This is my third year working at this company and I have never been mistreated. The management team is very friendly, helpful, and patient and wants all their workers to succeed. They treat their workers with respect and compassion continuously. The workplace itself is very safe and welcoming and all the staff get along exceptionally well with one another, and treat each other with kindness and consideration. The hours are very steady and consistent, and if you are a hard-worker you will reap the benefit of gaining more additional paid hours during the busy season if you chose to accept them. I have learned so much from being in this job, including, time-management, determination, hard-working and communication skills. Overall such an amazing job I truly have nothing bad to say about this company, and I am immensely grateful and thankful for everything this job has withheld and granted me in the time I have been here. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
The company did everything to avoid giving overtime while also getting the most work out of us possible. 6 days a week 7-8 hours a day with two breaks (15 mins and 30 mins)
Uncomfortable cheap uniforms, did not feel paid enough for the danger I was in, and was given nothing more while being expected to train new people or take new responsibilities

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Everyday felt like one more step towards my grave

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The majority of people working here are young adults or teens who are paid the bare legal minimum because they don't know the value of their labor. 
Whenever the environment and stress led me to an injury it was blamed on me

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Get to work, slam down a monster, put on my itchy sweaty uniform, lift boxes (up to 40+) pounds over my head, carry pallets across the warehouse and throw them into the trash, train new stockers (high turn over rate), take a 15 minute break and repeat until I went home

I worked here for multiple summers and enjoyed for the most part all of it, through this job I was able to improve peer management skills, time management and my personal work ethic. My best work was always expected of me, however that set a precedence for all of my future employment opportunities, and has already helped me further my career. For the most part, employees are students looking to make money over the summer, often making a fun working environment. Work can be stressful as there are numbers the workplace has to achieve, and with this skilled employees are preferred, however with a bit of motivation and hard work, School Start is a fun experience and a solid way to make good money. I would suggest School Start only to friends who I think can work hard, as it is frustrating to work with lazy, and unmotivated peers.

School start is a great place to work if you are looking for a full-time summer job. The work is consistent and once you get into a rhythm it becomes quite easy to accomplish. Throughout my 4 summers at School Start I learned many key skills including organization, accountability and teamwork. The atmosphere at School Start is very positive; there are always people offering help when you need it. The hardest part of the job is getting through a full day without getting distracted or bored as the work at school start does tend to be repetitive. The part of the job that I most enjoyed was working with the other people there, it really is like being part of a team. I also liked that work started and finished early so I had plenty of time to myself after work and I was able to avoid rush hour traffic.

Management did a poor job of making workers feel like they were worthy or at least human beings. The only people who work in the warehouse are uni students, high schoolers, or family members/friends of the owners. There is an excruciating amount of hostility amongst the workers, and the management is not effectively trained in conflict management. I felt like an aunt working I put money in the owner’s pocket.

This is a unique and exciting workplace with owners who truly care about the success of their business and their employees. Staff are always encouraged to voice their opinion or share ideas that they may have and are always given credit for such. If there are issues management will try their best to resolve issues.
This is the place to work if you are a hard worker and are looking for a busy and friendly work environment. Overtime hours are typically optional later in the summer if you are looking to make some extra cash.

Typical Mom and Pop owner company. Owner has zero training in management and is unprofessional. The employees are mainly friends and family from church, and are favoured by the husband and wife duo. You can expect to be underpaid, extremely mistreated, and being overworked is the common theme of this company. Save yourself the stress, and find a job with a reputable company with educated employers. There is a reason the employee turn over rate is so high.

Right away, I knew this is where I wanted to spend my days and where I could best put my skills to good use. The atmosphere here is the finest I've experienced. It's encouraging, supportive and everyone is very knowledgeable and very content. This is a place of business where everyone really enjoys what they do. The hours are really quite good and the benefits are many. It really is a first class place to work.

There's such a high turn over rate you will understand why in less than a month working there.  I want to list all the negative aspects of this job but the review guidlines restrict me from doing so.  Take that information for what its worth :(

My day always starts with my boss asking me how I am doing and actually wanting to know and to listen to how I am doing.  While working here I have learned it is okay to ask questions.  The most enjoyable part of my day is spending time with my coworkers.  We even get a few free meals to top it off.  My contract was just for the summer and I am going to miss the people I get to work for and with.
