I had a deeply disappointing experience working at the S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Richmond Centre. The entire structure is frustratingly controlled by the coordination manager, with the regional manager essentially acting as a puppet with no real authority. This seems to stem from long-standing personal relationships rather than merit or leadership skills, which makes the entire work environment feel unprofessional and ineffective.

The organization claims to help newcomers, but the truth is far from that. You are discouraged from speaking to the IRCC officer or offering any honest feedback, likely because they have their own agenda to secure funding under misleading pretenses. It’s all about money – not the well-being of the clients.

As soon as a client is registered, they are reduced to just a number. You’re forced to move on to the next client without ever having the time to actually help the people you’re supposed to be supporting. Worse, the workplace culture is toxic – you’re encouraged to distrust your colleagues and view them as competitors, which only contributes to a divisive and unproductive atmosphere.

If you’re looking for a place to genuinely support people and work in a respectful, collaborative environment, this is not it. It’s all about appearances and profits, and I wouldn’t recommend working here to anyone. Look for a cleaner, more ethical workplace instead.

I worked for SUCCESS on a project with foreign workers and they did not care about their safety or the safety of its employees. During the heat wave that happened in Canada in the summer of 2021 this aspect was obvious, fortunately there were no incidents during those days. 

Both me and my colleagues had issues when they had to pay overtime hours, approved expenses or even just receiving the paycheck on time.

Management only asked about goals and numbers, and never cared to listen to us or try to improve the conditions for those people we worked with.


I cannot recommend this employer.
I reported harassment by a male colleague, but the issue was never properly resolved, and management did not provide a safe or supportive response.

The workplace culture is highly hierarchical, with low pay relative to workload and an outdated management style that discourages open communication.

Proclaimed values if service and newcomer support are declaratory only, waste of government funding - implementation is often very bureaucratic and inefficient. Administrative structures and slow decision-making limit the real impact of programs and make it harder to respond quickly to families in urgent housing need.



On the day I voltureered in S.U.C.C.E.S.S. , I learned the cashier skills and how to arrange the registeration information. I was used to be polite and enthusiastic to welcome and satisfy the customers' needs. My leader and team members were very nice and always willing to help. I learned how to perform well in the teamwork. The hardest part for me was to try all my best to satisfy a hurried cunsumer's needs who always had new questions and felt hurried to get a good answer. However, it was so awesome to overcome challenge! Also, the nice working asmosphere was very enjoyable!

Competitive ,  every employee has a targets number of clients they need to meet per year which make employees in competition between each other

Meet with clients, do data entry and network with other team members

Success is a company where I improved my communication skills through talking with customers on the phone and face to face. I improved my organizational skills through filling over 60 files a day. Success is a good workplace to start as a volunteering job or as the first job because they don't need every worker to have any work experience because once you work at Success, they will teach you the basic skills and learn to communicate with new immigrates using your knowledge and skills.

Stress is minimal just being able to deliver classes according to the needs of students

Very light and friendly environment with supportive staff and organized work culture

Just coming to work without stress and have great time teaching and socializing with colleagues

S.U.C.C.E.S.S. was the best place I ever worked.   They put the wellbeing of their employees first.  My management team was very supportive and helpful.  

The only down side to working with this company is that  their positions is all base on government funding which means that the jobs are manly contract that ends.  So there isn't much job security.  

Other than this,  it's one of the best companies I've work for.

The people I work with.  The transparency and organization of the company is great.  Good support there.

The lesson prepping and marking of assessments can be tiring and time consuming.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
great....the management is supportive and there is a lot of help to staff when needed.

My day involved working with ELSA teachers on developing new and Innovative ways in delivering their lessons to ELSA learners. I visited our various offices and trained teachers in integrating new technologies into their classrooms. I also developed the online learning classrooms at all ELSA/LINC levels. This included learning resources for both online and face to face classroom use.
