Working at The Shoe Company was a great first experience working in retail for me. A normal day at work here for me would look like a lot of shoe shopping as well as customer related activity. I learnt how to please customers as well as communicate with them based on the facts I learnt about the shoes we carried. Management was always quite supportive and encouraged ideas from you about how to go about selling in your own way. The hardest part about the job was probably trying not to spend my whole paycheque buying everything in the store, but the most enjoyable part was being able to truthfully connect with customers based on the fact that we had one thing in common: our love or need for shoes.

Our company is the biggest store in Canada in terms of volume, with more than 50 associates that we managed. As an assistant manager I make sure to prioritized service in our store instead of tasking. I learned how to coach, to make sure how to help increase our sales and to manage a big group of kids. It is fun to work with kids as you just have to make sure that you keep your eye on them ,that they were doing their job properly.A typical day at work would be a busy day for some other stores as we are a 7 Million dollar store and we have to make sure to do our above and beyond service yo our customers. The most enjoyable part of the job is dealing with customers and meeting new people everyday.

This Canadian company offered excellent opportunities for internal advancement - during my time there I went from the Children's department head all the way up to Store Manager & District Visual Coordinator. 
I learned the importance of staying within the payroll parameter's and store profitability. I had the opportunity to assist in reorganizing a store location and opening a new one. 
All ideas were listened to by the upper management and feedback back given in a timely manner.
Product knowledge training was most beneficial in order to sell the product we offered.

You create bonds with regular customers and the staff you work with, which is amazing. So welcoming and you sure do get some great friendships out of working there for quiet some time! Sometimes you run into grumpy customers, but honestly where wouldn't you? The new manager ended up being the hardest part of the job. He is usually mean to all the staff and even the customers so that is a main reason why i'm leaving this job.

When the store is busy, it's an easy place to work in, as most associates are used to fast-paced work environnements. Management is extremely friendly and likeable; not as efficient training however they look out for its employees. Perfect customer service is a must at all times while interacting with customers as well as quick and efficient tasks to be done.

The customers I was interacting with made the job more enjoyable. I am very sociable, which helped me ease into the nature of the job. The co-workers were easy to work with. This was my first job which made it a bit difficult on me, because I was new to being in a workplace but I learnt to enjoy to it.

Overall, I had a great experience and would go back if they gave more than 5 hours a week. All associates were very friendly. Working at The Shoe Company helped me learn a lot what its like to deal with negative and positive feed back.

The shoe company is a great place to work, the staff is welcoming and set a good environment for both the costumers and staff. It offers a lot of new learning experiences and opportunities to strive in the work area.

it wasnt a very good job had me working there over 6 months no benefits and no raises with no real schedual. It wasnt hard at all they just never saw me as one of the good ones. My coworkers were great but the management wasnt the greatest.

Helping customers find the prefect shoes and getting to connect with them on a daily basis. including doing open and closing paper work and interacting with delighted customers.
