Lies from all levels of management begin in your initial interview. If you make the mistake of showing up for day one you will not be greeted. Show yourself to an office where you won't be discovered until you make some noise. Then you will be told your laptop and cell phone should arrive in the next week or so. Show up to work the next number of days and be given no direction. Walk around and waste time. Maybe the manager will tell you to go and ask a farmer if they'd allow you on their farm to learn how Rocky's products work. Once the laptop and cell phone arrive, congrats now you're really on your own. Show up each Monday for a soul crushingly depressing "sales meeting" If you do manage to find a farmer who doesn't despise Rocky Mtn and would consider looking at some pricing, good luck because now the hard work begins. Any equipment you want to quote, is broken. Any price in the system, is wrong. Get the advertised price signed by a farmer and upper management will decline the offer for no known reason. Needless to say, the toughest part of the job is getting management to help in any way. They will do every possible thing to make selling anything as hard as humanly possible. If you do manage to sell anything there's a good chance you'll just be paying the company back for the money they "loaned" you for the previous 6 months of no sales made. They don't pay minimum wage. If you get the "new" payplan, you get minimum wage plus 50% of the regular commission. This literally makes it impossible to reach 40,000 a year.

My experience at RME was mostly bitter and a little sweet. My direct manager at dealer level in the Service department was amazing. Management beyond him failed me on more occasion than one. I was harassed in the work place by a manager in a different department and not a single thing was done, myself and the situation was brushed under the rug by corporate and never spoken about again. 
I recently gave my notice after nearly a year of sticking out the daily frustration of working for a company that allows executive managers to treat employees like garbage on a daily basis with the only focus being on making sure those front line employees bring in revenue at all cost. Bottom line focused. Nothing else matters. I was respectful when I gave my notice and gave more time than legally required. When required to explain why I was leaving, my honesty regarding my perception about my continued treatment by a single manager, got me terminated effective immediately because that said manger “didn’t agree” with my perception of his treatment towards myself and other employees he is superior too. 

Rocky Mountain Equipment failed me on so many occasions I can’t possibly list them all here in a review.
I was a great employee, I know so because dealer level managers acknowledged my hard work and dedication to my job. Corporate behaviour and attitudes however made me cynical and loathing towards coming to work everyday.

I See a lot of bad reviews about RME and thought I'd add a positive one. I've been a tech with Rocky for quite a few years now. There have been ups and downs like anywhere else especially as a company goes through changes keeping up with the times.
I get paid well. Good benefits with 3 different options depending on your personal needs. My management team easy to talk to. There is not a lot of pressure and we have a great group of guys always willing to help out.
I get to work on a diverse fleet of high tech equipment. My company matches my rrsp contributions. I have never had a problem needing time off last minute for important issues.
My vacation pay is fair based on time served plus I get an added 40 hours a year family/health/personal days.
Constant training opportunities on equipment and a pretty well equipped shop.
There are two busy times through the year. The benefit of this is that you can garauntee the overtime during seeding and harvest especially if you have some projects needing funding and want some extra cash. Outside busy times it's normal working hours. 
We work in time with the farmers. When they are seeding or harvesting we are there to help them and that means putting in the hours to get the equipment ready and fix anything that needs it. It's the Agriculture industry so you have to be prepared for that. 
Over the course of the year I have a great work life balance and get to work on some cool kit with some great people. I would recommend RME without question.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Not their bonus system at year end! They closed a store in November and our branch inherited their inventory with no write downs and included it in our year end figures. Totally Wrong! Dirty Pool and no sense or compassion on upper management about this situation. We caught hosed!!!

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Upper management as in a new Regional Sales Manager who had No Sales Experience and was trying to rewrite the selling manual. He had terrible patience with salesmen and was the worst with very good customers. He received this job because his Dad was a big customer of RME. His Dad could not keep hired hands on the farm as he had no people skills. Like Farther like Son

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Watch your back. They do have many awesome people and then there are the snakes and cancer employees both in and out of management

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Most days were good for the first six months then came in the dark clouds with new management with no experience or people skills. Most on power trips with huge ego’s

Great work environment provided you are not expecting too much, if you are able to hit the ground running and are already fully trained and need nothing but to be left alone to do the job and just pick up a pay check for minimum effort and the same results could be a great match, if you want more or need some training on systems or rules and regulations forget it,  if you want to be more than mediocre at best forget it. Company is mediocre and strives for mediocrity!  Nobody that really wants to be the best and “right by you” , discourages staff to not work so hard, to not take pride in their work, to just do the accepted bare minimum hours and with the bare minimum effort! Going nowhere fast, rather spinning their wheels will never become a billion dollar business without a serious change of attitude.  Easy to see why went private no “ for profit” board would tolerate the work ethic

This company is top-heavy, there are always too many hands in the honey pot. Managers will throw you under the bus the first chance they get, take credit for your work, all to make themselves look better. Your family is most important until RME needs you to work, then your family doesn't matter. Harvest hours are unrealistic for anyone who has a family, and they're talking about goi g to 7 days a week. Job would be good for a single, unattached, hermit of a person that doesn't mind having their mental health being trampled on regularly. You don't matter to anyone at head office until you start costing them money or take time off, then they're all over you like a fat kid on a smartie.  You will work weekends and every holiday through the busy season, but no one above branch-level does. Forget about bonuses, they're unachievable to anyone in the branch. 

Where to start, oh management is always a awesome kicker for that as a tech went through many service managers within a year, they all saw better grass growing elsewhere,
Training does NOT exist except for computer training, take very basic courses and that’s it, and remember corporate says there’s training, just not for you and management doesn’t believe in training yet. And backstabbing always backstabbing some how some way.
Fhp days are no longer unless you use your vacation (which management will force you to use even when you have it booked for other time off) 
Efficiency, yep they demand 100% even if there is no work at the time, there math is horrible for the calculation too, shop time counts against you even if your doing maintenance . Management nitpicks the dumbest ways to improve that .001%

I was service manager for one year when I started and transferred back into shop as a mechanic.   A typical day was anything from construction and agricultural repairs to pre delivery and set up of new equipment.  Attitude in shop varied from day to day as the seasons changed, mostly it was a good team atmosphere.  I learned a lot about managing employee's as this was my first time as a Service manager, I stepped down from service manager due to my young family.   The best part of the job was the location, new shop, good overall attitude, as well as training and benefits.   I quit the job after I transferred myself to the Drumheller branch as shop foreman,  I found the attitude and people in Drumheller very poor an unwilling to accept my new role as shop foreman.

I have been working with RME for almost 10 years now. RME is a good solid place to work.  There have been changes as most companies have, but I do like the changes happening over the last few years.  This is the first company that I have seen who actually hold their lower performer employees accountable.  I have seen multiple occasions of manager speaking with the people and trying to help them grow and help them get better.  If you don't want a full time job, or only want to work 50% of the time don't apply.  RME wants people that will contribute to the greater good and make sure our customers are treated the best way possible.   If you want a full time job, Great benefits, a good salary and want to contribute to something more, then RME has a place for you.  There are tons of opportunities, great staff, management

The people in the shop are great but always get the short straw in regards to wages, work hours whether it be swamped with OT or sent home forced to use your holidays because they can’t keep enough work in the shop, there is no in between.
Management will promise the world and more and always fall short, or completely disregard that the conversation ever happened. 
The work is good when there is some but you’re going to be forced to use your holidays at the most inconvenient times just so you don’t have to go without pay when they can’t find enough work for months on end.
If they force you to take training within 6 months of when you quit you will have to pay the company back what that training cost.
