Sentry Investments

Not a bad place to work, but don't get caught up in working towards a promotion, unless you're on the Investment Team. If you get a job with the Investment Team, this is an ideal situation for you, do not hesitate to take the job.

For all other positions, Sentry is a decent place to be in transit in terms of your career, but don't expect to move up or be promoted. The scary part is that people that are promoted are either amazing (which takes forever) or terrible (you scratch you head at some people's promotions). A lot of middle managers that frankly don't see the point in moving their team ahead, as the teams are typically small, most middle managers don't want someone below them to move ahead of them.

A LOT OF POLITICS and executive team is largely made out of people that did not ascend in a natural progression, but remember it is a private company, the owners son is not going to be a middle manager. 

As long as you understand all this, not a bad place to be for a small period of your career.

One last thing, the staff is amazing in general, a lot of good people work at Sentry.

Learned about financials which was a new field for me and about Salesforce, a sales CRM tool.
Thoroughly enjoyed using Storyline to create e-Learning pieces for Sales on Salesforce.
Had the opportunity to work with great teams of people - Client Services, Sales, and Compliance.
Enjoyed being a valued part of a relatively small company.

A lot of autonomy, varied job duties in addition to instructional design - some facilitation.
Provided me with the opportunity to use Articulate Storyline as well as deliver soft skills facilitation.

I Provide full administrative and sales support for top performing Associate Vice-Presidents. This is by coordinating sales meetings and events daily. As well as answering all inquires from Investment Advisors within my territory, about mutual funds and other client related questions.

The company went through many ups and downs over the many different market cycles and it ultimately grew and became successful. Employees were treated well and offered good compensation and benefits.

Unfortunately, this company no longer exists. It was sold to another very large mutual fund dealer. It was a pleasure to come to work every day. My position was challenging and my supervisor was the best person I've ever worked with.

IT is a great place to work! I work on a team that makes a big difference and has good team values. IT provided the best perks for a well-run tech company without the superfluous distractions. I loved my short time there as a contractor, despite not being a badged full-time employee.

A privilege to be associated with.  An excellent employer, very committed to individual welfare.   Generous benefits and wide educational and development opportunities.

Company had a stellar team approach within departments and on an interdepartmental basis. Fine example of an entire company with a client focus. Culture was nurturing with a win/win focus.

Too bad they're gone. :(
