S-Trip

I was privileged enough to staff my first program as a destination coordinator with S-Trip! And man oh man was I in for a treat!! Upon arrival at Toronto’s Pearson International airport I was greeted by a bunch of students ready to embark their March break adventure. Excited students and hardworking, dedicated colleagues flooded the check-in, trying to make sure that no luggage was too heavy, no document went unsigned and finally that they had remember to bring sun-screen. As an S-Trip! Leader, one of your duties is to ensure that everyone is checked-in before you can go through. Once everyone was through, we were given the green light to check-in and that’s when my adventure started. You could feel the excitement of the students radiating off each-other immediately after passing security. Personally, what I enjoyed the most was the excursions. It gave students and staff the opportunity to step out of their comfort zone and try something new. By doing something out of our element, we were all able to get to know each other and create these lasting friendships.

A typical day in the Toronto S-Trip! office begins with our team morning meeting, cup of tea, and heavy focus on larger impact projects. Afternoons are spent on daily tasks, filling requests from other departments and on sunny days, meetings in the park. 

The culture at S-Trip! is like no other. We group up once a month for a company-wide in house 'conference' (All Hands), we get spoiled to lunch-Ins inspired from cuisines around the world, we acknowledge and celebrate EVERYONES birthday, and love getting together for Bring the Fun O'Clock to celebrate big wins and milestones. 

The most enjoyable part of this job is being able to start my own projects and own them until the end. I always end the day knowing I've learned something new in the last 8 hours. 

I'm exceptionally thankful for this experience and to call this my #jobofaLifetime!

Going into the trip I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect, but from the get go my mind-set was to talk to everybody, and try to relate to as many people as I can so the experience felt more genuine as opposed to coming off as a “chaperone”. My approach as a trip leader, as I had often said while on destination in the Dominican was to make sure everyone was having their trip of a lifetime, not for me to have a vacation. I ate as many (if not all) meals with our travelers, took lots of group photos and really tried to push myself out of my somewhat introverted comfort zone and talk to as many people as possible and really connect with them. I can confidently say that my group, and every other student I came across, were incredible individuals and a beyond enjoyable group to spend the week with! I’m so happy I got to experience staffing with S-Trip!, I understand why it is truly the #JobofaLifetime and I can’t wait to find out where I’ll go next.

I love that the company is based around adventure and travel, but most importantly friendship. The camaraderie within the office is nothing I've experienced before - everyone is like one big family! The thing I also liked the most is that I don't think there was a day I came into the office and the vibes weren't good. No matter how stressful or busy it got, everyone was able to communicate with each other in a respectful/calm way and still get things done. Oh! and I also really liked the I love lunches and movie night outings, super fun and everybody was included.

Working in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic gave us a million amenities at our disposal. One of the best things that I experienced every day was doing beach rounds. Watching everyone on the beach put a smile on my face. By the ocean is one of my favorite places to be, so to do beach rounds was something that I never took for granted. Walking up and down the beach and realizing that these students enjoyed it as much as I did, or were taking advantage of where they were in the world really put a smile on my face.

I’ve traveled on the S-Trip! Southern Dominican Sun Program twice a year for the past 4 years and it never fails, every trip gets better and better – every trip is the best grad trip I’ve ever staffed. This year, however, it’s safe to say that I’ve done something new on a grad trip – a new excursion was the highlight of not only my trip and the students that traveled with me, but the highlight of 75 local Dominican students at Centro EducativoCabeza De Toro in Punta Cana.

My first trip to Dominican Republic working with S-Trip was definitely the best experience of a lifetime! I've used all of my skills as a Child and Youth worker as well as gained so much knowledge on this trip. I just want to thank all the HC's and TL's for supporting me every step of the way until the end. TEAM POP WAS A SUPER AMAZING TEAM!!! I was so stoked to be a part of this journey. Once again thank you S-Trip for providing this #jobofalifetime as well as a #tripofalifetime . Much love to you all!!!!!

This Job was one of my favorites, not only because I got to have a good time with my friends but because it demanded a lot of time and a lot of hours trying to organize the best event for the right people.  With this job I got to travel and organize some of Ottawas best events and parties. I was a promoter who organized all sorts of events, from booking the venue, security, DJs, equipment, buses, ect.. 

It’s amazing to find a place to work such that when you wake up in the morning, you look forward to going into the office. Working here has not only opened my eyes to possible career options, but it has confirmed for me how important it is to find a company where I want to be working rather than just finding a job because I need to work. I understand that it’s not always easy to find both, but it's nice to know places like that actually do exist!

A young and energetic office place, it's always fun coming in and working along-side both friends and co-workers. Management does a great job listening to feedback, coaching through any challenges, and mentoring in order for employees to grow through their careers.
