Sarcan

Everyone is helping out in many different departments of Sarcan processing, from glass removal/breakdown, unloading trailers,weighing and organizing plastic bottles and glass. A typical day would include first glass removal. A Manager will assist you as well. the onsite manager first brings over a bin containing glass to your working station, then the bin machine operated by the other side of the booth with a hydraulic  jack lift that pours the bin into a glass crusher to be smashed ready for transport.
I learned that a work place must be safe and have the right regulations to be an organized industrial plant. The co-workers are great and friendly and easy to work with. The hardest part of the job is outside cleanup which takes a team effort to help outside but it is well worth it.

Working at Sarcan, was one of the best experiences I have ever had, The work was easy; just had to sort the bottles, put them in the proper totes, load the trailer and do some general maintenance.The management was awesome; great salary. My fellow co-workers and I always got along, They were always there for me when I needed them to pick up one of my shifts when I was unable to work a certain day. The hardest part about this job was having to stand mostly all day sorting bottles. The most enjoyable part about this job was when we would all take a break and sit and joke around and have a decent conversation.

I take initiative to keep busy in the work placement.  I encourage our clients to come to my station as I have been told several times that I am a fast and precise counter.  Very faced pace when clients all come in at the same time.  I have learned to work well with my coworkers, as most of them are handicapped or mentally challenged. They are a great bunch of people to work with. They have their specific way of doing things.  The management are understanding and supportive to staff.

I do have to say this to anyone who is looking to work for Sarcan, the training you receive is not enough for all you come in contact with. From clean orders (hallelujah), to the ones that nightmares are made of, it’s not worth it. Just some of the things I have come across: needles, drug kits (heroin and meth), weapons, insects; just to name a few. The management and supervisors were completely unhelpful. The double standards that are in place are laughable. The amount of abuse you’re supposed to roll over and accept, isn’t worth the rate of pay you get.

I enjoyed working for Sarcan because i had work lots, i worked with machines, i worked with the costumers as i counted there bottles, i enjoyed my co-workers. they were very respectable, very nice people. they would teach me to work tasks, my co workers, supervisors and boss had good communication skills. i didn't like working at Sarcan because my boss raised her voice to much when unnecessary, sometimes the costumers were rude but i didn't mind to much.

Honestly, management was horrible and we were stuck working in what was basically a giant tin can of a building with no AC during 30+ degree weather. It was attached to an activity center for the mentally disabled and they were constantly left unwatched and wandered into the Sarcan area, which just aside from causing issues and making it more difficult to do our jobs, was also a major safety hazard. Pay definitely not high enough and benefits non-existent. 

In this job a typical day was arriving before 9:00 AM having my coffee, and getting my gloves and apron on to start counting cans and bottles and helping customers. In this job I was able to learn better communication skills and get my counting better. The most enjoyable part of this job was getting to talk to the customers.

When I first started it was fun. Then when my first boss went to work somewhere else the next boss started to bully everybody. Till they were not allowed to have any fun anymore. They would scream at you for no reason in front of customers for something someone else did. I was told how useless I was at everything.

It was my least favorite job. I quit because I did not enjoy working there. The management was poor, and I did not fit in with the workplace culture, since they have more severe disabilities than me. The hardest part of the job was dealing with bottles and cans the customers brought in.

Great people to work with I recommend this job to people who like to work. Recycling is so important to the environment and this company is trustworthy and accountable for every unit that is brought in by the customer
