I enjoyed working with certain people overall. 

Management wasn’t the best, they sometimes threw things at you and expected you to swim fast without drowning. They ask for your feedback and dismisses it when it’s not what they wanted to hear. If you only mention you’re going to look for another job because of how they treated you, they throw in your face that you “should be lucky you have a job here.” They overwork you and the schedule system was never stable. My biggest pet peeves: there were NO confidentiality whatsoever! If management didn’t like you, they would do everything in their power to push you out! The Front office manager would speak to you like you were less than a penny. She would throw tantrums in front of you and if she’s upset, everyone has to know and feel that energy. 

They do have a few good benefits though, dry cleaning, $3 meal plan, $250 clothing reimbursement, and  50% off restaurant food. 

Having worked in hotels previous years I know a bit about housekeeping. This hotel is beautiful and ALL the staff is super friendly and wonderful. 

As for the Housekeeping department I feel it needs a lot of improvement....in regards to doing our job properly.. more than half the time we DO NOT have linen stocked daily in our storage rooms to carry on and finish our rooms. 
As we always have to go back later to put missing sheets or towels what we request from laundry and it wastes so much time. more work for us and more work for the laundry people in the end. its EXTREMLY FRUSTURATING FOR EVERYONE!!!!!
I feel as they could improve on this if they prioritize certain tasks and are better organized when it comes to the laundry department. 
When they know we are full 100% or even 90% mark they (supervisors/management) do nothing extra if laundry department is behind to catch up to prepare us for next day. 




I started my hotel career at the Renaissance, at one point I left to pursue growth at another hotel and after a short while came back. What I realized very quickly is that while no place is perfect, Renaissance really has an excellent culture. They have an excellent management team that is invested in the staff and in the guest experience, the hotel is maintained well, the team is high caliber and works well to deliver great service. The team enjoys being here, and you can tell that they have fun working here, and working together. Nothing is ever to serious, the overall morale is high even when things are stressful. Anytime I have needed something, I have been able to get it, and the leaders are very much open to feedback.

Nothing stressful, work is work, and it’s responsibility, and sometimes responsibilities can stress people if they don’t like it.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Friendly environment by all management and employees.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
We work in hospitality, so everyday is different, and we interact with guests all the time.

Don't let a couple haters determine what you think of this place. Not everyone who has worked here, has fit into this place. It is awesome, it is fun, hard work, a bit crazy sometimes. Sometimes there can be drama, like any place but in my experience you just need to talk to the managers. They genuinely want this place to be great. Anytime I have brought something up, changes have been made.  No place is a 10/10 all the time, I look for a place that genuinely wants to make it a great place to work. This place does. 

Although there is a high turnover rate the serving team that halo bistro has put together is nice. Team work can up and down but my overall experience with my team was awesome! Management on the other hand is questionable. Appropriately staffing for events is a no go, when you bring issues to management it’s like talking to a wall, the supervisors are undertrained, the director of food and beverage will berate and belittle you if he has any issue with you. 

Women were told to stop carrying heavier objects that the guys would do it, guys told not to work on buffets because it’s a woman’s job. Got fired for car breaking down and being late twice..both Times were told about before shift, third time had to bring dog to vet and went to work got let go with no warning or written notice , nothing! I don’t recommend this place from employee view but most of the staff was great to work with otherwise

well every day I have to prepared  my self to have a contact with to many people, specially tourist, this hotel is located in the heart of Toronto,
and is very busy with Blue Jays games, the Hotel is attached to the Roger Center.
So every day I learned to many different thing from people from all over the world.
Manager very nice and polite.

Hardest part is the work, I have to clean 16 rooms a day.
Good benefit packages.

There are a few bad reviews- and you can tell they are from people who were not happy. This is a great place to work- the environment is friendly, supportive and the people work to create an exceptional experience for guests. It is very busy and can sometimes be stressful, but the leadership is always open to feedback and hears what you have to say. The last year has been bumpy- but the most recent 6 months have been great. The GM is amazing, and I love working here. 

Everyday is a different day. I get to meet different and unique personalities which enables me to learn how to adapt in different situations. 

Coworkers are always respectful and helpful towards one another. 

Hardest part of the job is when there are scheduled events upcoming on the day; work involving preparations before the events and such.
