One of the impressive facts about Shepherd’s Care Foundation is its many long-tenured employees, which speaks very highly of an organization. All the various teams of diverse and multi-cultural staff, alongside the Service Providers, work well and efficiently together, and are highly experienced in their roles. They have a deep commitment to the residents by providing best of care!  Why this is the residents home!! The staff are supportive of the mission, vision and values of the organization, which is ‘living in a caring, Christian environment’. This is truly lived out, led from the pastoral care department and its leadership, in providing the spiritual care requested by residents and families, as well as staff, to all who wish to participate and benefit. It’s their heart desire that God’s love be shared with all.
 
After working at Millwoods Campus for the past 35 years, in various capacities, Recreation, Volunteer Services, promoted to Manager of two Manors, and during that time having my parents and later my husband in their care, I’m exceedingly thankful to be here. A second generation tenant!! I have high respect and appreciation for the compassionate, loving, excellent care provided by the front-line, and all the other supportive staff! Working through the pandemic made it twice as hard! There’s highly increased acuity and complexity of care of long-term and new residents compared to a few years ago, but everyone gives it their absolute best, supporting each other during time of personal increasing family responsibility and work stress!  Yes, they certainly could use more staff, (they’d be the first to agree and are influencing the powers that be) but they follow AHS guidelines, mandates, and the industry standards. Awesome!
 
Management and the Leadership teams have always welcomed feedback and immediately addressed any concerns I’ve brought forth. Even now, as a volunteer, my personal experience is that anyone’s input, whether a new safety concern, evaluation of meals, a question regarding personal & medical care, is respected, well received and valued. There’s then prompt attention given to what was brought forth, or something is explained for better understanding,  and correction and improvement made promptly or as assessed.
 
I highly recommend long-term care as well as the designated supportive living units. The whole MW campus, shared with SGT Independent Living residents in the Manor and the Condo, is a very special, vibrant, busy community. It’s been an awesome past, and I trust SCF will continue to be a leader in this field into an amazing future. Why, I’m already a resident here for the past 10 years – looking forward to many more!

Collaborative workplace with supportive multidisciplinary team during daytime hours. Excellent high quality facility with on site restaurant quality food for reasonable prices. 

High stress environment due to conflicting priorities in workload and new worksite. A lot of staff turnover in a short time resulted in excessive mandatory overtime (worked 50+ hours a week when my position was a 0.7FTE) with next to no notice, was overworked, resulted in becoming ill, and then was refused sick leave. Was forced to take on multiple roles outside of my scope of practice while sick in a healthcare facility. Direct supervisor was always busy, unwilling to be flexible and was less than supportive.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The staff, the residents and shepherds in general.
It became my second home away from home.  

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
When my residents are passing. Knowing and caring for them and talking to their families about who they are and seeing them fading away makes it soo hard and stressfull at times

Diversed. Multicultural. Sharing dishes during potluck 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Feel accomplished evrytime our residents say thank you. And also taking our lunch breaks with other staff catching up how the day was going

Good benefits including health spending account 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Pressure from organization, high ups as well as founding members of the organization that are still involved. Strong religious influence with a lot of limitations for programming. Also they eliminate people from the organization a lot for no reason

Mix culture for sure. Some staff are really nice and great to work with and others are miserable

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Busy with my job roles and a lot of meetings

fulfilling, helping clients with daily needs, trouble shooting, addressing concerns, advocating for the clients, everyday is a learning experience, management is supportive with guidance and resources. There is team work, respect and we value each other. Not been able to spend as much time with our clients as much as they deserve is the hardest part of the job. Making a positive difference in the client's life by being supportive and providing the best care to client is the most enjoyable part of the job

The culture of our teams is supportive and collaborative.

There is always lots to do, like everywhere in seniors care.

Caring and supportive !  The teams work together to care for our seniors.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Each day is different, we are busy but the work is satisfying!

Hours, Pay, Benefits, Free parking, Shift Premiums, Overtime Pay, Friendly Staff, Nice work atmosphere. Paid sick and vacation days.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Nurse to resident ratio can make it stressful at times

Friendly staff, supportive management, Christian faith based. Cultural diversity .

When I started at Eden House, we only had a few residents and the facility was still developing. I got ample opportunity to learn different skills. The hardest part of my job was to keep up with the change in management, but the work culture was always open and supportive. Eden House, Shepherds Care has provided me a place of work that I genuinely enjoyed and consider myself blessed to be a part of SCF family. 

People like staffs,resident,family and visitors are happy and delighted in their being part of service in the community.Working in the company is like a second home .Everybody put their time and effort for the well being of the residents

Shepherd's Care Foundation was a great place to begin my working career. Excellent staff dynamics, support and mentorship from all Executives, and a fun environment with innovative educational opportunities.
