The work/life balance at the College is wonderful.  They are flexible and work as a team.

A typical work day for me would include hosting meetings with the departments to discuss Procurement needs, to deliver educational sessions about the importance of Procurement and to guide the departments on appropriate processes to be followed.  

My concider my co-workers to include the entire College since they all require Purchasing Services in one way or another.  They are all eager to work together with me to acheive the optimal outcome for each procurement.

The hardest part of my job would be working within the timelines of the departments to acheive a positive outcome for the procurement processes.  I have been working to improve this challenge by updating and simplifying the Procurement Policies and Procedures as well as developing an educational presentation about procurement.  I have streamlined processes and by working closely with the individuals through the entire process, they have been able to see the benefits of the process.

The most enjoyable part of my job is having the balance between working independently as well as working with a team.  I feel that my skills in project management, change management, analysis, presentation development & delivery, event planning and strong customer service are all being put to use in this role. 

I learned how to learn from my mistakes, and I learned to not be discouraged if en event didn't plan out as expected but to be happy that there was a turn-out at all. I learned that residents in college need a resident advisor, and in all honesty this job was very good for my self-esteem and made me who I am today. Making people smile was the most enjoyable part of my job, whether they were already happy or i had to turn their frown upside-down... it was so worth it. I

The environment was very professional and the employer had a great understanding of time management. They were consistently in touch to make sure you have enough time for your studies as well as able to help individuals in need.

My 'job' at St. Lawrence College was actually a placement that was part of one of my classes there as a student. As that is the case, I can not comment on what a typical work day is like or anything else really.

A good tutoring job. There have been complaints about people not getting their proper pay. The people in charge don't explain the job very well so if you've never done it before it's best to ask exactly what you should be doing.

Amazing colleagues and a very collaborative workplace. Absolutely loved it ! My superiors helped me to learn and grow. I consider this opportunity as a very valuable asset.

Learned about working for a large organization. Not much room for advancement and communication between departments is poor. Workplace culture is exclusive to younger people.

It is a good academic place to work. There is a good working culture, mutual respect between students and professors. I worked a part-time position and I like it.

Was pleasant and exciting having to organize events and parties for the college.
Brought out the artistic side of me.
A fun environment to work in always.

Really busy college bookstore with a small staff. Fun working here and getting to know co-workers. Management was always really helpful and encouraging.
