Productive and fun workplace.A typical day is going through work orders, reviewing them, calling contractors and scheduling repairs and inspections. Busy times are during the last and first weeks of the month. Tenants can sometimes be annoying but you should know how not to take them personally when they're furious. When you are working in this field, you get fulfilled and satisfied when you're able to help and solve the tenant's issues. However, it sometimes becomes frustrating when contractors are not able to do their jobs well. Sometimes, you are also thankful that some of the tenants are easy to talk to and are appreciative of what you do for them. Property management is a small industry and when management changes, there are always positives and negatives to them. People will always compare the past and the current managements and they will always find something good about the current one when you're providing good service and will always find something bad about the current one when there are so many problems existing. Experience in this field is always a plus for you go back to what you've experienced before in some scenarios when you're trying to come up with a decision in a particular situation.

A typical work day was busy with high traffic of prospects, residents and trade personnel coming through our doors. Everyday was a learning experience and a truly enjoyable experience.

The resident managers were approachable, enthusiastic, caring individuals who relished input on how to approve day to day operations. Then, that management team left and the assistant resident managers took over. 

From there what was once a wonderful work environment turned on a dime. Working alongside people that were not team players who did not want input from their staff and proceeded to lie to the district manager was difficult to deal with. 

Eventually the final straw was drawn when the RM of our building would not respect laws surrounding the rights of disabled personnel needing transportation accommodations. This was an illegal move. I was no longer respected and I felt my safety and well-being was threatened. 

It was a relief to leave, but I will say I believe the RM couple who took over the seniority position ruined my career as a leasing agent.

We start the day with our daily cleaning routine, cleaning the lobby, vacuuming, glass cleaning, taking care of the pool and other common areas, taking care of garbage, composte and recycling. After lunch, we look after the rest of the building and outdoors, we take care of any work order requests and insure we keep our standards up.

We've learned to properly investigate issues in order to solve them as promptly and efficiently as possible. 

A great team is a result of great management. We are thankful for the opportunity we were given and the trust instilled upon us .

We have a diverse community living here, and we are glad to add to it by making each day count.

The hardest part is to sometimes be left at the mercy of failing building mechanics and lack of tools to remedy dire situations. That said, the most enjoyable part of the job is to find solutions to these situations and make the best with what we have.

In short, one word is enough to describe my feelings about Realstar: Grateful.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The majority of the tenants. They were the best part of any day. They became friends after a while. And most of the dog visits were fun. Living where I worked saved some money. But it’s hard to always be at work. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Being on call.  You could never just have privacy. Couldn’t leave the apartment if we had a few drinks because that reflected poorly on the company. Everyone always new my personal business. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very poor.  They have no compassion for employees that are having issues with coworkers. They either try to transfer you or they terminate you. If you get terminated for any reason you have 7 days to vacate your apartment, find a new place and a new job. That is impossible. I’m currently homeless and penniless and jobless. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
An hour of daily cleaning. A few hours of office work. Sometimes there was a time crunch to get empty units painted and cleaned.

I’ve been working here as a Leasing Agent for a little while now and it’s been a solid experience. Realstar gave me the training I needed in sales, and honestly, once you get the hang of it, it’s pretty straightforward — especially because the property basically sells itself. It’s well-kept, in a great location, and people are usually impressed when they come for a tour.

The team is helpful and I’ve been able to learn a lot, especially when it comes to dealing with different types of people and managing leads. Some days can be busy or repetitive, but that’s kind of expected in this line of work.

If you’re looking to get into leasing or just want to build up your sales experience, this is a good place to start.

I worked everyday 24hrs a day. On an everyday basis I was responsible for ensuring that all current tenants at my apartment building were living in a safe, clean and comfortable environment. My day would start with cleaning the entire building, ie. sweeing and mopping all stairwells, entryays, and hallways, washing all windows, answering any questions and concerns from current and prospective tennants. Collect rent, clean empty units top to bottom, cooridinate and arrange all contractors when required (plumbers, painters, ect.)
I loved working there, even though the work was non-stop. I enjoyed interacting with my tennants and was happy to do so. I am a very approachable person and never once recieved a complaint from management, tennants, contractors, and/or head office.
I love working with people and have never had a problem putting in long hours and hard work to get a job done.

Realstar has been a great company to work for, given, as with any job, if you have great upper management that sees your potential and utilizes that and let’s you grow and supports you, you can go a long way.  We’ve been with the company for 5 years, worked hard to get to where we are at now.  Like with any job/career things aren’t handed on a silver platter you have to work hard and prove you have what it takes to handle the next level to move up.  We have been treated well, taken care of and we love what we do and it shows, our residents see it and our properties shine because of it.  We treat our staff with respect and give them every opportunity to succeed at our training level…it’s a matter of whether they want it bad enough and put in the effort. Five years ago we sold everything, moved several provinces away and never regretted it.   We could not ask for a better company to work for.  

I have worked with Realstar for almost four years at the head office. The owners and management of the company are fantastic. They care about their workers and provide a very professional and easy environment to work in. I personally found growth opportunities very easy to come by at Realstar, you simply have to ask for growth and they will do their best to assist you in any way possible (mind you, not all roles have this movement). The office at Realstar is full of very friendly and down to earth people - which in my experience is very rare to find. In addition to this, they appreciate and support work life balance. I highly recommend Realstar.

•	Assisted in maintaining property grounds and over 430 units including both high-rise and townhouse complexes

•	Installed and repaired varieties of kitchen and bathroom fixtures, including dishwasher hookup, toilet removal and installation as well minor appliance repair
