Shoppers Home Health Care, was a great place to work.  It let me learn to help other, families going into new chapters of their lives with loved ones that might just be getting older.  In need help to be able to stay in their current home, maybe need a wheelchair or scooter to stay mobile.  

Some people wouldn't like to see people upset and even crying and breaking down because of life changes things but it was a great to be able to help people and their families find solutions to health problems.

The coworkers were an awesome group. Very helpful and knowledgeable. They care about their customers. Very patient when teaching you new things.

It was hard to get time off due to staffing. Denied a trip for a family wedding even though I requested months in advance...harsh.

On Sundays they wouldn't let you leave for lunch as there was only two people 
on. They would have you eat in the lunchroom and if the person on the floor got busy you would have to interrupt your lunch to go help. They stopped this practice when head officers caught wind of it.

The environmental controls were regularly malfunctioning, making it so that you had to wear layers and constantly swap out light under-layers for coats throughout the day, in the office.  Additionally, the records were primarily analogue and the capacity in which they were to be digitized was extremely limited.

Shoppers had the name and staff to be the industry leaders, but they never seemed to take charge.

The company was bought by Loblaws and subsequently dissolved the Home Healthcare division.

Employees will not work as a team. Manager is not in agreement with Respiratory objectives. NOT a good environment to work in. Expected to miss lunches, come in early, work late and no expression of gratitude when increasing sales beyond expectations.

It is an honor working for a company that truly makes a difference in the day to day lives on fellow Canadians. Not only does their mission statement resonate with me but the people of this organization are passionate, professional and driven.

Management is cruel and upper management ignores complaints of abuse.  If an employee is making them a lot of money they are basically given free reign to treat people however they want.

There was very little job security.  One day it was "business as usual" the next, my entire division had been sold and we had to figure it out.  As part of the Shoppers/Loblaws organization it can be a good launching pad for bigger and better things.

Really enjoyed my time with the company and learned a lot about WSIB ! The staff was extremely welcoming and friendly, and it was fun assisting customers with their health care needs such as ostomy supplies and more.

Challenging in a good way, always learning something new related to the work while interfacing with clients. New technology makes it very interesting.
