The job itself seems so rewarding at first and wanting to help the residents. It doesn't take very long to realize that it's very toxic from coworkers not liking each other, whether it's on the same shift, another rotation, unit, or even department. A lot of people feel uncomfortable with reporting coworkers because when you report someone next thing you know there's a target on your back and your treated poorly and people look for a way to get rid of you. You're constantly being taught conflicting things, and there's no accountability when something goes wrong. There needs to be more consistent training your thrown into your role very quickly and the training you get can differ greatly depending on who's showing you or even the location your in and also hope there showing you the correct way so you don't get in trouble without even knowing better. Honesty goes a long way for me, and I feel I've been deceived on multiple occasions for no good reason by senior employees who should know better. There's a big issue of retaining staff, obviously there's good reasons for that, and alot of people leave for similar work with other employers. 

Yelled at for not asking for help, and been told we are whining and replaceable when we do ask. Told to figure it out on our own, but penalized for the way we choose to handle it.  Management will never take responsibility for anything they do wrong, yet belittle staff for the smallest things. Double standards for certain employees who are friends with managers. Very little pay for job you actually need to do. Incident reports "go missing" when it doesn't make a manager look good. Residents have zero consequences as Riverview doesn't believe in consequences. Punch a Staff in the face then go to the dollar store! Do yourself a favor and apply to HCRS, Plan A, VON, high crest. literally anywhere would be better for your mental health than this toxic work place. Please notice that my review has NOTHING to do with the residents, and everything to do with poor managers, that's saying something. 

A typical work day at Riverview is being run off your feet because you're almost always working short. The management there is so judgmental and does not want to hear anything from resident counselors even though we're the ones who do all the work with the residents. Upper management doesn't even know 3/4 of the residence names. The new CEO I'm not even going to go there.  When I started it it was a good place to work and now the turnover rate is ridiculous because it's awful it's absolutely awful. The residents are fantastic and it makes you feel good to know that you're helping someone else and making their life a little bit better even though Riverview is making yours miserable. There's no work life balance there's nobody to work because everybody's already been there and quit because it's awful. It is rewarding job but it is not worth your mental health and also working at an adult residential center with residents that have mental health problems you'd think they take into consideration the workers mental health issues but they don't. My advice is don't apply there run the other way.

The worst possible place to work. The picture they paint  is so far from the truth. This organization wants people to believe they are all about the residents, and are supportive of staff, nothing could be further from the truth. There is little trust with co-workers, and zero trust with management.  Its a very negative environment, and most staff, and management are strickly there for a payday. It will be a blessing when they shut these institutions down, however unless they restructure with fresh management, and staff that truly care unfortunately not much will change. Pray you or your loved one will never be associated with such a negative, toxic environment.

This is an exciting job with lots of opportunities to explore as an employee. The company is focused on the wellbeing of the residents who live in the Adult Residential Center or any one of the multiple group homes. They have a mission Vision and Values that centers the resident at the middle focuses on how to make their lives as happy comfortable, inclusive and rich with opportunities and experiences and learning as possible. They have a great training and advancement opportunities. They are looking for people that want to work with people in a caring and supporting way. 

They overwork and overbook their casuals, management takes no responsibility for anything and will belittle their employees whenever they see fit. They do not see you as a person here they only see you as a body to throw somewhere where they need you. There is almost no compassion from upper management and they are actively trying to get rid of the union. We have been promised a pay increase for years now and it keeps getting delayed and pushed back with no end in sight. It is a disaster. The residents are amazing this has nothing to do with the residents and everything to do with the abysmally poor management. 

The work culture reminds me of high school and it is easy to get stuck in the drama that is RV.

The management does not support you or help you with quests to advance and they do not wish to follow their own mission statement and values.

The clients are incredible and enjoyable to work with. The job is straight forward and includes common sense and it is easy to ENJOY your job if you concentrate on the clients and the reason you are there.

I was with this company for 3 years.The management was terrible.Very toxic environment.We had two clients in the house and one client was out of control and since riverview is hands off we never felt safe at work.This company is the worst paying company around and now expects Truro employees to drive to stellerton.I would definitely not recommend this company to anyone !!!!!

Bullying, politics, and things you can’t even wrap your head around. The clients are lovely, but the work atmosphere is terrible. You are expected to put Riverview’s staffing needs first and your own family and personal heath second.

Riverview is a poison environment. Most current employees would leave for a better job opportunity. Always made to feel stupid and small. Uneducated management bully people to feel better about themselves.
