I worked in the Accounts Payable department at Sussex Realty for a couple of years, and honestly, the job was pretty repetitive. The company culture didn’t offer much room for growth, and a lot of people had been there for decades, stuck in the same positions they applied for.

One thing that really stood out was the weird culture of pretending we were always in good terms with the CEO. It felt like we were constantly being passed around to different staff members, and answering phone calls was almost discouraged. I liked the job itself, but I didn’t have any real ambition to grow..I preferred to just stay in my lane… managers are always angry when we give them cheques to sign

We do NOT like etransfers as way of payment method even though its 2025 now we are stuck in the past mailing bouncing cheques. We have a very toxic work culture…people who talk to themselves who worked there for 25 years even tho are very bad employees gets the upper hand.. do not apply its not for the faint of the heart 

Some of my coworkers weren’t very motivated either, which made it harder to feel driven. If you’re someone who’s okay with staying in the same position for a long time, this place could work for you, but the lack of growth and the odd office culture really made it feel like things weren’t moving forward. You can also find some honest reviews from renters that show how things aren’t always running smoothly.

 spent nearly four years at Sussex, and while my coworkers were fantastic, the overall work environment was incredibly challenging. There was a constant 'us versus them' tension between staff and management, and a culture of fear regarding who would be let go next. Leadership rarely listened to new ideas or valued the team's hard work. I was ultimately fired without a genuine reason, with management simply citing 'restructuring.'To make matters worse, during the most difficult personal time of my life management sent me an email stating my remaining time off would be unpaid. Instead of offering support, they added unnecessary stress. At one point they actually had the audacity to ask me to write a positive review for them online because their poor workplace reputation was driving away quality applicants. If you value your sanity steer clear of this employer

One of the worst property management companies in the business. This is one of those companies that should be looked into by the government and stripped of its LLC license because what they invest in our slums. 90% of their properties our rat infested mice infested bedbug infested holes in the ground. I would advise against anyone ever getting involved with this company because your job security is next to nothing. The management has a vision for what it wants but lacks the fortitude to do anything to secure it. Again do not get involved with this company. If you do just make sure you’re getting a quality salary at the beginning and save every penny of it when they drop you like a hat.

Extremely stressful when you first start out. Resident Managers are expected to do SO MUCH that you have NO time for yourself. You MUST be available 24/7 and the responsibilities are overwhelming as you end up doing your job as well as alot of the Property Managers job.

The management team will throw you under the bus anytime something goes wrong.  There is no support system and you rarely EVER get your calls/emails returned then if something goes wrong they blame you for not communicating with them.
The pay does not even come close to being adequate for the workload.
DO NOT TAKE A RESIDENT MANAGER POSITION WITH THIS COMPANY. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
As long as you manage your blocks effectively and efficiently and keep your block full, you are pretty much on your own.  You do not have to answer to anyone.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Difficult tenants although this is very rare in my blocks.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Work environment is good because I move in good people.  Culture like at the company?  Not much recognition for the good work you do.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I work on my own from home.  Only deal with the company when I have repairs or applications for suites and other issues I may need to address with them.

This company pays little and demands a lot for their pittance. They are rude, liars and cheats and will defame your character given the opportunity. There are no rights for caretakers and they will evict you for no reason even in -50 weather (true story) and do not care if you freeze to death - their buildings are riddled with bed bugs and they refuse to do anything about it telling you to blame the tenants for them - these people are some of the most heartless and disgusting business individuals and the family who own and run it get rich off the misery of others. Do not work for these people - repeat do not work for these people - many disgruntled employees have learned the hard way.

I was responsible for day to day operations of the condominium department with the help of an assistant. A typical day entailed answering queries from board members and owners, scheduling tradespeople and dealing with issues. I also worked out all the budgets for each condominium. I worked closely with company principals and my interaction with other departments was on a daily basis. The most enjoyable thing was I was never bored as there was always something to keep me busy.

They offer you a base salary as Care taker for $1200 Minus taxes and rent of the apartment.

You end up with Basically  nothing.
They use you as building manager without any payments.

They will make your first contract and if they don't like you they will change your contract before the first one expired.

They will use you and re use you carefully.
With all my respect to all the good people who work for them.




After years in larger corporations, it's refreshing to work where people actually matter.  Great support from management and clear room for advancement.  I see a long term future here with a team that values it's people.  There is clear reward for hard-working people with like-minded goals.

as an experienced maintenance technician i understand that an RMs (residence managers) job is very hard, stressful and demanding not for everyone so it takes a special person to run an apartment complex and deal with management, this said i think more support and communication is need to adapt and make it work better for all involved including tenants.
