I am the Franchise owner for Barrie & Collingwood at Qualicare. My enthusiasm in my star ratings may be a bit of "me agreeing with myself". What I specifically offer in this review is this:

1.) Qualicare seeks to improve the quality of life for everyone
2.) Healthcare and homecare in Ontario has a significant number of challenges. One of those challenges is the pervasive underpayment of healthcare workers.
3.) The living wage in Simcoe is $18.01. We do not pay anyone less than that.
4.) Mental health follows from the health of our bodies and how we look after them. Among other things the living wage impacts our ability to look after our bodies. I am committed to making sure that beyond my concerns for the living wage we keep in mind the health of our team and the things necessary to maintain that. Family, sleep, exercise,  diet, community, purpose, the air we breath and so much more are all part of this and I work to make sure that any part I play in these things works towards a healthier community both inside our organization and outside.

A typical day as a Qualicare Care Giver involves following the routine care needs of each individual  you support.  This  may be as simple as looking after meal preparation, or something more delicate such as assisting with ambulation, hygiene care, or other supports surrounding activities of daily living 
Qualicare does a great job of matching the skills of their Care Givers to the needs of the people they support. This ensures that the needs of the individual are met by the best Care Giver for the job.
One challenge is I faced personally was the loss of someone I was supporting.  Even though the individual (92F) was elderly and had an advanced case of dementia, it was hard to see her go.
The most rewarding part of this job is seeing the positive impact Care Givers have in the lives of the supported individuals.  Whether it's assisting with a bathing routine, or simply going for a walk around the block, giving someone a reason to smile makes all the difference those in your care.

Good relationship with the company's management, and co workers,and always given the chance for mprovement to practise skills , very accomodating and ready to assist in a day to day needs of an employee to enhance in providing care to assigned clients.
Co-Workers, I do find my co- workers friendly and considerate as they spend time to pointed out and make sure to inform as to what the clients foremost priority need to look after .
The hardest part , is going to the workplace especially if it takes transportation and walking distant from the station to station ,coming home late at night and to be in the workplace on  time.
The most enjoyable part is when you feel you are most welcome and that at the end of the shifts you have given your client the most needed cared and that you feel you are part of the family not just as a worker.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Very good company to start your career. Provide training in work place, support and promptly answer your request. Management very knowledgeable and kind.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
No guarantee for working hours. It is a home care company, so work load depend on request.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very friendly and supportive. Tarragon you as professional and human being. Respect cultural background.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Review care plan before visit client, answer question if any, then visit client. Report after visit.

QUALICARE has got to be one of the most frustrating companies to communicate with. They do not follow the schedule they have put in place and agreed upon with their client. Client goes without help for days when their PSWs are sick. Clients are expected to rearrange their day on short notice of cancelation or changes. Their PSWs sit on their phone and complain their social lives rather than doing the work theyes are sent to do. When you make several complaints they drop their clients without any resolution to any issues, without telling you, giving you a notice or any explanation. DO YOUR RESEARCH AND DO NOT USE QUALICARE HOME CARE!!

This was a brand new company to the Simcoe area and its schedules were located in London.  Continuing problem occurred in scheduling making visits run late.  Lots of different messages sometime hard to figure out what to do.  Often the supervisors would not take responsibility for the request of staff.  All managers were friendly and polite but it always had to be their way or shifts were cut from you following weeks.Was not able to make friends or interact with other 80 something staff.

Dedicated professional with over 10 years of experience providing top quality guest experience to clients and customers.  Demonstrated commitment to adding value to my employers as well as making meaningful contributions to various work environments.  Strong communication and interpersonal skills.  Efficient and empathetic, with a background encompassing customer service, finance, and banking.  Fluent in English.  Strong computer skills.  Available to start immediately.

the owners are the greatest they really care about their employees and their clients

what is the issue with stress, you have to be accepting of unexpected stuff

great enjoyable not hard to enjoy your job

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
very happy enjoyable to be working for this company

Doing weekend shifts are not usually the easiest, being that I am very productive during the week. A lot has being learned since working as a PSW because I get to express all that I've being taught. I do in-home care and the hardest part of the job is baring responsible for your client all alone, knowing that everything is in your hands. The most enjoyable part of the job is interacting with the client, assisting with ADL's and just making their day better.

What a great place to work!  The Director of Care is no picnic, but I had little to do with her on a day-to-day basis as she had no knowledge or experience in my job. But the General Services Manager, CFO, and team of staff were the best I have ever worked with!  Just an all around great group of people and a very rewarding, enjoyable place to work. You wont regret working at Jubilee Lodge Nursing Home!
