Skedaddle Humane Wildlife Control

Working for Skedaddle has been an incredibly rewarding and memorable experience. In the first few months on the job, Skedaddle ensures you’re fully prepared by pairing you with an experienced full-time technician. There’s a lot to learn, but management truly cares about your success and takes the time to ensure you’re ready and confident before assigning you your own truck. In my opinion, the biggest strength of Skedaddle’s management is their genuine care—for employees, customers, and the critters we handle. They also place a strong emphasis on safety, upholding the highest safety standards. This focus is vital because the job can be dangerous at times, and they ensure all technicians are thoroughly trained to work safely.

You’re also provided with all the tools needed to do the job, so there’s no need to purchase anything except for shoes and pants, which I think is a major plus.

While I didn’t conduct in-depth research, I’ve heard that the pay may be slightly lower than other similar jobs. However, there are plenty of perks that help make up for it. For example, full-time technicians can qualify for profit sharing (upon hitting targets), get paid from the moment they leave home in the company truck, and earn overtime. If earning more money interests you, there are additional opportunities, such as working weekends or taking on extra jobs during your shifts.

As with any job, there are seasonal fluctuations. Some months are slower, with smaller jobs that still allow you to work full shifts (8+ hours a day). Other months, like baby season, can be extremely busy, with longer hours being unavoidable.

One of the highlights of working at Skedaddle is the team environment. Everyone is friendly, and there’s a strong culture of helping each other out. For large or challenging jobs, management often pairs us up to get the work done more efficiently.

The most challenging part of the job, in my opinion, is dealing with environmental factors, such as the cold in winter or the heat on rooftops in summer. However, management understands these challenges and encourages us to take breaks in the van to warm up or cool down as needed. For some people working in tight spaces and at heights could be cons.

There are plenty of enjoyable aspects of being a wildlife technician. For me, the biggest perk is that every day is different. Some of my favorite parts of the job include working alongside coworkers, gaining hands-on experience with wildlife, interacting with clients, driving (and getting paid to do it!), and the satisfaction of finally finding that elusive mouse entry point.

Overall, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time at Skedaddle. Over the past year, I’ve learned so much and am deeply grateful for the amazing support from management. I’m only leaving to pursue career goals that better align with my bachelor’s degree, but my time here has been truly invaluable.


Skedaddle as a company is really great to work for. The office is clean, there's complimentary coffee, bathroom breaks when needed, you can smoke every hour on the hour, but something there is off. It took me a while to realize what it was: Management, or lack thereof.

The management style at Skedaddle is very hot and cold. Sometimes management is your best friend, other times management hates you but won't tell you why, and on the odd occasion you will be reminded just how much you owe them. There's a power struggle among management for who is the true manager that usually involves an employee having to choose who to listen to instead of knowing who to listen to.

You will be penalized for having a bad day, you will be told who will most likely try to get you fired, and you will be made fun of for things you can't change, and then will be penalized for not getting the jokes.

It's common knowledge that when you leave at the end of your shift, you will be talked about badly, by whoever is left, or by the people who have managed to stay there longer than a year. Management actively participates in trash talk and will give hints as to who is going to be fired.

The higher ups are easy to talk to, and great people to be around. They make office life fun and upbeat but when they go in to their offices the true nature of the Skedaddle employees shows. As I said, management feeds into the trash talk nature of the young and often immature employees.

There's no structure for the management to follow and a lot of the times they wing it, and if it ends badly, it's not them who gets reprimanded. 

All in all Skedaddle management thinks they're the best thing out there, and maybe if it's your first job you won't notice the red flags, but I've had better jobs, with management that was consistent, where I always knew what was expected of me, and where I was treated fairly in every situation and Skedaddle is by far the worst place I have worked.

Would not recommend this position for anyone who wants to enjoy the work that they do on a day-to-day basis.

The technicians are awesome to work with, you start out as an assistant. I advanced quickly and got a truck within 3 months due to everyone helping each other out. Getting a truck in that time span is way to soon, considering half the stuff we do is borderline safety violations.The workload we have to do is insane while being exhausted. Pay is $16 for assistants and 17 for technicians, benefits are okay. The pay is not worth it considering at other companys a wildlife technician makes around 20-25. 

Work conditions are brutal you'll have to crawl through attics on the hottest days on recording and be on roofs on dangerous windy days, including the winter when its covered in ice. Upper management is half and half. Some have ego's not understanding why the job isn't done others understand. They demand you work Saturdays while the rest of the office is at home. The salesman will under quote and do extremely unsafe jobs and say to management unrealistic time scales plus undermanned to achieve those goals. They practice safety extremely well due to the high dangers.

They will also fail to mention during insulation jobs aswell, staying in an attic all day, on hot summer days with 2 people. Overall the company is at best decent. They let go numerous employee's due to them refusing advancement because they didn't feel safe or qualified yet for the technician role. Office staff do not understand basic geography. One time I had to go from guelph to rockwood to oakville then Kitchener, all in one day with a supervisor breathing down my neck. 

My advice is to stay an assistant for as long as you can and you'll have a great time with this company.

I worked at Skedaddle in a customer service capacity and truly appreciated many aspects of the role. The job itself was engaging, with a strong sense of mission behind the work. Helping people resolve difficult wildlife issues in a humane way felt meaningful, and I enjoyed the opportunity to work remotely while building relationships with homeowners and technicians. My direct supervisors were supportive and communicative, and I felt valued by the team I interacted with day-to-day.

Unfortunately, my overall experience was undermined by a highly unprofessional and demoralizing end to my employment. I was terminated without warning, notice, or prior concern being raised—despite no documented performance issues and having received positive feedback from my immediate team. The decision to terminate my employment was made unilaterally by the individual responsible for hiring, without the agreement of my direct managers, and appears to have been driven by a personal dislike rather than any professional justification.

