Shoe Club

A typical day at the Shoe Club covered many aspects of retail. This included anything from stock and merchandising materials, to customer service and cashier duties. This kept the workplace exciting. Management worked very closely with the employees and shared many of the responsibilities. The staff was given responsibility and training in mid-level management and had the ability to do returns, exchanges, refunds, etc at their own discretion. The hardest part of the job was some of the multi-taskin that was necessary during stocking days. It became increasingly difficult to manage client relationships while rushing to stock material, especially when staff numbers were low. Overall, however, the high level of responsibility was very enjoyable because the success of the company felt as though it relied on personal and teamwork success.

•	Greeted and assisted customers with any questions or concerns 
•	Efficiently worked the cash register to minimize wait time for customers
•	Cleaned up and organized the store 
•	Effectively sold store products
•	Developed a keen sense of understanding of a customer’s interest and accommodated for their wants and needs 
•	Became well versed in any specialty merchandise sold (eg. steel toe shoes) and could therefore give thorough explanations and expert advice to customers

This job was good for the time I had it. I had a wonderful manager who made this experience a very pleasant one and some great coworkers here and there. The owners make your life difficult considering there are 4 of them. It is a family business and each member of the family seems to be involved and always hovering over the business. Poor selection when buying merchandise that doesn’t suit demographic, rude behaviour and no commission 


It is fun to work and earn some money while studying in university.  Is is hard when I had to deal with any rude or thieves. I mostly work myself. When I need to deal with any issue I call the security. I have to deal with people in different ages, cultures, and ethics. I am very glad to help customers and they sometimes shared their stories with me which are very interesting, sometimes very educative as well.

A typical day at work would be to serve customers, answer phones and do stock. I also do tranfers to other locations and markdowns on certain items in the store.

I learn to better my organization skills and my customer service skills.
This is a small company, I have 3 other employees that work with me. I usually work alone in most of my shifts.

Hardest part of my job would be inventory.

This job gave me a lot of experience i started as just a normal employee and worked my way up to assistant manager, in just a mater of a year. Even when there were individuals working there much longer than me. I proved my self and showed initiative, the reason for me leaving is I need to find a job in my field in which I study.

It was my first job and I really enjoyed it, I got along with my co-workers and manager, I learned a lot about shoes and how to handle customer concerns.

Shoe Club provides a safe and enjoyable work environment for employees. Co-workers were very eager to help me adjust to this job and teach me new sales tactics.

There can be very slow days where not much goes on. Not enough effort was put into training new hires and expected to learn on their own. Management is sloppy. Overall very unfulfilling job with little growth and learning.
