Robins Donuts

Started out fine, throws you into the thick of things day one and managers had weird quirk of wanting all bills head/face up. Weird first impression, but nothing bad yet. Manager wound up going on sick leave not long after leaving me to open the store a lot until we got a temp manager. Nothing bad until a co-worker quit during a busy week leaving us short staffed until she came back. Annoying, but still not the worst.

One day the manager decided to schedule me for a closing shift. I told her that I wasn't trained for closing yet. She was convinced that I was but then scheduled me for a training shift a few days before I left on a one week vacation with my family. The time between my training shift and first solo shift was about two weeks. The next time I worked morning with her she snapped at me asking what the eff happened when I closed. Mind you, I only had one training shift before leaving the province on VACATION. Bad idea if you ask me.

The employee offered the manager to train with me some more as she knew I wasn't ready to close by myself yet but the manager told her that it she(the trainer) would have to pay for it. The result was many stressful closes, worrying about missing anything, minor or not, and getting out by 7:30 (they stopped paying people at 7:15). If I stayed past 7:30 I'd get scorn for working late. If I got out before then I'd return to a list of every little thing I've missed.

Plus the manager had no faith in me succeeding in my desired career path which just added salt to the wounds.

The last straw was being told that I was not allowed to go on a trip that I had booked off a month and a half in advance and told that I had to fill out a time-off request which I was never told about in the first place and was originally told that notifying them of time-off was enough.

Might just be the location I worked for but it was a mess and I found another job that treated it's employees like human beings.

- Exchanging information from the other staff that  was working.
- Change the cash register to my name at shift change.
- Making sure the condiments, cold cuts, sub buns, soup, were filled and making sure the drink cooler was filled. Making sure the Donut counter was well stocked and clean.
- Greeting customers when they came in to place an order.
- Saying goodbye and thank you for coming and have a great day.
- I learned that there was some very nice people I served and some not so nice eg ( very demanding, letting kids run all over).
- Customers that let big messes, some that cleaned up.
- Management was very good,they were there to help with problems that needed to be looked into.
- There was many different cultures working at Robin Donuts, some were hard to understand although most were good at English.
- The hardest part of the job was watching kids run around making too much noise for some customers.
- Rude customers that didn't care about the mess they left or how they talked to us.
The most enjoyable part of the job was meeting so many wonderful people, working for a good boss and staff.

I enjoyed working at Robin's. The pace was variable, at times the pace was fast with 10-30 customers to be served. I enjoyed interacting with customers when the pace was slow . 

during a typical day at Robin's:
 
-I helped serve numerous customers, 
-I prepared breakfast sandwiches, sandwich toppings, refilled     sandwich topping containers, 
-wiped down and sanitized surfaces and tools. 
- I (cleaned) and refilled the beverage machines
-I handled customer service at store front; handling cash, credit cards, and coffee cards at point of sale.I also interacted with customers in a professional but friendly manner.

I learned many things at Robin's including
-the proper way to stack breakfast sandwiches
-what all the donuts were called without looking at the labels 
- other numerous tasks

The manager at Robin's was efficient, polite, and hardworking,respectful and easy to talk to.

My co-workers were of various ages and training. I worked well with my co-workers.

The hardest part of the job was keeping the sandwich knives clean and the tomatoes fresh.

The most enjoyable part of the job was knowing that I was part of Robin's helping make customers happy.

Over all I enjoyed working at Robin's and I was sad to leave.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Seeing my co-workers and starting chats with my regulars made the job easier to handle oftentimes.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Poor management, stressful shift work (such as handling a strenuous shift by yourself), lack of communication from managers and lack of understanding from outside employees was a big issue. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Poor. When I worked there, many of my co-workers were not pleased with the work environment, including myself, and collectively thought the culture was lacking in many areas.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
You either work a stressful shift or a ridiculously slow day. There was no “in-between.” Responsibilities included managing customer orders at the main counter and drive thru, checking and replacing food storage, cleaning appliances and other equipment, maintaining a positive attitude for customers, handling customer complaints as professionally as possible, sweeping and mopping the floor, inventory management, etc.

They treat you poorly from head office and upper management, and if you try to speak with them about issues they will simply blame it on you as if it is all your fault, work is stressful and over baring and by the end of if you want to leave and never come back

Co-worker were hard to get a long with, if they showed up.
Working for this company was stressful at times, they would say one thing about what they wanted, then change their mind like 2 hours later.

They don't want you to get courses to better yourself.

When product ie meat and donuts completely thawed because of fridges not working correctly. DM said it's ok what the customers dont know is ok.

There is alot of people twisting your words to make you the bad one then you get in trouble for something that you had permission to have

The people are the most enjoyable part of the job they are all very friendly and nice but the hardest part would be the occasional disrespectful person and a lot of people who love to drink, i should not be around the neighborhood but i really need the money right now so i stay .. I learned a lot like using a cash register cleaning properly, how to do plenty restoring. My co workers are very friendly but some show up late and i get stuck cleaning and doing most of their jobs. I need someone who puts 100% into their employees i feel left to figure everything out myself. Its very boring i need a job where i'm busy doing different types of work , not sitting around .. i get my job done in 2 hours out of 5 hours of work.

A typical day at work would be serving customers coffee and donuts, attending the drive thru, going in the back to dip donuts, assort donuts, muffins and biscuits into bins to be delivered and complete orders. 
I learned how to manage my time effectively to get all work done in time before close.
Management was good for the most part. I only saw the owner once a day when I worked.
My co-workers were great. 
The hardest part of the job was trying to remember everything that had to be done. 
The most enjoyable part of the job was when I got the hang of the work and remembered everything and getting to know the regulars.

I spent four years working for robins donuts. I started when I was in high school, working evenings and weekends. Made my way up, eventually working early mornings. I never made more than minimum wage (11.25) and would find it to be a real struggle to get hours. One week I’d have 40 hours, the next I’d have 20. By this time I was graduated school and was available full time. Staff was catty, lots of drama and unprofessional laziness. Owner was never present. Management was relatively lazy. Overall though I had a lot of fun and made a couple good friends. If management was different I would consider going back.

Being a simple job of necessity, the work demanded of one individual was bearable, but only just. The greater part of the experience at this location were the affable and often quirky clients.

I preferred a tidy and clean workplace, and constantly kept busy aside from the general duties; a complete lack of co-worker made the position rather trying, and I often stayed later than general closing hours, without due pay, to ensure everything was prepared for the following workers.

A typical day includes lots of the same regular customers, some we've built a friendly relationship with. Hardest part is being in what we call the "corner," wearing a headset and taking orders while doing your best to make other orders, writing everything down as needed, all while trying not to mix anything up when products are handed to the worker at the drive-thru window till. Most enjoyable part is the friendships made with coworkers, customers, working together as a team. My job at Robin's Donuts is always fun and rewarding.