This kind of action—abrupt, opaque, and seemingly personal—creates a deeply concerning precedent within the organization. It sends a message that workplace relationships and professional conduct can be overridden by personal bias, with little regard for fairness or transparency.

While Skedaddle does great work in the field, I would urge senior leadership to seriously examine internal decision-making processes and ensure that values of integrity and respect are extended not just to customers and animals, but to employees as well.

There are many great experiences to come from Skedaddle for anyone who enjoys working outside, thinking outside the box and enjoys interacting with wildlife.

A typical day involves assessing the wildlife situation at a customer's home, and then taking all necessary measures to remove that wildlife safely and prevent the issue from reoccurring.

Management at Skedaddle was terrific. They are very caring towards their employees and they provide you with anything you may need to complete a job safely. If you are ever in need of assistance, help will be provided.

The job comes with many challenges, such as finding a safe way to maneuver around rooftops, and crawling into tight spaces to successfully seal up areas of concern. With this being said, there is always a safe approach, and different techniques are thoroughly taught during the training period.

Although the work may seem tough at times, there are many enjoyable aspects. The majority of the work occurs outdoors, and with different locations each day, there is a good mix of independence and teamwork depending on the challenge, and customers are left happy and with peace of mind after their wildlife issues have been resolved.

All in all, I found Skedaddle to be a great experience providing me with new skills that I can carry with me in years to come!



After working here for almost 2 years I'm definitely sad to be leaving. Each day brings something new with this job and although you don't get hands on everyday, the work you do on a daily basis brings enough satisfaction knowing that you wildlife proofed that customers house for whatever species. Emergency calls and baby season is what you live for in terms of the hands on! 

From being able to wildlife proof any house for any species, to learning things on the side like soffit repairs, roof vent replacements, shingle repairs, etc. etc. and lots of other things you can get training in like doing insulation or getting your boom license, this job just overall provides an array of knowledge that is life lasting. This isn't even mentioning the management whom are truly amazing here and only want you to succeed. I was very fortunate to develop such good professional relationships with everyone here that made the job on a day-to-day basis that much more enjoyable. There are parts of the job that some may consider difficult like being up on roofs and ladders, or in tight attic spaces but overall you're always safe with what you're doing so it's not too bad. 

There's plenty of room for growth in the company as well!

Overall 5/5 company, would recommend to anyone looking for a job or in need of wildlife help. 

When starting at Skedaddle, it seems like a reasonable place to work. The training is adequate and the job itself is easy. The office can be fun, and there are supplied coffee and supplied lunches occasionally.

Unfortunately, the longer you're there you begin to realize the work environment is not as great as it originally seemed. From the top of management down to the callers on the floor, things are hot and cold. The information is constantly changing, and you're often not made aware until you're punished for it.

Managers are often mistreated or treated unequally. One of them staying late often, working hard - and is paid minimally for it while being left out constantly. A bad day for one person can quickly turn into a bad day for the office. You are not provided with breaks unless you smoke and your lunch breaks are spent still answering calls. Other reviews are right when they say that management feeds into the trash talk of other employees, and even start the trash talk themselves.

This is not a position as a long term job, you will notice that the turnover rate is incredibly high. If you're looking for a job a couple of hours a week, or just a short term position - Skedaddle is ideal. Do not get roped into dispatch unless you want to do double the work for the same minimum wage pay.

I was originally super excited to work here, the CSR manager I interviewed with was great during the interview and had me super excited to work there. Once I started things went downhill quickly. Little to no training on most things, no one wants to train you so you either sit there and watch someone else or twiddle your thumbs but you get complaints that you are not doing enough work. The job wasn't difficult, getting the training and knowledge on how to do the job was hard because no one wanted to train and the ones you got stuck with showing you the job, were not very helpful.
The other CSR's were very judgmental and cliquey. If you were new and didn't fit into their clique, you were not going to get along well with anyone. Management and staff were very rude and talked a lot about other staff members and caused a lot of drama. If you weren't included in the clique, they made sure you knew about it because you felt excluded and picked on.
Terrible communication between CSR's, management and the workers. No breaks, eat lunch at your desk and work at the same time. 

I'm glad I left.

I enjoyed my time with Skedaddle. Every day is different with new jobs at new work sites and I learned new tips and skills every day on the job.
This job is different than most other jobs so I was able to learn many new skills that I wouldn't necessarily get from another job, but still able to use these new skills in many different life settings. Management is very personable and very easy to talk to and get along with. They are very flexible with shifts and hours if time off is needed. The job can be physically demanding and involves work on ladders and roofs and in attics and tight spaces so it's not for the faint of heart, but definitely a lot of fun and very rewarding. Customers are always appreciative of our hard work. Baby season is the best time of the year as we get to handle babies and interact with the mommas so this can be a lot of fun. Overall, a great place to work and I would recommend Skedaddle to anyone looking for a fun, rewarding career.

When I got hired at Skedaddle it was about half the size it was when my employment ended. It's a much larger company, but they maintained a great deal of the upbeat and fun office spirit from a smaller team. 
Management and supervisors are good at constructively helping you address mistakes or issues in performance and also provide positive feedback when consistently good work is shown (rare in most workplaces).
Internal advancement is absolutely possible. 
Compensation is okay. Benefits are pretty good for telephone customer service.
Work/life balance is beyond great. You work your shift and then log off. They don't give you work to do outside of your work. 
VERY willing to adapt to your needs if you communicate them and they ACTUALLY understand that mental health is a thing that exists and affects people (disability, injury, daycare/childcare/school schedules etc)
