Rath Eastlink Community Centre

The Rath Eastlink Community Centre is a example of toxically paranoid workplace ran by a boys club of men, where the founding ideas of public service to Truro and the county of Colchester. The middle management maintains a toxically positive workplace with ideas for improvement treated as a threat to their ego and position. There is one thing every employee learns at the RECC is that you are expendable. You must sit and attend the door, but also mop, clean and sanitize equipment, but also engage with guests but if you aren't at the desk you are criticized. The only option for success is to be your bosses best friend, passion for public service will get you no where here as management is only interested in serving themselves.

I have worked in several different public service positions but I have never experienced a mess worse than this organization.

Each department has its own internal culture, with a lot of positive in each (based on the conversations I've had). 
Management can be a bit disconnected by times, but not unfriendly. 
It's a community centre, and the employees who have lost sight of that seem to be the least satisfied. Since we're working with the public, there can be times when you'll get unrealistic expectations that pull you down, but fortunately, those are the exceptions. The rule is that we have many awesome members, and lots of bright smiles. 
Even when I come in (part-time) after a hard day of work, thinking I would rather go home and veg, I usually leave feeling uplifted and smiling.

Working at the Rath Easlink Community Centre was a great place for any teen to start work. What I enjoyed about the Civic Centre was my Aquatics manager, she was very kind to me and was easy to get along with, along with other staff members. The hardest part of my job was to help improve other instructors by giving honest feedback. 
My typical day at work would often start early in the morning by going through the morning checklists making sure both pools chemicals are in balance, placeing out aquatic equipment on schedule. Once opened I would greet all patrons and welcome them to the facility, maintain a safe envoirment for everyone on the pool deck throughout my shift.

The RECC was a great place to work with lots of great co-workers and employers. The hardest part of the job was always knowing that at any time you may have to deal with a major problem. With that being said it was much better to deal with mentally with the other great people at the pool supporting and helping you with anything you need. The most enjoyable part was having a free gym and pool membership while working at the RECC.

Extremely low paying, place is a mess from the top down: from directors who are overpaid and do little to no work and take most to all of the credit for the work the people under them are doing. If it isn’t about an event or hockey they don’t care about a thing. Everything they spend money on is a slap in the face to those who aren’t even close to being paid a liveable wage to survive. What a joke.

I work here for a little over 6 months, workload kept going up with no recognition and no increase in wages. Did the work of 3 people no help, no parts, no supplies. Management are always patting themselves on the back after everyone has done the work. And if you make a suggestion on making things you will be get reprimanded for not minding your own business

From the pretty boy/playboy GM, down to the HR Witch who thinks she is god. This place is dysfunctional and deplorable, department heads make promises they never keep and wonder why staff don't stay. Its all about costs and employee and public safety be damned. Staff expected to work for minimum wage while rec centres around them make union wage.

A great work place environment, very positive. Management is more than willing to work around any schedule you may have. The most enjoyable part of my job is the positive interactions I have with both customers and fellow employees. I feel very comfortable here and I enjoy coming to work every single day.

This place is a disaster, no budget for supplies, spare parts, or management that is in touch with what is going on in the facility. Many times they have put public safety at risk in the name of cash flow 

The management discriminates against the handicapped and the mentally disabled. A friend worked here after being with the Colchster Communite workshop and because he wasn't able to do everything in his shift they cut back his hours
