If you asked me years ago when I first started, about working for this company, I would recommend it to anyone with a glowing review. I can’t say the same now about this organization nowadays 

While pay and benefits are great as a manager, the work life balance is terrible. 
If you have a supportive District manager, it can be flexible but if you don’t, they constantly micromanage you.

Company gives zero consideration for your well being
Be expected to work 50+ hours, sometimes open to close to cover sick calls because the company is constantly scaling back your labor hours and you don’t have enough staff. When you ask your district manager for help, they throw back at you telling you have to Deal with it and have to make sacrifices of your personal life for the sake of the business. They expected managers during COVID to cover off almost their whole teams who were sick,sometimes it was just the manager running the business on their own just to keep the doors open to make money, with little to no help from executives.

Executives will make empty promises to your face and mislead you about your growth and development. They will move you around stores, fixing others mistakes and messes, and once you have done that, they will literally find any way to terminate you. 

Advancement depends on who you know in the company not what you know 
Don’t be surprised that if they really like you as a store manager, they will do anything to keep you at store level and prevent you from growing. Also Don’t be surprised if you don’t get a proper review or development plan because they constantly move around District managers.

Performance managing your hourly staff will be a challenge because they are unionized and they know they can get away with anything. HR is no help either. 
Not sure how or why their HR department  keeps Winning awards each year, but they either take forever to get your question answered or are no help at all, while the Heads of HR are too busy promoting themselves on Social Media to care.
They make a ton of mistakes and have heard they have terminated people without any proper documentation or reasons. 

Mgmt and employees are expected to be “security” in their stores as the company is too cheap to care about the rise in shoplifters and theft and doesn’t find it effective to hire security guards. They do have a shoplifter policy but if your inventory results comes back not in their favour, you won’t hear the end of it.

I had 2 good managers in my time at Rexall of the 6 that I went through... The other managers were very verbally abusive, rude, self centered, and obnoxious. I like working, and I like to push my limits to create new goals for myself and the team I supervise. However when there is a manager that constantly bullies you, belittles you, tells you things that you know for a fact are wrong. You lose morale and work ethic, I would not recommend this company to anyone, as a supervisor / keyholder you are expected to do SO much more work with insanely unrealistic expectations AND you still make as much as a cashier with the exception of having $1 added to the first 4 hours of your supervisor shift and even then, if your manager hates you they won't even give you the shifts as a supervisor and will instead force you to be the cashier or doing something else so you don't get that extra little bit. I've had 2 good managers, with realistic expectations and a very reinforcing work ethic who helped keep morale high through the day. The rest I've worked with / for have been rude, abusive verbally, and negative. Called HR 4 times during my time with this company and never once have they done anything to help me. They also refuse to pay overtime and expect you to do things that go past the hours of your shift, and if you don't get them done be prepared to stand in hot water with your manager for a long time. Would not recommend Rexall to anyone, co workers may be nice, and sometimes the customers. But I've had people urinate and defecate on the floors as well as being forced to approach clearly dangerous thieves at management request. They have no regard for your safety or your personal life and if the manager doesn't like you, be prepared to lose all of your shifts and be forced to find another job. Worked here for 3 years and never wished for time in my life back so badly. 

PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF THE STRESS AND ANXIETY AND WORK FOR ANOTHER RETAIL / PHARMACY. I LEAVE THIS REVIEW HERE WITH 100% HONESTY OF THE WORK ENVIRONMENT AS WELL AS THE ABUSE CONSTANTLY GIVEN BY HR / HEAD OFFICE / MANAGEMENT.

Great software easy to operate. Terrible manager. She would change the part time staffs schedule so many times that part time staff would often miss their shifts and/or come in at the wrong time. Since the restructuring and massive layoffs the staff that remained are very afraid of losing their jobs. Instead of assisting their part time new team members so the team can work well together they are mean and bully the new staff.  The system for blister packs makes no sense and is a huge waste of time! The new manager showed a huge amount of favoritism towards senior staff at the expense of new staff. This was also the worst costumer service I have ever seen.  The pharmacy manager laughed and belittled customers. She made a man feel so uncomfortable in front of me once that he told me he will be filing a complaint immediately.  The senior pharmacy tech was also reude and condescending to customers. She had several complaints filed against her and the manager said that she sees her as professional and protected her while throwing a newer team member under the bus which made her loose her job. The pay for such a busy environment is terrible. Paying someone minimum wage at such a serious job is ridiculous.  I'm sure not all Rexalls are like this one but judging by the kind of managers this company employs and puts in charge of a pharmacy I do not believe this chain will survive much longer.  Another pro was the front store manager. Amazing person who went out of his way to help out all the new team members even though he knew nothing about pharmacy. Work in this place at your own risk and keep in mind that there is no one there to help you and the pharmacy manager will lie, cheat and steal and blame it on the new staff.

