Signature Support Services

At signature support services, everything is organized and in routine. A day typically starts at 7 am with waking up the individuals, supporting them in personal care, breakfast and following a daily schedule (appointments, work, school etc.). 
I learnt that to best support an individual, you need to get to know him/her and their needs, and it takes work.
The management is good, and they listen to both employee's and individuals' needs. They make necessary measures to best  serve their individuals.
We have a very hard working team, we are professional and good at listening to each other. We have mutual respect.
The hardest part of the job is that sometimes, it can get very emotional, it gets harder with time to not attach yourself to the individuals.
The most enjoyable part of the job is that you go home feeling like you have made a wonderful and positive difference in someone's life.

Signature has a lot of individuals in their care, most of which are great to work with. Unfortunately, they also have a lot of management that have long forgotten, or possibly never even experienced, front line work. A great deal of them are also on a power trip. Nobody listens, or cares about what the staff has to say, even when it's clearly in the best interest of the people they support. Signature is also very low on the pay scale, especially for their front line staff. The cap is very low. Nobody is getting a raise. Ever. And their benefits package is as cheap as it gets. Totally bare bones, and employees have to pay for them. Advancement appears to be given to the people who have connections within the agency already. (Example - spouse or friend)

The individuals I supported were great. Upper management in the office are good to deal with, but my house supervisor was a nightmare. Employees have yearly evaluations (count on them being negative if your supervisor personally doesn't like you) , but it would be nice if we were given an opportunity to evaluate supervisors and hold them accountable. The shifts suck. Instead of a fair rotation you're given a "line". Depending on that line you might be expected to work every weekend which makes it hard if you have kids or just a social life in general. I think they count on you getting attached to the clients so that you won't leave. Advancement is 100% who you know and who likes you on a personal level.

I enjoyed my time working at Signature Support Services, and it was one job that I did not dread going to. The workers they have been hiring could use some more supervision and training, though. Many of them just hang out on their phones doing the bare minimum, whether it be in public with the clients or in the residences. Also, some more training on confidentiality procedures could be good.

I am enjoying what i do through creative approach to the individual under my watch and self-care approach.
The company gave room for flexibility, time management and over given all employees necessary training and resources to get the task of meeting the needs of the clients and staff. Personal growth and career advancement.
 Had extreme passion for cooking and community access with professional support

Home settings, multicultural, and respectful. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Partly cloudy and sunshine occasionally.

Follow routine schedules to meet needs of individuals we support. 
morning Clean up and prompts for clients to be independent.
Breakfast and medications if any. community access if any. Lunch and other activities as required

The clients are above and beyond the best people I've had the pleasure of working with. The coworkers mostly good too, though there was the odd bad egg that came through and management didn't seem to want to take care of the problem staff, marine because they're in short supply of qualified people willing to work crazy or nonsense hours

Focusing on a person's ability instead of there disability is what this company is all about. Assisting people to remain independent and live their lives in their own home instead of a facility. Through compassionate care and regular bookings, people are able to have their individual needs tended to.

The company protects long term management who treats their staff poorly with no appreciation or respect. During training it was all “client first” and “client choice” but then upper management tries to get you to force clients into changes and choices that are not their own.
