Worked as a member of the technician team with Prism for a number of years. Huge turnover rate amongst employees in all departments. Very poorly managed corporation and getting worse as time goes on. You are essentially ostracized by upper management if you speak up for yourself or your co-workers. If you stand up for yourself you are told you will never be allowed to grow within the company or be entitled to another raise within the company as long as the manager who black listed you still works there. The hours are long and the days are overbooked with patients and you are expected to keep up with the patient load as well as any add ons that are seen fit to double/triple book. After working yourself to the bone day after day, management makes you feel as though you are taking food off their table when you ask for a raise. Merit increases are only given to their friends and favorites. Rewards and gift cards again are only give to their friends and favorites. They are very quick to put you down and criticize your work, however when they are put in your position to cover or even answer the phone they do not have the faintest idea what they are doing. You are expected to travel between both Brampton and Oakville with no mileage compensation or salary incentive, again if you don't you are put in the bad books. I can honestly say the doctors and the clinical staff I worked with are amazing. The doctors are some of the best that Ontario has to offer and at times their voices are not heard by management either. It is unfortunate that the mis-management team of this company has made it such a toxic place to be associated with because Prism has such potential for greatness, but they are failing their employees and patients. This job/company is definitely not for the weakhearted, you need to be able to stand up for yourself and be ok with being outcasted by management if you do. Apply with immense caution. 

Great people to work with, however the lack of pay is horrible. Management is horrid as working there for 2 years, 3-4 managers were introduced.  Management were never organized and put a lot of pressure on the workers without providing proper support. The company is being ran like a small mom and pop shop with always bringing up budget especially when it comes to pay or proper ‘hiring’. There is lack of inclusion as well, every occasion was celebrated in the company, but black history month was not, and sent an email to the workers a month later to apologize for the ‘lack of acknowledgement’ even though it’s a world wide celebration on every calendar.

They are more interested in filling the spots instead of listening to their workers and making the right proper calls. I would not recommend. 

The work culture is fun and interactive. Most of my co-workers are helpful and friendly. The company supports you with an advancement certification program. The management is very poor in recognizing your hard work and years of dedication towards the company. The management will only give you a penny to compensate for your dedication, hard work and loyalty.  They will postpone promises and give you excuses to prolong it. Other than that, I enjoyed working for many years until I realized they don't care about you.  

Only good thing about this place is your coworkers. Management is poor, huge turnover rate, literally minimum wage and super stressful environment. You will be overworked daily for just $16-18 an hour with no yearly raises. I am sure a company like prism is able to afford to pay their employees better but they refuse to give a raise no matter how long you have worked here. They would rather let you go than improve your salary.
They genuinely don’t care about you so you are better off working someone where else that will at-least pay you a livable wage. 

Prism is an amazing place to work. The people are the best part. The doctors are so kind and always willing to share their knowledge. The management is very positive and supportive and the staff are always willing to help each other out when you are in need. It is a very teamwork based workplace with a positive culture.

All of this made my experience at Prism amazing. I wish I never had to leave.

Providing training. Job Security , despite having no experience in this sector. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Changing managers too often. Every manager starts some changes in rules and routines. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Mostly friendly, sometimes competitive. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Busy as a bee! Endless work to do.

Enjoyed my time at PEI. Diverse work staff helped me to be open minded and respect different cultures. Learned a lot regarding the optometrist and ophthalmologists routine patient visits. Competitive salary and benefits. I regret leaving but family member got a promotion and we need to move to different province. PEI is not a perfect as it is run by people and people are not perfect, but overall my experience is 4-star.

Worst place to work. No real training offered. Management from director down are rude and disrepectful.  They have a revolving door  very high employee turnover. Instead of trying to train employees and offer support  they are constantly  hiring and firing. How many times a month and year are they hiring. .

Always double booking patients. Rushed to
Complete your work to meet their demands. One technician dealing with 82 patients a day. Some days there is no coverage for your lunch. You had to work through your lunch time. 

- Understaffed and overworked
- Management, only involve themselves when trouble relates to them
- Favoritism and lack of communication between office locations (even among management themselves)
- Nothing enjoyable
- Always expect more then what staffs can handle