I will start with the good first. I learned a lot, especially from the first pharmacy manager I worked with because he actually cared about the patients and the pharmacy... there were 3 total within a year. It was a good clinical/customer service/retail experience to add to my resume.

That's about all the good now the bad. This is not a job that you can leave at work. I was eating and sleeping this job. I had nightmares that I was filling endless prescriptions because the stress was so high. There usually wasn't enough staff to handle the high volume of patients so I expected rudeness from co-workers and others on a daily basis. When the pandemic hit, it took several months to install protective barriers and provide PPE so I could have had the virus ten times over by the time we were finally protected from the public. I wanted to officially advance to a higher position with higher pay but there was barely any time for training so that didn't happen before I quit. Speaking of which, the pay was atrocious; it's minimum wage and expect to put in at least a year or have another raging pandemic before that number goes up at all, and that's if they even 'have the money' (aka are willing) to pay more. Unless you are a tech you will make nowhere near a living wage by yourself and certainly not anything to save for a future. My feet were in constant pain and I still have damage years later that I'm trying to get rid of one at a time. Most people who do this job do the bare minimum so there will probably only be 2 or 3 people actually working hard, which makes the load all the more stressful, so unless you are incapable of feelings get ready for a world of stress. That's about it. I got a taste of pharmacy and will never return again.

As a staff/pharmacist pharmacy manager you're expected for many stores to work 12 hours straight with no designated lunch break. Minimum technician staffing, and escalating targets and expectations. Poor leadership and executives management, most of whom never set foot inside a dispensary ever. No compensation for any extra time you spend (They don't pay overtime), even when the work conditions and the poor staffing necessitates additional hours. They would do anything to steal your hard earned bonus and as someone who has been in approved medical leave I have yet to receive a single medical leave payments that I was entitled to as a full-time employee with benefits. They are extremely good at playing games with their benefits adjudicator Acclaim in order to impede and prevent payments. 

You'll be pushed hard to do medication review, and I mean really hard. To the point where you'd be expected to almost create them out of thin air. Most of the medication reviews done in Rexall fall below ODP/pharmacare standards, and as a company they show little interest in making sure that they do. In fact, with the minimal staffing provided it is almost certain that most MR fall below accepted standards as it would be impossible for the pharmacist to find sufficient time with the multitude of other tasks and all the programs they keep inventing.

In short, don't ever work for this poorly managed company unless you're really desperate and have no other choice. If you're not that desperate, stay away and find a worthy employer who'd appreciate your effort, respect your time and treat you as professional with dignity.

Working for Rexall to be honest was a very bad experience. There are many company's in Retail that would be very much better to work for and that treat employees with respect and dignity. How do I sum up this experience? First of all, Management there doesn't know how to properly train new employees. From what I saw and observed managers there are getting away with a lot and the district leaders don't have a clue. I managed to learn a lot of new/ different things in retail but the workplace culture made it difficult to stay focused at times. It was a very negative workplace culture, the company lacks core values, there is a lot of gossiping all day, I mean all day behind other employees backs. Also, managers should be on the floor speaking to there customers and managing their staff instead they are in their office and taking an hour & half for lunch. There wasn't anything that hard about the job, it was just management doesn't know how to train properly. The regular staff/ employees though were very helpful and offered assistance whenever possible. There are few employees that could instruct and train others nicely. I guess what I found enjoyable about the job was being able to spend eight hours of my day with some good staff. There is a lot of competition out there, I think people should research companies better before applying to jobs. That way they make the best possible decision for themself.

