I would avoid accepting any offer to work at Riverside. The company is very poorly run and often makes questionable decisions regarding staff, labour, and operations. Employees here are often overworked, underpaid, and certainly not appreciated despite management's claims otherwise. Morale in the warehouse is the worst/lowest I have ever seen.

There is often more work than bodies, and it is expected that all the work gets done regardless. The drivers are overburdened and trucks overloaded on a regular basis. The schedule changes so frequently, unless you print a new one every hour, you will not have the correct information, which leads to issues in production where orders are added last minute, or need to be rushed, cancelled or moved.  This can result in a stressful work environment, and often having to stay late or come in early.

The company claims they are a family but unless you are actually apart of the family, or their inner circle, you are irrelevant to them. Just a body in the warehouse/office. As far as advancement within the company, do not count on it. You can work as hard as you possibly can, for as long as you possibly can, and you will be overlooked in favour of someone who was better at brown nosing than you. Tenure, merit, and work ethic mean nothing.

Overall, management is terrible. Probably the worst part. I have three different people constantly micro managing. And nothing gets done. You can bring up concerns, especially safety concerns, and nothing will get done. I brought up a concern once, it was noted, and over a month later nothing had been done about it. They definitely do not deserve the title of "best managed companies". Utter nonsense.

Riverside has been truly a great organization to call home since day one. Even beforehand, during the interview process I felt the level of professionalism and dedication that the management/ownership team exemplifies and it is incredible. There was so much that attracted me to joining this company. We are a fun group of individuals that can laugh, share, learn and grow together personally and professionally. It's all very open-door policy and managers are always very welcoming of feedback from their teams. We work hard but certainly know how to enjoy our time which is important. 

Socially the company strives to foster teamwork through various organized social events/outings/functions throughout the year including summer family BBQs, fall Chili cook-offs, bowling night, candy-grams, Christmas luncheon etc.  Collectively, the leadership team strives for excellence in all areas of operation and it really funnels down through the organization to all levels. We're not just family owned-operated - we feel like one big family!

The first few months when you still believe the lies about “being a family” or how much potential there is to grow. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful part about working at this company is the constant push to do more and more (usually because people keep quitting or are fired and not replaced), no matter how hard you are working (don’t even bother asking for more money). Promises are made but not kept, Management says whatever they think everyone wants to hear, but does the opposite. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
This company has a general feeling of misery. Middle managers are constantly stressed and overworked, and the workers that actually care are also stressed and overworked for little pay, which leads to a lot of negativity. You would be lucky if the owners or HR even knows your name if you are a worker on the floor. HR is basically there to protect the owners legally and do their dirty work for them.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The time you’re not there….certain employees can go out for smokes whenever they want especially if you’re a friend of the manager….but if anyone who isn’t goes out, they are told they’re not supposed to be doing that….they tell you that you will be doing certain jobs that you accepted the job for, then end up sanding primer doors all day, everyday….so your years and years of experience mean nothing to them….stay away from this place.

Other employees holding you back cause someone who’s their friend is doing a job they’re not qualified to do.

Tell people what they want to hear and tell on people for anything they say to you.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Wishing and hoping they day would just end so you can leave….

Total chaos is the best way to describe this place. I was hired and thrown on the job with zero training. I was talked to like I was a piece of garbage and was constantly insulted. Many promises made that weren't kept including pay raises and job advancements etc. Majority of the people were good to work with minus a select few. A lot of finger pointing and blaming at this place. Certain people never own up to their own faults and just blame others for their own mess ups. I was constanly told to do unsafe work like climb stairs to the very top rack in the warehouse and carry things down the stairs with no points of contact (which you are suppsoe to have 3 points of contact at all times on those stairs). If I mentioned anything being unsafe I would be yelled at.

My advice is to run the other way from this place if you see a job posting unless major changes have happened.

I personally started in an entry level position in Production while progressing towards my desired career path of Outside Sales. In a short time the opportunity was presented and the progression was made. 

From day one, I started with no experience and I was welcomed and humbled by everyone’s acceptance to provide knowledge and education about Riverside. Each and everyday is an exciting, interactive day with all departments of the company. Everyone from the sales team, to the closet and cabinet team, to management. The marketing team continues to have events that include all team members to ensure morale is up and to keep everyone included. All members of management are actively hands on ensuring production is on time as well as to address any issues. I have never dragged my feet to come to start my day at Riverside. Their core value is family, and that’s how I’ve always felt! 

I have worked at Riverside for 6.5 years and during this time there has been constant growth in the company. Pros to this is there is lots of room for advancement in your position  or completely new opportunity's in the same company.  Con's are with growth comes growing pains. Lots of change over in managment , processes and even shop layout.  If you are the kind of person who likes to show up to work on time everyday ready to work this will be a great place to work.  If you like to show up a few minuites late have a couple of sick days a month and put in minimum effort to your job and expect that the company should be ok with that. Don't bother you will be unhappy and you will make the people that work with you unhappy. 

Absolute chaos with no leadership. Outside teams make daily errors with orders making drivers and labourers have too work harder for there screw-ups. Nothing is ever done about this but happens everyday. Managers are outside smoking 10 times a day because there so stressed out and both owners are there daily but don't talk to anyone, walk right by you like your not there. Only feedback you ever get is negative. Nice people working in warhouse but are not managed everyone is frustrated with all the errors and extra work.

There’s absolutely nothing good with working in the company, from the job to the way the company is handled? It’s a joke. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The micro management from the managers, they won’t trust you on anything. If you like being micromanaged like a 2 year old, this is the place for you. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
None, the warehouse guys have a beautiful culture, that being said everyone else is constantly trying to cover their tracks  so no mistake comes back to them.

No clear sense of purpose or direction.
