As a former employee of The Comfort Group HVAC in Nanaimo, Canada, I had a disappointing experience working for the company. Despite initial expectations, I encountered several issues during my tenure that affected my job satisfaction and overall perception of the company. In this review, I will outline the key problems I faced, including poor management, lack of career growth opportunities, and inadequate work-life balance.

1. Poor Management:
The Comfort Group HVAC in Nanaimo exhibited poor management practices that negatively impacted the work environment. There was a lack of clear communication, inconsistent decision-making, and a failure to address employee concerns effectively. This lack of strong leadership and guidance created a sense of frustration and confusion among the employees.

2. Limited Career Growth Opportunities:
During my time at The Comfort Group HVAC, I found that there were limited opportunities for career growth and advancement. The company did not prioritize employee development or provide adequate training programs to enhance skills and knowledge. This lack of investment in employee growth can lead to demotivation and hinder professional progress.

3. Inadequate Work-Life Balance:
Maintaining a healthy work-life balance was challenging at The Comfort Group HVAC. The company often required employees to work long hours, including weekends and holidays, without providing sufficient compensation or time off. This imbalance between work and personal life can lead to burnout and negatively impact overall job satisfaction.

4. Lack of Employee Recognition:
The Comfort Group HVAC in Nanaimo failed to recognize and appreciate the efforts and contributions of its employees. There was a lack of employee recognition programs, incentives, or rewards for exceptional performance. This absence of acknowledgment can diminish employee morale and motivation.

5. Uncompetitive Compensation and Benefits:
The compensation and benefits package offered by The Comfort Group HVAC was not competitive compared to industry standards. The salaries were below average, and the benefits package lacked comprehensive coverage. This disparity in compensation can lead to dissatisfaction and hinder employee retention.

Conclusion:
Based on my personal experience as an employee, I cannot recommend The Comfort Group HVAC in Nanaimo, Canada, as an ideal workplace. The poor management practices, limited career growth opportunities, inadequate work-life balance, lack of employee recognition, and uncompetitive compensation and benefits package all contribute to a disappointing work experience. I encourage potential employees to consider alternative companies that prioritize employee satisfaction, growth, and well-being.



I had high hopes when I started with this company. But that quickly changed.

Areas they need to improve:
- training (training done by videos - and with some branches operating independently by following their own rules - you never know what is applicable and what isn't)
- acquisitions (training, accesses to programs/accounts all need an overhaul), some departments like Accounting are so stretched thin because of looking after so many branches it is difficult to get timely responses to questions, which affects reporting, etc.); no clear org chart so you never know who is where or responsible for what
- procedures for various programs, promos, and tasks often not completed on time for admins, leaving admins to fumble their way thru until procedures are implemented by marketing, IT, or admin trainers, leaving admins to go back and adjust work to match procedures. Therefore learning on the fly is a constant as is damage control for clients unhappy with pricing or program structure. 
- marketing (probably the worst out there, offering different promotions that overlap; sends out draft promos to branches instead of final releases; don't inform concerned parties the new pricing; cannot accept constructive feedback, etc.)
- hiring (putting people into management - especially operations managers, general managers, that have NO management training and extremely limited people skills); inconsistency in rates of pay, some staff hourly while others are salary for admin jobs; 
- call center management frustrating to deal with due to improperly trained reps, reps mistreated by their management, and not given the proper information on a timely basis for them to do their jobs properly. 


If the people who work at the call centre weren't seen as the bottom of the company, maybe the labour standards would improve because currently it's laughably depressing. 
The wages are no better than minimum wage,  you have to ASK to go in unavailable to use the bathroom, you're timed in EVERYTHING to the point of how long you're allowed to wait before answering a call ( UNDER 20 SEC).    There is NOTHING in way of feeling appreciated or supported by the company for us in our area, although many of the position gets bonuses- except the call centre jobs. Yet we do all the sales and service bookings, calls, we call out and explain promotions,  all the important first-line communications needed to be successful.  There's no way to move up into different position unless you're good friends with a supervisor - because people get picked to move up outside of our centre posting positions like hiring for Inbound roles.  Youre offered something, its not announced, they're just quickly and quietly moved.  Why?Because then it's easy if they don't think you "fit" to just move you back to wherever they feel with little to no discussion or opportunity to change, learn and improve. Even if you move up what's the point when there's no chance for more hourly increases that aren't VERY MINIMAL, so how do we earn outside booking commissions?? No pay increases, no Cost of Living raise to even help with the  current economical climate.  It's just hard to keep championing for a company that sees what I do as so insignificant and minimal to the overall contribution of their success.   

This company is a useless company to work for. If uou are considering working here...RUN, and don't look back! They don't care about their employees. There is absolutely no fairness here, and this company will screw you over with any chance possible,  if it means the higher ups will put a few more dollars in their own pockets. They don't care about your personal life. If you haven't become beasties with management, good luck getting anywhere! There is no rewards from this company. They give measly raises, and you're lucky if you get 1 every 2 years.....minimum! There is such a huge lack of communication! They don't take advice from CSRs as to how things maybe could be changed and done better. You never know if you have a job, every day you come in could be the day that management calls you on Teams and fires you. But they don't give you a reason. If they do tell you, it's something that has never been discussed before and you didn't even know this was an issue, and they never attempted to tell you, or help you fix it. It's a job filled with two-faced management, back stabbing, and no job security what so ever! The other CSRs are amazing, and also don't deserve the treatment they receive.

