great place to work if you're looking for somewhere fun and different but management sucks and doesn't follow through with anything they say. they will promise you hours or promotions etc but will never give them to you. they suck at communicating with you about your hours or even proper instructions of what they expect from you. this will be my last season here as I am sick of the unprofessionalism and lack of organization. coworkers are great its simply just upper management. they do not care about you or your needs. I have been ignored multiple times when asking questions about hours and shifts which is completely inappropriate from a manager. overall, would recommend for highschoolers but don't go there if you are looking to make any kind of money and work actual hours.

Working at Safari Niagara was wonderful. Its a lot of hard work and dedication. The animal care manager is easy to approach, extremely helpful and encouraging. Being with animals my entire life I know that there is always more to learn and this zoo is no exception. The animal care staff are wonderful and truly dedicated to their animals, to the zoo itself and to the job. I truly hated leaving this job but sometimes life throws us curve balls. The hardest part of the job for me was dealing with the outdoor elements ( cold, snow ) The most enjoyable part was working with the animals. In a typical day you'd prepare feed, feed and supply fresh water, clean enclosures, tidy up, greet the public.

This was a very fun place to work during the summer. My typical day consisted of me going towards my daily assigned ride, and allowing children onto them, and operating said ride.

What I learned from this job is that a zoo is a fantastic summer job.

Management here were all quite friendly and personable, and made a point of knowing each and every employee personally who worked there. They are also quite flexible with their hours, which is quite nice.

The hardest part of the job for me is those periods of time when there were no kids on the rides, as we were not allowed to be on our cellphones, and generally had nothing else to do other than pick up garbage in our immediate area.

The most enjoyable part of the job was being able to walk around the zoo during our lunch breaks, and view all the different animals.

-Daily duties were always done correctly and if there was a problem management handled it effectively and proactively. 
-I learned how to work in a fast paced, busy environment and how to deal with tourism during the busiest time of year.
-My co-workers were friendly and co-operative, they helped each other out and got along excellently and they always made me feel safe
-The hardest part of the job was working in the heat but management allowed many breaks and refreshments to make sure we stayed cool in the summer heat
-The most enjoyable part of the job was working concerts at night and working in the fast paced, loud environment

What is the best part of working at the company?
The animals and being outside all day in the fresh air . 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Unqualified managers who created chaos instead of leadership . 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Stressful , toxic . Lack of leadership . Very unorganized 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Get to work , put a station with one other person when there should of been at least 4 employees. Left there for your entire shift dealing with angry customers who had to wait ridiculous wait times for their orders .

Worked in food service part-time, enjoyed it until a change in management. New owner doesn’t care about the employees or customers, only money. Cooks have to pay full price if they want to make their lunch themselves. Owners routinely show up with all their friends and demand to be waited on. Was there for 3+ years and the manager’s new hire got promoted before me. Heat in the summers is unbearable and management does little to nothing about it.

Overall a very good place to work. The managers are pretty friendly and fair. Some days throughout the season get pretty crazy and high-stress, but most days are a lot of fun.  The only real complaint you can have here is the pay. After getting enough experience, they will increase your responsibilities and make you train people, all while paying you minimum wage. If you can get past that, this is one of the best summer jobs you could get.

Not a bad place to work.  Unfortunately,  the owners don't care about the employees.  The pay is very low. They make you pay for your uniforms. Very long hours.  Worse part about working there was how the animal caretakers are treated like they are the Gods of the place and they get away with murder.  Interesting place to visit,  but a terrible place to work.

A typical day at Safari Niagara was very busy. From the time we opened at 9:00am til around 1:00p.m, there were constant line ups of parents and children waiting to get in to see the animals. I liked being busy, it made the days better. I worked there with a great group of people. The hardest part of the job was having to work in the heat. The only down side is that it is seasonal.

I feel the line of work you choose to enter is based on your preferences. There several different positions offered at Safari Niagara (animal care, attraction, custodial work, etc.). The bosses are very understanding of your home life, you just have to let them know any issues in advance.Sometimes it can be hot working in the sun. Other than that it was great.
