A typical day at work included the cleanliness of the lunch room, which encourages others to get up and help. The respect I receive from the youngsters are just amazing. They sometimes call me mom.
I learned that others care about you more than you believe.
The management is excellent. My co-workers call me "one man army" because I can work alone when there are big concerts with no problem.
The hardest part of the job, because I am so poor, I did not afford a car then, so when I finish at 11p.m. to12:00 a.m. I had to walk many nights from Hershy Centre, Rose Cherry Place to Hurontario St. to catch the last bus, arriving home at 1:30 a.m. in order to make an extra pay cheque..
The most enjoyable part of the job, is the team I work with, the beautiful shows I get to see on stage.

in really enjoyed my job but was treated very poorly as a co worker of others. i was used then kicked to the curb after i helped to increase  revenue, dropped food cost, lined up repeat customers for the following season, started a great catering program, had great reviews from performers such as bryan adams and was know as the the best place to eat for the whl after we started our team catering program. they seem to hire a new chef every year for some reason. tried to strip my gratuities which was 7-10% of my wage and then offered me a 3% raise!! what a joke for a multi billion dollar a year worldwide corporation that already paid me under the average and could not recognize a job well done if it kicked them right in the face!!

The job offers flexible schedules, some very generous bosses, and good incentives for job advancement within one year if one actively seeks out the opportunity with management. Unfortunately the pay is pretty low as well as the work is not very enticing. The culture or values they try to enforce do not inspire enthusiasm, so no one cares about it.


In all honesty the, this place has it’s ups and downs like everywhere else but the job itself and my supervisor make everything worth it. The only issues with the management is that they don’t to the people who have to deal with the issues they are trying to solve, they create more issues then they solve and don’t have the first hand experience necessary to decide what is best for us

Would start the day at 3pm to prepare for a game or an event, would get out at a reasonable time too following the event and cleanup. Served from a premium game day menu that offered drinks in bulk and gourmet food. The staff was great to work with and training was very informative. Made great relationships with co-workers, managers and regulars.

- management here is very friendly & respectful. They are very accommodating for book offs and sick calls

Management doesn't do anything with complaints. THey do not ask for feedback or give feedback (unless negative), no progress reports or guidance. Training was learn as you go. Staff given more opportunities to work in better areas depending on who they know and not their work habits.

My time at SMG was very rewarding. My peers were efficient, communicative, friendly and knowledgeable. I gained self esteem and time management. Along with guest services I developed skills such as patience reiterating people concerns as well as watching over children. 

Overall was a great workplace to be in with very friendly co-workers. The only problem was there was no set shifts so seniority would always get first pick on open shifts no matter their skill set.

Not a hard job, supervisors don't slack and help with keeping things to run smoothly if it does get too hectic. Great customer service experience because you are interacting with customers throughout your shift.
