this was the worst place i have ever worked, the management is rude, inconsiderate and selfish, whom also show favoritism and leniency towards those who land Favorited, in the summer 30+ degrees and they would make SOME us work non stop without a single fan, winter working conditions are unacceptable as well unsafe with no exceptions to storm conditions.

i was hired on full time at Scotia recycling after being there for 7 months.(when i was hired on they said full time after 3 mon.) and worked very hard at my job because it was something that has to be done and it pays the bills and ONE day before i was about to be unionized they let me go with out reason.

Worked here for 3 years, money was okay and I worked full time for the majority of 2 years...management never changed my pay from part-time to full-time, which never let me take vacation when I left, also supervision was limited and never helpful. We found needles and sharp objects only to be ignored by the supervisor. I was taught the management position and was the only one who knew how to run the computers at the location but never have been given a raise or promotion. Would never recommend Scotia recycling because management and supervision are extremely immature and unprofessional

I’ve been here for almost 2 years and I feel sick and unwell all of the time… supervisor is awesome but boss isn’t. Very dirty work environment and you only get paid 15 an hour lol the only up side is the benefits but like come on… there’s other jobs out there that pay more with benefits that is a lot cleaner… there is black mold in the bathrooms. I forgot to mention that there’s rats running around like it’s there playground so you constantly get a whiff of Ammonia on the daily along with the stuff from the garbage pile that’s as high as the tent ceiling most days lol have fun…

Breaks are scheduled and never change, so you never miss a break or end up being late for one.
Hand-eye co-ordination is a must.
You should be able to get along with co-workers and other staff, as it makes the job easier and more enjoyable.
I would say the hardest part of the job is adjusting to the weather changes, come prepared and you'll do alright.
It isn't a clean job, so don't expect to walk out after a day of work without looking a little dirty.

I would start my day with cleaning out the hopper/sorting line for the new shift, I worked the even shift.
I learned to stay on tasked,Be careful and be open to others opinion and room grow with the company.
My co-workers were alway there when I fell behide.
The hardest part was saying good-bye.
My fav part of my job was seeing what happened to the material after if was sent of for remaking and brought back.

What is the best part of working at the company?
A four day work week. 10 hours a day

The management not keeping you informed about changes.

As for any company they have their favourites!!

Busy, noisy, smelly, and dirty

Terrible place to work. Management treats people like garbage, always short staffed, and if management is stressed they take it out on their workers and use scare tactics to keep people from taking days off and make them feel bad for doing so. It's just an overall toxic environment. If you're looking to better yourself, do not apply here.

The orientation was brief, too brief! Another sorter ended up helping after.
Not all the proper safety equipment was given, had to ask for a dust mask or else my nose would be filled with black gunk at the end of the day.
Most sorters are friendly...most. higher up the position it seems the more inconsiderate the person tends to be. DO NOT WORK HERE UNLESS YOU HAVE NO CAPABILITIES AT ALL

Great bunch of employees and friends which have achieved a lot of goals over the years. 
Poor productive materials coming in to sort and impossible tasks to achieve great production and low residuals. 
Could be a way better setup for materials being sorted. 
Easy solutions to fix but never applied . 



SRL is part of a, privately owned, amazing, family of companies. Senior managements priority is safety above all.     They promote a culture of family and belonging. I've never experienced the level of support for employees, from a company, like I have from SRL.
