A clean environment
Good cooks - they were friendly and  helpful
Fellow servers were eager to help out
the seniors there enjoyed the food overall
Learned communication, teamwork, and determination
A good culture of hard work
Management was good overall
Hardest part was setting the tables
Most enjoyable  was seeing the seniors satisfied

Elevators were too slow, frustrating
One person's decision or a mishap at the building can affect the efficiency of operation making extra work, and stress and wasted time
but it would be the same situation at other seniors' residences


The management is terrible. The staff to resident ratio is 1 hca to 12 or 14 residents, so you are run off your feet trying to give the residents the best care they deserve. They have a terrible help alert system, so you can't get to the residents when they need you. Management are terrible, like I said already, but you cant talk to them, they are unwilling to take any opinions or answer any questions, the answer to everything is "it just is dont question it." All in all it's a terrible place to work or put your loved ones in.

I have been working in Health care for over 20 years . I have been at Royal oak for 2 years out of that 20. Since starting here we have alot of staff turnovers due to extremely heavy work load. It is suppose to be a assisted living facility but the routines are heavier than long term care. Management does not listen to staff concerns in regards to the residents . I woukd recommend looking else where for employment.  The staff to resident ratio is 1 staff to 12 to 14 residents . 

-Could be more productivity and organization
-Unfortunately the norm is hearing "that's not my job"
-hardest part of the job is that the hours are getting cut but the same amount of work is expected to be done with the same time originally given
-Co-workers are good considering the situation of being over worked and underpaid 
-Management team also good considering what they are given to work with from head office

I work any time day or night, flexible time. I learned how to deal with different people. How to managed different attitude and deal with different behaviour. In work, it should have a team work and communication to achieve the goal. The most enjoyable part of job are being part of care of elderly, from care thru end of life.

The typical day at work was very busy multitasking to get all the jobs done.
The most enjoyable part of the job is knowing all the residents are happy and their daily needs have been taken care of.
There are many different cultures living at and working at Royal Oak, all are treated equally the same.
The staff and management all work together to make it a happy place to call home.

The residents are great at this facility but the management needs great improvement. Staff are friendly and helpful. Management does not show enough support and seems unappreciative of their staff. Very hard job as the work load is heavy and not enough staff.

I love working at royal oak. The residents are amazing, staff is friendly and management is supportive, welcoming and they value they’re employees. 
I have never felt so welcome or supported at a job before.  I would advise anyone to apply at royal Oak and come join our amazing family.

I am a current employee at Royal Oak Village.  I'd just like to say how amazing it is. We're like a family. Great teamwork all around. Management is wonderful. Easy and fun to talk to. The residents are amazing. Honestly, best career I've ever had.

fellow employees are awesome to work with. everybody. great teamwork and good solidarity among the workers. enough working hours with overtime shifts.
