For a Company that flaunts their "years of being in business"  I am amazed that they have been able to stay in business this long. But after working here I realized this company is built on the unsuspecting individuals they hire who are eager to learn and earn a wage. They undercut the bigger (and more professional agencies) to gain their Clients business and keep the money coming in. You give your all the first few months as the promise of being paid your commission for meeting your goals is dangled in front of you but then it is rarely paid to you, always some excuse from Management to not pay you what you worked for or to pay you less than what was agreed/contracted on. No OT pay as you are "on salary" and "on call".  No benefits, no work/life balance and no engaging or encouraging atmosphere. High turnover in Staff. You will bust your but to serve your Clients and build new ones only to have them taken from you and given to whoever is the "Owners Favorite Employee" that quarter.  Very competitive atmosphere - no team players. CEO/Owner belittles employees and threatens to "replace you with someone more competent" and undermines the Managers/Team Leaders.
 If you are looking to build your Career as a Recruiter this is not the Company to work for. Any other recruitment agency out there would be 1000 times a better choice. Do I sound like a disgruntled ex employee then yes I am. I was looking to enter this industry with my Education and training in HR and was willing to do the work to learn the business but how I was treated was beyond fair and frankly not within labour standards but you just keep your head down and do your best to keep your bills paid while you look for a new opportunity while reflecting on how this was the worst career move you could have made !

Toxic leadership culture: Employees report an intimidating and demoralizing environment, often attributed to the CEO's behaviour in supervising staff 

No performance appraisals: Staff feel their efforts go unrecognized, with no structured reviews or appreciation in place .

Early morning negativity: Recurring morning meetings are described as frustrating “Groundhog Day” experiences with little productive outcome 

Unfocused leadership: Management is seen as disorganized and inconsistent, frequently reversing decisions and causing confusion.

Low wage rates: Employees are paid below industry standards and often have to take on excessive work without proper compensation.

No career development: This agency is viewed as suitable only for beginners seeking temporary experience, not for driven, experienced professionals

This is a horrible company to work for.  Don't bother wasting your time!!!! Your days  are wasted with  morning  meetings that never  seem to get anywhere or is just a repeat  from the previous  day.   (Everyday at work felt like ground hog day) there was a constant changing of the database.  There is no form of structure, culture, or organization what so ever.  Forget job security!!! Your job is contingent on how the owner  feels.  So pack your bags when your leaving work cause you never when  it might be you last.  This company  has an extremely HIGH turn over rate. It's a joke and a big waste of Time!!!!  They have been around  since  1964 and still don't have the slightest clue.

It was a deeply distressing and emotionally draining experience to recall my time working for the CEO of this firm. The memories of their abominable behavior are seared into my mind, and it is impossible to forget the way they treated their employees. The CEO's leadership style was nothing short of oppressive, and they seem to take pleasure in making their subordinates feel small and insignificant. Working under their direction was an unproductive and miserable experience, and it often felt like the CEO went out of their way to create a toxic work environment. 

The CEO's reprehensible actions included frequently withholding crucial information from employees, leaving them in the dark about important decisions and developments. This intentional lack of transparency eroded trust and undermined collaboration within the organization. Instead of fostering an environment of open communication, the CEO's tactics bred frustration and hindered productivity. To make matter worse, when information was shared, it was often distributed haphazardly and without proper context.

I worked as a labourer for the fort Mac resoration clean up. This company is so disorganized, cheap, and corrupt. Every meeting we had at camp we learned about a new way they were taking our pay. 
No one at camp wanted to express concerns about anything, because Slate would fire anyone for anything I.e too many questions.
I have never worked for a company who cares so little about the well being of their employees. It is clear they thought of us as nothing but slaves.

If you want to walk on eggshells and never know where you stand, go work at Slate! Upper leadership is demeaning and demoralizing. The atmosphere is terrible. It's absolutely silent all day long and all I hear is people sighing or expressing signs of stress. Save yourself distress and find a place where you will be valued. 

There were less than a handful of solid, genuine people I worked with over my tenure at Slate. 

Management was helpful in helping find stable work, staff was social and engaging and made sure that you got the items needed for the job and if they did not have them they told you where you could get them. Able to provide a shuttle ride if needed to site which was very helpful. All in all, awesome to work with and would recommend to anyone needing a job. 

This company provides placement opportunities for individuals.  Management at the time of my employ, was tough and productivity reviews were frequent for recruiters.  Administration spent a great deal of time adjusting database and training new staff.   My job was to maintain the database and assist the owner in training new staff as well as maintain the AP/AR and payroll.

The managers who are supposed to lead this company are messy and unorganized. It's like they don't really know what they're doing most of the time. Most of the managers are even uncoordinated when it comes to assigning tasks and scheduling meetings. It's difficult to do your best when the management itself is the one that's making things worse in the workplace.
