DO NOT COME HERE UNTIL THE CURRENT SERVICE MANAGER IS GONE

This is my multi-year review of this company. If you aren't a licensed technician, and you're an apprentice - expect to be a janitor. Look elsewhere.

Shop culture is okay when you are in everyone's good graces. Technicians are supportive of others when help is needed. Licensed technicians are nice and you can learn from them for the most part. Shop foremen are open and transparent to conversation and is someone that can be absolutely relied upon for support. However, jobs can be taken away if you are not careful with your words. Beware! There are multiple boot-lickers in the shop, who in their delusion believe, turning your back on fellow techs will carry favor with the service manager.
Sales will bend over backwards for the high spending customers, but they will often berate customers behind their backs if the customer does not intend on spending big on services. Some of the advisors are short tempered especially when they come across objections, or when they receive pushback from customers and technicians. Other advisors are disorganized, and sequentially, they will set unrealistic due dates on work, resulting in arguments between Advisors and Technicians. Some Advisors will sell relentlessly to reach targets at the obvious loss of long-term customer retention. Ask any technician at this store, and they will present you the names of the advisors which come to mind immediately.
The management of the parts department and the sales department leave much to be desired. It often feels as though both departments do not communicate with anyone, as there are frustrations being thrown around everywhere. The management of both departments seem to only care about themselves. I have never had a Manager prior to this job tell their technicians that they are too busy to allow the technicians to complete their current job. The Manager of the Parts department seems to have no function at the dealership, his second in command is the true savior of this department. Management clearly lacks judgement with regards to the long term future of the organization, as the number of recommended services that have been declined by customers have increased due to the increased pricing of shop labour rates and technician/advisor greed. Inferred from the service manager, “the vehicle count is at its lowest” – you don’t need a PHD to understand why.
The service manager has the characteristic of "I am the manager, so everything goes my way", thus creating a culture of class and hierarchy in the service department where technicians are at the lowest ranking, then comes the advisors, while the managers reap the benefits. Managers do not, and I cannot stress this enough, do not listen to ideas or thoughts from the technicians. They will give any excuse possible to throw away possibilities of long term growth. As a technician, your concerns have been taken, and immediately thrown into the garbage. Further, the Service Manager refuses to give a scheduled weekend off to the Technicians. Something as little as this can go a long way in showing respect to your Technicians and staff in general. 

The Service manager is keen on secrecy and inducing fear, while actively avoiding problems and confrontation wherever possible – Everyone is kept in the dark and spoon fed lies, including the Owner/General Manager of the Dealership. With the current management, this dealership’s service department will not survive the coming years. 
Put simply, the Service Manager needs to understand that this way of management is no longer viable, and this type of attitude is no longer acceptable towards your employees either. This is very evident in the troubling turnover rate that this department continues to face. The Service Manager is an outdated man, well suited for retirement, in a world that has evolved far beyond his capability.

Working at Scarboro Mazda was a fast-paced experience where a typical day involved assisting customers, coordinating with team members, and ensuring smooth daily operations. I learned how important communication, teamwork, and customer service are in a dealership environment. Management was supportive and focused on maintaining productivity while helping employees improve their skills. The workplace culture was professional, friendly, and team-oriented, especially during busy hours. The hardest part of the job was handling high-pressure situations during peak times while maintaining excellent service. The most enjoyable part was interacting with customers and coworkers, building relationships, and being part of a team that worked together to achieve goals.

Don't bother coming here to work. It is not worth it. As a Technician, you will never be able to get a day off or even a weekend off. The management expects only yes from the workers and nothing else. The pay is low compared to the industry standard. The work environment is toxic and harmful. Everything is dirty or disgusting. There are also no shop tools. The only good thing is you won't regret getting fired or quitting this place. They will always take you back because everyone is always leaving. I will not even mention sales as they are useless as they come. I have no word for the management especially in the back . They ( he ) are the sole reason why there is a shortage of technicians and detailers in the back. Honestly, you can not even describe it, you just have to meet them( him)and then you will understand why.


Working here is only beneficial to a certain few. Management only cares if they’re making money and have zero regard for their employees. No point in bringing up issues to them as they have and will curse you out. Certainly not the right place for exposure to the automotive industry as many practices set forth by management are straight up dishonest. Don’t even bother trying to get people to change their ways here. There is zero team here everyone is out for themselves and it’s unfortunate that a certain few have been caught up in this god awful place because they don’t deserve this kind of treatment. Lastly this is one of the most dangerous places to work as the management are not following COVID-19 procedures like following the stay at home order and not wearing masks indoors etc. 

I’ve been at Mazda for a long time and the people there are nice but the pay is really bad. I put in a lot of hard work and get underpaid. I usually work more than others in my department and still get underpaid. I’ve asked for a raise and it took almost 3 month to get it after asking repeatedly every 2 weeks. As soon as I get a really small raise and commission, my co worker would start to take steal my commissions with the work I put in with the customers. After that I realized I can’t work  at a place where people don’t value you or your hard working skills. Overall I would never come back to working Mazda unless I get paid what I need to get paid because most people there just sit down and not pick up the phone when others are busy, they just stare at the phone until the other person isn’t busy.

Working at Scarboro Mazda has been a really good experience. The company puts a lot of effort into training and helping the sales team succeed. You get the support you need to learn the job, improve your skills, and build a strong career in the auto industry.

The environment is friendly, fast-paced, and focused on teamwork. Management is supportive and wants everyone to do well.

You learn a lot from this dealership - both what to do, and what not to do. Great training, some management are inspirational, whereas others lack character. 

You won't like working for this company if you dislike being micromanaged and working in a very rigid authoritarian-like environment. Sometimes you will get harsh, if not rude criticism from some managers, so be prepared! 

All staff have a positive attitude and work together as a team to provide superior customer service.

Management will drive you nuts as there’s no structure. Everyone walks all over you and expects you to be fine and act like nothing ever happened. Rather than owning up to mistakes they put the blame on their employees and move on. You will be overworking while being underpaid and given false promises on promotions, opportunities, etc.  By far one of the worst places I’ve worked at. I recommend asking them how many people come and go because within my time there I’ve seen more than 7 people quit. Toxic environment.

They would expect you to do so much for a minimum wage. Not a comfortable work environment. People worked there for 3 years for minimum wage and no space to grow. No HR. Terrible and under-qualified customer relations manager.
Your hard work will not be appropriated and please don't think anyone there can motivate you to do better. The most screwed up management I've ever witnessed. I have pictures of customer's drivers license copies on the floor when I used to start my early morning shifts.
