Most of the issues with the library comes from upper management. My immediate coworkers are all mostly amazing people and I enjoy a lot of the work but as someone else said that depends on the branch you work at. I've worked at all of them at one point or another and there are definitely "good" and "bad" branches, although issues can and do pop up everywhere. 
There are many concerns that get brought up with management that they don't seem to care about and they make terrible decisions with 0 insight from any of us who actually work with the public and expect us to take the brunt of the consequences.
Unless you are going into HR, have an MLIS, or are able to stay 5+ years, don't expect to get a full time job. The pay per hour is pretty good, depending on the job, with good benefits but the vast majority of the jobs are part time. Honestly the full time front facing positions to manager ratio is probably close to 1:2 in favour of the managers if I had to guess. 
Oh and they don't provide professional references. 

Over the years the workplace culture became increasingly negative and toxic.  I left as soon as I could see the tide was turning.  The best part of the job was the fact that it is intellectually stimulating and most of the clients truly valued our services.  The worst parts were the irregular and sometimes unreasonable work schedule, lack of support from management, elitism, and low morale.  There are opportunities to move around the organization and try different roles but promotions can be difficult to achieve.  I developed a lot of skills and knowledge when working at SPL.  Over the past decade I have become increasingly sad as I witness the devastating impact of the current management on my former coworkers who are highly intelligent and dedicated.  This is a great place to learn skills and get some early career experience but it is important to keep work-life balance and the big picture front and center when working there.

I enjoyed my work for most of my career with Saskatoon Public Library. I did collection maintenance, programming with children of all ages and serving the public who visited the library.  There were many changes with the structure and operations of the library system and our jobs in the last couple of years

Leadership is toxic, reactionary, thrives off of pitting people off each other, no planning or thoughtfulness, no cohesive vision, fiscally wasteful and employees are not valued - never asked to participate in decision making and never asked for their point of view. The values professed are just lip service.

Arrogant management, expects you to check emails even outside of your work hours, too many unnecessary managerial ladders to get through for planned leaves to get approved. 

Overall it was a good place to work. At the time easy for me to get to. Flexible schedule. Management was awesome. The work was easy enough to do but physical. Overall a good place to work.

A place where dedicated, hardworking and caring people work, providing essential services to the public. Fast-pacing job that calls for extra hours, and is fairly compensated.

Its a nice place, i learned a lot and co workers are awesome to be with. I love my job here as a page. I always thankful to saskatoon public library for the great experience

I really enjoy the work environment and atmosphere. My manager is supportive and always available to help when needed. The work-life balance is also great perk!

i learnt managing things,working with a big team,timing myself.i work part time which helps me to earn money as well as to continue my studies.
