This was my first job as a new grad. It has only been a few months & I am already extremely overwhelmed. Runnymede uses every skill known to nursing, so my experience was not for nothing, but it is EXTREMELY difficult to time manage, especially for Day shifts. I still continue to have horrible pre-shift anxiety & am dreading the next time I have shifts. Day shift time management feels nearly impossible, & even crazier that in the 8 hour shifts for mornings, I almost never have time to go on break, let alone have a sip of water. Patient's are not the problem here, but the extreme short staffing & lack of resources available. The technology (v/s machine, computer, glucometer) can be very faulty at times, wasting more morning care thus giving more stress. I feel supported from my co workers (some, i understand others are burnt out & miserable from being there so long) but not enough support by management. They continue to be short staff but refuse to hire more people ? My last sentence will just be what pt load the shifts have. Day (5-6pts, but when understaffed they can add up to 2-3 more pts), Evening (up to 9pts), Night (12pts). If you want to work here, I hope you have previous experience to be able to maneuver through this place. Seriously. And if you're a new grad... PLEASE build your skills at a place less overwhelming. 

As a therapist, I would never recommend this as a place of employment to anyone I care about. This facility is based on a culture of fear. Colleagues and coworkers are great, and will be the only thing that gets you through on a daily basis.
Overly staffed with upper management while they increase the workload of therapy/ nursing staff
CEO manages on fear based mentally, there is a ton of nepotism throughout the facility and very unethical behaviour from the her that no one reports due to fear of losing their job (if you are unlucky enough to get a patient connected to the CEO in some way, get ready to be forced to drop everything to prioritize this patient over everything else and create treatment plans against your clinical judgement - or else you'll get called in for a personal visit from the CEO). 
Individuals making decisions about therapy programming have no rehab background or competency; setting illogical, ridiculous hours not beneficial to staff or patients alike. (Full time therapists required to work evenings and Christmas day despite this not being an ideal time for patients, lunch breaks cut in half and staggered because staff were found to be 'socializing' too much during lunch... too much more to list). 
If applying to a position there, get ready to have no work-life balance and an eventual mental breakdown. Stay far, far away

A work place with wonderful staff, however wrong people are in management. The management team lack professionalism, common knowledge/understanding of a hospital environment. They make decisions without actually seeing/understanding what is happening on the unit. They expect staff to go beyond their means to carry out activities in the hospitals that are constantly ongoing issues, without management coming up with a solution to the problems. When you speak with management privately, they go and tell other staff what you discussed with them. The lack of professional is unreal. I would say the hospital is only functioning because of its floor staff, management is just useless even though they claim to hold masters and ensure we all know that. I don't know how the board of directors/CEO doesn't see the downfall of the organization. Patient care at RHC is definitely worrisome.

I had a highly enriching and educational experience. Staff members are welcoming with new members and kind with residents. The center provided a supportive environment where I could apply my theoretical knowledge to practical situations, under the guidance of experienced professionals. The staff was incredibly welcoming and always ready to mentor and assist me. My responsibilities included assisting with daily living activities and participating in the development of individualized care plans. I had the opportunity to observe and participate in various therapeutic activities aimed at enhancing the physical and mental well-being of the residents. The exposure to a diverse range of medical conditions and treatments in a geriatric setting greatly enhanced my understanding of patient care and improved my clinical skills. This placement also deepened my empathy and communication skills, as I regularly interacted with residents and their families. Overall, my experience here was invaluable in preparing me for a career in nursing.

I truly love my job, primarily because every day brings a new opportunity to learn and grow. The dynamic nature of my work ensures that each day is unique and distinct from the last, keeping me engaged and excited. Moreover, the most rewarding aspect of my job is being able to fulfill the needs of others, as I derive immense satisfaction from helping and supporting people. The positive and supportive work environment, fostered by my wonderful co-workers, has been instrumental in enabling me to excel in my role. Despite the many advantages of my job, there are inevitable challenges that come with the territory. One such challenge is the difficulty in effectively communicating with elderly patients, especially those who are unable to convey their needs verbally. This can present obstacles when trying to cater to their requirements and provide them with the care and attention they deserve. Nevertheless, the fulfillment I experience from my job far outweighs these challenges, making each day a meaningful and enriching experience.

Employees
Most coworkers and staff are kind, supportive, and fun to work with. The overall work environment among colleagues is positive and collaborative.

Pay
The pay is lower compared to other hospitals in Toronto. Management has clearly stated that they have no plans to raise salaries, and they consistently avoid the topic whenever it's brought up. This is incredibly disappointing and frustrating.

Management
Management can be accommodating at times, but overall lacks professionalism. They tend to micromanage staff and often treat us as if we’re children. Responsibilities and tasks keep increasing, yet the pay remains the same. It feels unfair and demotivating.

This facility is not the healthiest or most positive workplace, which is likely why there’s such high staff turnover. They’re constantly hiring because people tend to leave quickly. Not many employees choose to stay long-term. That said, if you're looking to gain some initial experience, it can be a decent place to start your career.

Morale is low, staff turnover is high, unqualified people are promoted in to management/director positions, frontline staff are greatly underappreciated and insulted/intimidated on a regular basis by management.  Workload is extremely high with frontline staff being asked to do more everyday with less. Management is not receptive to staff's suggestions and would rather dictate unreasonable/unrealistic punitive mandates to staff than work as part of a team to solve a problem.  One would think with a mass healthcare worker shortage already happening in the province, the company would be trying harder to retain staff but that is not the case.  The company mentality is "if you don't like it, you should resign". It is said so much to staff it should be the new motto. 

Runnymede is a very stressful organization to work for their CEO and Upper Management is very pushy and nosey. 

They are very stern and strict on all their employees and there is no work life balance.

You are expected to go above and beyond for them. They call themselves "family" but what that means is we expect more than we pay you for.

I was very stressed there and glad I got out goodluck to anyone joining this hospital

I am truly amazed by the unwavering dedication of the nursing staff as they managed to uphold their high standards of nursing care despite facing incredibly challenging working conditions. The diverse clientele they served came from various cultural backgrounds requiring different levels of care, which allowed me to further develop my skills and knowledge beyond what I had previously possessed. Completing my clinical training there left me with an immense sense of pride and accomplishment, knowing that I had contributed positively to the well-being of those in need and gained invaluable experience that will undoubtedly shape my future in the field of healthcare.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Taking good care of elderly sickpatients by bathing them, attending their needs during difficult times like addressing their pain, etc

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
It is very stressful if the 4 patients simultaneously needed your service and nobody there to delegate some of patient's needs, otherwise, working there is really satisfying

Work environment is clean and the culture is like a family

I like working at daytime rather than nighttime