If you want to work for this company, think again! They are not worth the hassle!

I just finished my 1st year anniversary at Right Time Group of Companies at the Limcan Branch.  I've been in the business 15+ years and everything has been positive from day one here at Right Time.  The positive attitude from my mentor's has only helped in the good for my growth within the company.  Constructive criticism is beneficial as well.  Coaching back is what we do here.  There is no yelling or screaming.  A good manager and supervisor has the ability to keep employees not lose them.  This is the Right Time way!  Helping other's is what we do here and having a positive attitude will only benefit everyone.  I'm glad I made the switch to Right Time Group of Companies as I don't plan on ever leaving here.  Helping our customer's is where I get the most satisfaction.  Knowing we can help them 100% and never turn our backs on our loyal customers is the best part of the job.  Another great way Right Time helps is giving back to the community and many ways.  They have a program where a special family will receive a free HVAC system.  This is a way we give back to the community.  We also take on CO-OP students to help in the development of their skills.  We have loyal customers from 30-40 years ago and we plan on keeping these customer's and future customers happy.  The future is bright at Right Time.   

A typical day is arriving at the shop between 7:30 and 8:00 and going over what needs to be done.  Conferring with people in other roles to coordinate the work that needs to be done while loading equipment and material that are needed for the day.  Driving to the jobsite and setting up.  Getting the work done.  Cleaning up then returning to the shop.

As with most construction you might have longer days if there is a tough job.  Calling the office to ask for assistance where needed is encouraged.  It was refreshing to see the office would send assistance (usually a crew member or two that might have had a lighter day or completed work early) if a job was rough instead of leaving you on your own to work late into the evening.

There are some frustrations related to having a head office in another province and a call center out of province.  Having worked with many large companies I haven't found any that have avoided this pitfall.  Atleast local management does what they can to mitigate those sorts of issues.

The people I work with are friendly and do their best to help each other out, it is one of the best parts of the job to work with people that will have your back.

Super Plumber is a great place to work for the service man who can sell. Qualified staff, good equipment, and a healthy office culture. I recommend working at SP for anyone new to the area who wants to learn Victoria and meet some of the best plumbers on the island.

Also not a company for the slacker. Don't waste your time applying here if you can't pull your weight. The only reason I left is because of mental health reasons related to all employment, and current life situations.

The caveat is pretty much what you find in any shop. You find politics if you look for them, or talk about them. The other thing I didn't like so much is this is a sales focused shop. I didn't know at the time so much until I went on my own. If your used to the managers doing the selling, and you doing the installing than this company will be a challenge for you.  That being said they're willing to train good men and women into success. 

Super Plumber is probably one of the most solid business models I've ever worked under that isn't a huge company where you are only a number. Over 10 shops on my resume, and two of them were from the ground-up.

Working in several positions at Right Time has been an incredibly rewarding experience. The company truly values its people at every level, and it shows in the teamwork, communication, and pride everyone takes in their work. Every day brings new challenges, and I’ve learned a lot about leadership, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

The management team is supportive and provides the tools and trust needed to succeed. There’s a strong emphasis on safety, growth, and doing things the right way not just the fast way. It’s motivating to be part of a company that recognizes hard work, promotes from within, and genuinely cares about both employees and customers.

If you’re looking for a place where you can grow your skills, be part of a solid team, and feel appreciated for what you do, Right Time is an excellent company to work for.

Once you are hired you'll get a company van, you will be expected to keep it clean, keep track of inventory, dealing with customers, diagnosing plumbing problems, selling and performing work, on call rotation, following up on opportunities, keep your self accountable and hold your self to high standards, as this company will also hold you to high standards!

The job can be stressful, customers can be hard to deal with, difficult situations that may arise as any job has their share, equipment may be hard to find when needed.

There is on going training, support for techs, the company is always growing and with growth comes changes. 

When you are working here you will see that everyone is friendly, admin staff are a pleasant to talk to, they have a great management team and core group that have been here for years, everyone works hard and really feels like a team atmosphere! 

Sending out my crews for their day, doing weekly checks on the trucks for any problems that may be starting to occur, break lines, air lines,tires,and compressors. I learned that I am an excellent manager as I was very fair to every employee that worked under me and I also learned how to be more creative in the overall customer experience. Management seemed to be flying by the seat of there pants on there decision making skills always new processes being implimented then they realize that that doesn't work so they implimented more new processes. The people I worked with at Atlas were great all around people. Knowing that they wanted to keep me as the Duct Cleaning manager and there was no real way to get into the sales position that I was hoping to secure.The most enjoyable part of my job was seeing that people were starting to understand that duct cleaning was actually an essential service that they needed.
