Shift Energy Group

No two days were alike. There were various stages of solar and storage projects. I started each morning by reviewing the tasks for the day with my team. This could include site visits, working with clients and permit offices, analyzing designs and proposals, and ensuring we were on track to meet deadlines. There was always something new to tackle.

What I Learned: I gained invaluable experience in solar installation client relations and the renewable energy field. Learning the specifics of solar and battery technology was really interesting. I also improved my communication, organization, and problem-solving skills through the various challenges our projects involved. The fast-paced and collaborative work environment at Shift was the perfect place for me to develop my career.

Management: The leadership team at Shift is top-notch. They genuinely care about every employee and foster a supportive culture. Shift's managers are great role models and truly believe in the importance of innovative sustainability solutions.

Workplace Culture: It's hard to find a more driven and passionate group of people than the employees at Shift. Everyone shared a commitment to Shift's mission and wanted every project to be a success. It was an extremely motivating environment to be a part of. Shift also made work-life balance a priority through casual dress, flexible hours, and team outings.

Hardest Part: Solar construction projects can sometimes encounter unexpected delays or issues beyond our control. it was difficult when we faced setbacks in moving projects along. But dealing with such challenges is all part of the job, and I'm proud of how our team consistently worked to overcome obstacles.

Most Enjoyable Part: Without question, the most fun part of the job was witnessing the finished product - seeing the solar arrays actively generating clean power or the energy storage systems helping homes run independently of the grid. It was extremely rewarding to play a role in building the renewable energy solutions of the future.

A typical day at Shift is 8:30am-5 pm Monday through Friday! However, my manager is always open to discussion regarding flexible work when I need it! 

I learned a lot at Shift and it is always excited to be part of the Solar industry and learn more about this growing industry in Canada and the world! Shift Staff are pioneers in the industry and they are a great mentors and teacher! I feel so confident talking about Solar systems even I am not engineer! 

I love working with the management, they very thoughtful and consider it and they care about you as a person! Actually one my interview question was " What was your last act of kindness" This shows how much they care about people! 

At Shift the work culture is like a community! I have built a lot friendships over the time at Shift and I enjoy how everyone is looking forward to improve themselves and be better employee and co-worker. 


The hardest part of my job that I want to do a lot of things and it seems there is no enough hours in the day! I love how my manager always ensure that I am not burnout and that I am on track! 

I love this job so much! I am passionate about the environment and working at Shift gives meaning of my professional life! I love people, and Love to be creative and challenged and I love to work in new and exciting industry! 

I worked at Shift and want to give others a fair warning: this company will drain you mentally and emotionally, and upper management won’t lift a finger to stop it.

When I started, I was optimistic. I loved the people, the flexibility, and the idea of working in renewable energy. The team is what kept me there and I would’ve stayed longer for them. But management? That’s what made me leave.

The workload is completely unsustainable. You’re expected to juggle more than one full time role, constantly play catch up, and stay late just to appear like you’re managing. It’s not “fast-paced.” It’s exploitative.

The real problem? Leadership. They didn’t understand the workflow, dismissed every concern, and assumed we were just undertrained instead of severely overworked.

This company had real potential to be something great. But instead of investing in people, they crank up sales and installs for profit, leaving the rest of us to drown in the aftermath. If you value your sanity, keep scrolling. Shift runs on burnout and denial. You’ll be buried in an unrealistic workload, expected to “figure it out,” and gaslit into thinking you just need more training. Spoiler: you don’t. They’re understaffed, overwhelmed, and don’t care.

No leadership. No support. No respect. Just pressure, exhaustion, and silence.
If you value balance, sanity, and competent leadership, look elsewhere.

The hardest part of the job is managing many priorities and multitasking.  You must have an organized personality.

The most enjoyable part of the job are the people I get to work with.



Shift Energy Group has a great team, and colleagues are supportive. However, that's where the positives end. The management is absolutely awful, with zero support, no proper training, and a complete disregard for employees' well-being. They treat workers like disposables, pushing unrealistic workloads and expecting constant overtime without a dime of extra pay. Burnout is inevitable. Instead of addressing it, management turns a blind eye. There's no structure, and no leadership. If you value your mental health and work-life balance, stay far away from this place.


I am giving the freedom to map out my day as needed. From day one, I have done nothing but grow personally and professionally and I have the support and trust from management to be successful. I have the flexibility to achieve a great work/life balance and the opportunity for growth is there if I work hard to take it. The company is on the verge of major expansion and I look forward to seeing where my role takes me over the next few years! I am proud to tell people where i work and what industry I work in. Solar is the future and I love being a part of it. Exciting times ahead! 

Unfair work environment with broken promises of advancement. The company had many great employees but management treated all of us unfairly and underpaid as well. Since I resigned many of my former colleagues have been let go without cause. Shift likes to draw you in and then make faulty promises and work you to the bone for nothing in return. The workplace culture is all fake in my opinion. If you want to feel valued and have understanding managers I would highly recommend looking elsewhere.
