Morning meetings are un-bearable, different piece of equipment everyday, favoritism, award bad behavior, the foreman/supervisors have no control over your hourly rate(they pay low wages and you have zero chance of receiving a wage increase), equipment is all garbage except a few nice dozers/excavators, lots and lots of un-experienced operators, turn over rate here is high and that is a reflection of the type of company Sig is. 

Surveying for a heavy civil construction company is a lot of repetition. Most days are spent doing stakeouts & asbuilts. Most often the survey staff is understaffed, so they are on their feet for the full 12 hour shift. Field supervisory staff are adequate, but project management team is lacking.
Operators are generally good to work with and get along with. The camp at New Gold is good for most part (jack/jill or gang showers). Proximity to Fort Frances/Emo is a plus. Used to be a 20/10 worksite, but changed to 21/7 in 2020. Working for SNL is good stopgap for surveyors but will not lead to internal promotion.

A lot of good people here. Most management is good. Like all companies there are a few that shouldn’t be in their positions. Some of the Foremen are not terribly bright. They will tell you to go do something, you’ll warn them that it’s soft ground or had a high potential for damage. They don’t listen, say you’ll be fine if you do this, then bam.. exactly what you said happens because they don’t use logic.
I do like their policies for drugs and alcohol at camps, zero tolerance. Unless you are friends with the foreman.. then they will cover for you. 
Pay is reasonable at best.

I think these companies are all the same.  There are good folks that you work with and jerks too!  Sadly sometimes management tends to like the jerks that are disrespectful and dislikes the people that complain about them.  For example: smoking and filthy trucks.  If you complain you'll be the one who gets sacked so suck it up best you can unless you have a creative solution.

All around a good experience, always busy for the most part.

Being away from home for the most part, the work scope what I have been doing doe a while

Not bad, pretty good all around, upper management can be a challenge to navigate 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Sleep,eat. Dig, push rock or haul equipment

Work day was 12.0 hrs ,14 x 14 rotation. Learned different aspects of the contracting side of things, differing from working for a one site only job. Management kept employees well informed and training was very good. The people who worked for this company played a big role in the ccompanies reputation was was very good.

I found it to be great working at Sigfusson Northern, although it was only a short contract I would love to work for them again on a more permanent basis. With a family it was to hard to work where it wasn't a permanent position. I love operating heavy equipment of all sorts and it makes it even better to me that if they break down that I can fix them with the time I spent as a apprentice mechanic at another company.

I have been working for this company now for 10 months. And in those past 10 months the company has bent over backwards to really make me feel as if I was apart of the family. They really keep you busy so that you ain't bored. All the foreman to the superintendent are a great to work for. The work is hard most of the time. On occasion slightly easy.

Overall, I enjoyed the experience.  Management was good. Unfortunately, the timing was not good as I went in on the last month of the project. I wish it was explained to me that some projects could be a few months apart beforehand.  There was inadequate training in my case but overall I cannot say anything negative about this company.  If offered, I would consider employment with this company again.

Overall my experience working there was short and sweet. Short being the amount of days that I worked there. Sweet being the amount of $$ I took home for those days worked. Definitely above average pay for a trucking job. But all of the equipment was old, filthy on the inside, and maintenance intensive. It was also not the right fit for me in the long term. Too repetitive and away from home too long.
