The company's lack of organization, poor communication, and unsupportive management made it extremely difficult for anyone to excel in their role. The work environment was unprofessional (to put it mildly) mainly from the toxic upper management, (such as the Finance Director) who practiced favouritism to those whom they liked and were extremely rude and condescending to those whom they were not fond of. They would habitually put down their employees with disparaging comments in either on one-on-one team meetings, and/or group meetings in front of your Co-Workers. Employees would work their butts off only to feel undervalued and more overworked with little to no opportunities of growth or development. Furthermore, compensations such raises are scarce and bonuses are non-existent! The company's priorities seemed to shift constantly, and goals were unclear. Jobs in the Finance/Accounting Dept. are quickly being taken away from Canada and are being outsourced to Colombia, which ultimately led to frustration and burnout among colleagues, and mass exodus of good employees from the company were soon followed. I would not recommend Rhenus to others due to its toxic work environment and unfulfilling job experience. 

I joined Rhenus after leaving a stable and supportive role, motivated by what I saw as a promising challenge. During the interview process, the CEO shared a compelling vision, which made me believe I could contribute meaningfully and help modernize the customs operations.

Unfortunately, the reality on the ground was very different. The customs department is led by a long-serving director who resists change and lacks the leadership capacity to support a high-performing team. The working environment was tense, with outdated processes, poor communication, and a lack of structure or chain of command. Suggestions for improvement were often ignored, and the team suffered from high turnover as a result.

While I appreciated the chance to take on these challenges, I quickly realized that the department was not set up for success — and leadership was unwilling to address long-standing issues. It became clear that the role was not aligned with my values or professional standards, and unfortunately, I was let go.

Advice to Management:
If Rhenus truly wants to evolve and retain strong talent, it must address leadership issues in the customs department. A culture of accountability, modernization, and support is urgently needed.

Great job with a lot of learning opportunities for employees. I started at the company as trucking coordinator in Montreal and made my way up to Branch Manager in Vancouver. As coordinators are responsible for the operation of a file from A-Z, you learn the entire operational process and how to work autonomously as well as on team. Benefits are good and the company subsidizes CIFFA educational courses. Montreal & Vancouver offices have small but close teams and organize events such trivia nights and team lunches. The job is always interesting as every day will look different and present new challenges. Overall, really enjoy working here and would recommend to anyone.

My experience at Rhenus so far has been really refreshing. There is a great deal of focus on work-life balance and teamwork at the company. 
The managers are very friendly and make themselves available to all team members when needed.
The best part of all is that pets are allowed in the office, so we are always surrounded by furry friends and good energy. 

I felt like a slave working here. They do not respect you. Management is joke and older employees treat you like bugs.
Underpaid and they expect you to work overtime for free

Managers in operations team (Ocean-Air) are really nice to work with. There is no a standard training, basically you learn as you do it. But no worries they help.

Not Healthy Company and very bad work ethics and culture. Not very nice managers. Unprofessional and very self serving rules. Moreover, very rude and disrespecful.

Management was caring an cooperative. Always encouraged its employees to do their best in a good way. Never harassed its employees. Rate of pay was average.
