so many skills at pre-con! Everyday we overcome a challenge,I learned something. I feel like there's so much opportunity to grow in this company. The hardest part of my job is knowing that when I have the crane remote people's lives are in my hands just like driving!! It can be stressful!!! I think the most enjoyable part of my job is getting to know different cultures and learning different ways and views of how people solve problems differently!! At the end of the day the goal is for everyone to go home safely!!! 

I have been a production worker for the course of a year and seen over 70+ people resign.

The company culture is miserable, and very condensing. The employees on the other hand are fun and make the most out of work but are second class to management.

There is a great divide between office staff and production workers. Office staff have laidback jobs and get treated like royalty. Their mistakes get deflected on your team.  On the other hand, when you are a production worker / coordinator you are easily replaced. As a production worker, multiple coordinators make mistakes and take the easy way out on blaming production workers.
 
The current manager is temperamental and  unknowledgeable of concrete and turns a blind issues on staff  issues.
 
HR ignores employee requests and are untrained to do their jobs.  You are forced to pay for benefits out of your pocket, the company doesn't notify you this. 

The company doesn't have the best safety record, and forces you to read children's books about motivation and work habits.

Dont work here as a production worker, you will be harassed for being one minute late, senior staff watch you 24/7 on video cameras, and it is a fake family environment.  All the best employees left shortly after being hired.  Look out for this place. 



Got hired part time while in school. Starting pay is kinda low in my opinion but there is lots to learn so that's somewhat understandable. There are significant raises after one year.

Weekly safety meetings and suggestion box 

Free lunch on Friday or Thursday of a long weekend.

Flexible with your schedule. If you're upfront and honest about appointments and that kind of stuff they are willing to work with you.

Lots of hours. Typical day is usually ten hours or less depending what department you are in. I was in vaults. 

They are doing alot of upgrading to their shop so it seems like less likely chance for people to get laid off. Which I was at the start of December, but business is business so I get it. 

Overall the people here were great, I had an awesome experience here my team leader was a beauty and the HR rep is super professional. They offer training courses periodically throughout the year, mostly in house. Would go back if I didn't get a job for what I went to school for.

No Management team is perfect, but this team is constantly working on improvements!! It can be difficult for frontline workers to see those efforts, but the management team does care about providing a safe, fun, inclusive atmosphere for its people. It can be busy and stressful at times, but thats typical of factory life, and especially typical of a busy/growing progressive company. If you are looking for a challenge! Want to learn! Are ready to work, Precon is the place for you!! If you are lazy, stubborn, not a team player, and periodically prefers to stay home and play video games instead of going to work, well, give your head a shake first off, but look elsewhere, because you won’t fit it at Precon! I worked for a full year as a co-op student at Precon. It was hard work but one of the BEST experiences I had in university. I learned so much practical experience I have since been able to apply to my current career upon graduating. 

I started out working in the shop learning the day to day tasks of employees. Once I gained enough knowledge and understanding of concrete production I was assigned a mentor and a concrete department of about 20 employees to manage. I had a great support structure to rely on! There was a steep learning curve however regular meetings with management and my mentor helped me succeed.

One thing I valued most was the trust and independence I was granted. I was given a great deal of responsibility which made me feel a valued member of the team. 

I enjoyed the position so much that I returned during summers and part time during the remainder of my time in university.

The plant is managed by unexperienced manager who obsesses over every detail, aiming to micromanage everyone. Yet, they often the bigger picture is missed. It's typical for managers and supervisors here to act in self-interest, avoid taking initiative, and pass blame onto others.
There's a pervasive sense of distrust within the company, with the primary objective being to produce products regardless of the associated costs. Equipment maintenance often takes a backseat during peak seasons, only for blame to be assigned later. The company promotes a disingenuous "family culture," which compromises the professional environment and oversteps personal boundaries. I have gained a lot of valuable technical experience at Precon, but it's not a place I'd want to work for a long duration. 

What people don't realize about the high turnover rate is that Precon hires anyone to fill the gaps. Some of these individuals have never worked labor jobs before, don't enjoy the work, and end up leaving, causing everyone else to suffer. People tend to gravitate toward the easier roles. Project planning is often disorganized, and unexpected overtime is a constant issue.

The company is unnecessarily strict about everything, including breaks. Good luck trying to take vacation time, especially in the summer—it’s nearly impossible. There are a lot of gossip and toxic people.    This creates bad vibes and makes it hard for anyone to feel comfortable or get anything done.

Its a good summer job for students but I wouldn't stick any longer if I had to. 

Overtime is compulsory if you refuse you will be layed off ( terminated without cause) once they can justify a work shortage.
Versatility is stressed bit negates division of labour which creates a situation where often one or two guys are work while the rest are trying to figure out what to do as well as missing tool issues, quality issues, abuse to specialized equipment and dangerous working conditions with poor communications in particular between English speaking and African speaking.
This work atmosphere leads to failures that then are attributed to the immediate lead hand failing rather than the management technique over all.
