This may be a suitable environment for individuals who are comfortable navigating high-pressure situations with minimal structure or guidance. However, those who value psychological safety, consistent leadership, and collaborative communication may find the culture difficult to sustain long-term.

The company is mid sized with a good reputation in the Vancouver, BC market. Scott is large enough to work on interesting projects (high rises, schools, university labs, churches, etc.) but not so large that you feel like "just a number". The Calgary, AB office has been growing slowly but steadily over the past few years in what has been a difficult Alberta market.

Senior management is approachable and they make time to visit the sites and get to know field staff as well.

Like most jobs in the construction industry, needs will change depending on the project stage. There will be times where long hours will be required, and stress always needs to be managed well. The jobs are demanding, but do feel rewarding.

Scott is a quick paced yet collaborative environment. They have a strong safety culture, and promote health and well being for their employees, inside and outside the workplace. Scott is a union company, and there is a great benefits program.  A testament to how great a company Scott is to work for, is how long the employees stay.  Several employees have been here anywhere between ten to thirty plus years. If you are lucky enough to get hired by this company you wont want to leave.

As a PM I enjoy working at Scott, it is a respectful and progressive work environment. Among many benefits of working at Scott one that stands out for me as a PM is our PROCORE software which I like very much and find very enjoyable to work with! I can also thank Scott for giving me opportunities to further my skills/training for example Gold Seal. I would recommend Scott as an excellent place to work for those seeking a career in construction!

This has to be some of the worst on-site management I have ever seen in my 20 year construction career. The onsite management is unqualified and disorganized, plans change daily due to them realizing they don't understand the procedure of construction and don't. I don't recommend working for these clowns, you will hate your job and eventually quit

Scott is a great workplace! Staff genuinely like each other and embody a supportive, collaborative team culture. The company really takes care of its staff, with lots of opportunity for training and advancement. There are ongoing teambuilding events and lots of laughs at numerous staff functions that focus on fun, health, and personal development. I'd recommend this company to anyone who has a professional work ethic, is a team player, and has a positive attitude.

Scott places high value on their culture and creating a worksite and team that feels like home.  They take care of their people and provide a better experience than many other construction companies do.  They treat you like a member of the team, not just an employee who doesn't matter.  Can be lots of work and hours when the job is busy but the hours are good and they are understanding when personal stuff comes up.  
Overall I'm really happy to have found this company.

Don't ever go there. There is no training plan in place. After two weeks, they expect you to handle a heavy workload without providing any information about the project's history. They don't conduct any technical interviews during the hiring process. They simply hire you and then, because they don't have time to train, they let you go. It's complete nonsense.

Scot Construction Group is a good place to work for people who have experience in the industry. The wages were fair and the company operates professionally. The job requires workers to relocate to different construction site, which can be a challenge for people without transport.

Scott is a progressive company, treating staff as its most important asset. Staff and management are supportive of each other. Our mental health initiative is industry-leading. Employees are given opportunities for growth, encouraged to keep learning and challenge themselves.
The working environment is excellent.