I worked for Rexall Pharma Plus for 2 years and I enjoyed working for the Management of the store at that time. The training was easy to follow and all inquiries were answered in the most efficient manner.
My co-workers were easy going which made for a great team environment. They assisted with all aspects of the training and were there to answer any questions I may have had which made it an enjoyable experience.
Management explained all areas of the training so as it was easy to follow directions. It made the shift go by that much more easier and they were available for any inquiries by staff or customers. They encouraged you to develop in all areas of the store, not just your position but others as well. The work was easy and there was always a variety of tasks so you were never bored. All tasks were easy and needed little to no supervision. 
The most enjoyable part of the job was the customers and being able to assist them and chat with them on a daily basis about their day and to inform them of the specials and discounts that they were entitled to.
The worst part of the job was that there was never enough hours to give to all employees. It made it difficult when the company decided to cut back on the hours and I had to decide to find employment elsewhere. With the cutback on hours, it made the work on management more stressful as they were left to do the work that, if given the hours, an employee could have done, so as the management could attend to their responsibilites.
I miss working for Rexall Pharma Plus and regret leaving the position for a full-time position that I do not enjoy at all!

The people and management are amazing and the biggest reason I love this place. 

The work was simple but fast paced, there was always something to do and something to fix which kept me busy. Customer service was a big part in the work, other than that we'd keep the store clean and manageable. Sometimes there would be a 'Plano-gram' which meant completely re-merchandising specific sections of shelving.

I'd say I learned better time management, patience, and even how to handle important situations better than I'd previously known. I was hired to be trained in the Post Office, it was the first time anyone trained me for a position better than general sales person just because they wanted to. I felt important and necessary, that they wanted me to be better and so I gave them better. 

Co-workers, as I mentioned, have been spectacular. There are always bumps in the road but this store has done well enough that I hardly even remember anything bumpy. Management is the same way, I respect them and in several cases really care about them.

The hardest part of the job is the monotony, I like to learn new things so I keep pushing to know. Sure, no two days are exactly the same with customer service but you can generally guess as to what's going to happen.

The most enjoyable part of the job is the people. My co-workers and many of the customers have been nothing but incredible. People get along and work together at Rexall and I appreciate the amount of support and care everyone puts into it.

You will not be valued. You will be treated horribly. You will not go home happy 95% of days you work. 

I absolutely love the current manager and feel so bad for her cause of the fact that the higher up management (head office/district managers...) do not care. They refuse to listen or allow they thing we need changed to be changed and just tell us to “figure it out”. Constantly understaffed and the majority of the staff we have causes more problem than they help with and there is nothing we can do despite the constant absences and lack of any sort of common sense our hands are tied. Rexall doesn’t care about its employees whatsoever and will 100% treat you as poorly as you can take before quitting. The salary is trash. (Keyholder s make about a 2 dollars more than just regular cashier and that is only for 4 hours of the work day even if you work 10 hours a day just to be sure headoffice doesn’t come in and stomp on you for not having everything done the way they want). The new program that has been introduced as ALL they care about and want a 100% participation even tho customers don’t care whatsoever about it and it falls on our shoulders as to “why is this going so badly” despite there being nothing we can do about it. 

If you’re lucky enough to get a decent coworker or 2 you’re in a lucky spot but that’s about as pleasant as it gets and they still might move them around to other stores so it really doesn’t matter. 

Recall cares about 1) their customer 2) their products/property and 3) their employees and there is a reason they put the employees at the bottom of that list.

Greeting customers while offering super customer service attention, taking, assembling and presenting
food orders, requesting and receiving payment, operating the cash register (Constant movement,
frequent bending and stooping)
- Cleaning in accordance to our company’s sanitary standards including but not limited to: sweeping and
mopping floors, cleaning walls, tables, counters, kitchen and service equipment. Cleaning the customer
service area, removing trash, cleaning restrooms and checking the parking lot. (Frequent bending and
stooping) (Trash removal weight can be up to 25lbs.)
- Assisting new crew members in learning their new job skills
- Cooking and preparing food for sale- (Standing and constant moving)
- Deliveries; off-loading trucks, storage and movement of raw product to the work area (May lift up to
50lbs. with the assistance of a hand truck) (Frequent bending and stooping)
- Checking stock of products and insuring proper stock levels and rotation. (Moving products from
refrigerated areas or stockroom may lift up to 36lbs, product can be separated by units which will reduce
weight, frequent bending and stooping, may use a ladder)
- Checking equipment to ensure that it is in proper working order, letting the management team know if
there might be a problem
- Backing up other crew members in their jobs, assist in any area to ensure that the food is being prepared,
packaged and delivered to customer in a timely mannerCrew members should be proficient in more than one area of responsibility and may not always work the same
job function or schedule each day.
