Had worked a year and a half for Apollo Forest Products and afterwards a few months for Winston Homes ( both companies within Sinclar Group Forest Products). Enjoyed the small team work environment and the mostly laid back casual work culture. Appreciated the timely support from the immediate HR team and corporate leadership.
Company was supportive in offering financial allowance support as I had to temporarily relocate near to the employer work site.

Apollo's people were so extremely invested in the success of Apollo - it was amazing to see!  The mills have solid leaders and managers who worked diligently at helping the mill and its people.  The town is small, but has a wonderful golf course, ski hill, fishing & hunting, mountain biking and hiking...and the people are fantastic.  .

I worked in the Sawmill learning new machines to advance my knowledge and to work up the ladder, to move forth in my career. I really enjoyed my position at Apollo, but was wrongfully terminated due to a misunderstanding between myself and an employee. The hardest part of my job was when I would try and talk management about a certain individual or when I would try and set up a meeting to talk about a certain individual.

I was the first woman hired in sawmill operations who passed the probationary period, in 30 years.Safe start programs were being implemented, safety meetings and resolutions were carried on a regular basis. Shift foreman was a hard a** who taught us all many things about production requirements job safety, and the importance of team work.

I spoken with people who had to travel from outside of Fort St. James, they were hours away far as Prince George or locally close inside the town. Every person is cooperative and respectful. Which seem to be not so tense or stressful when working along with others.

Very stressful to work for, over loaded everyday. I was Energy Manager, BC Hydro told me I should be getting 150 k per year, Sinclar HR said 97.9 K was were I should be. 

Work all the time no work life balance.

Unless you are related to or friends with the supervisors you are treated poorly. Upper management tries but the direct supervisors are really bad.  The company spouts about safety but the direct supervisors turn a blind eye and expect shortcuts to get the job done.

False advertising of what they stand for...safety but choice not by chance...more like safety by chance not by choice...
People didn't know where the proper lockouts for air were. You had to walk through the line of fire to finish a lockout...just wrong

Nice place to work. Everybody did their part as a team. Most people were focused on production and they all did what they needed to in order to make things run all while following safe work procedures.

Worked for Lakeland for 7 years and I have nothing but good things to say about the place. They have problems like any work
Place but there is a great hr team that works for you and there’s lots of opportunity for job advancement
